Robert Muzard belonged to a generation of French youth after the Great War who were sympathetic to the culture of the enemy, Germany and who landed up collaborating with the Nazis when they took over the French film industry in World War II.Earluer, he had followed his studies at the University of Berlin in 1932 with work at the UFA film studio there as well as at film companies in Prague and Budapest.Though he was mobilized to fight back in France at the beginning of World War II he was taken prisoner in June 1940, to be released the following year with the help of German connections and his fluency in the language.He was put to work producing short propaganda documentaries to be shown in French theatres.
