It's been a long while since we've seen the cast of High School Musical altogether - though they're still exciting fans with their virtual antics - and that's all going to change on April 16. The East High Wildcats are reuniting for a special performance during The Disney Family Singalong, a nationwide event featuring artists like Christina Aguilera, Michael Bublé, Kristin Chenoweth, Auliʻi Cravalho, Amber Riley, John Stamos, Ariana Grande, Demi Lovato, Alan Menken, and more taking on their favorite Disney classic tunes from their own homes. The special aims to raise awareness about Feeding America's vast network and resources for people in the country who are finding themselves in unfamiliar circumstances and facing hunger for the first time due to Covid-19.

When ABC and Bob Iger asked High School Musical director Kenny Ortega to participate in the April 16 special, The Disney Family Singalong, he was immediately on board.
“I wanted to find something I can do to participate and it was so great to be given the call and invited by ABC to join,” Ortega told Deadline. “It gave me a purpose to get up every morning. I feel really good that we have an opportunity to do something like this — it’s good medicine. ”

All of the "High School Musical" kids, including Zac Efron, Vanessa Hudgens and Ashley Tisdale, may have graduated from East High, but Ms. Darbus' drama class lives on in the Disney Channel's new pilot inspired by the "High School Musical" franchise.
"Madison High" is the channel's new music and dance-driven comedy pilot, which will introduce viewers to a new troupe of theater students. Alyson Reed will reprise her role as drama teacher Ms. Darbus in the project. Production on the pilot begins in March and if it is picked up, it will premiere in early 2012.
Gary Marsh, president, Entertainment and chief creative officer of Disney Channels Worldwide, says, "'High School Musical' introduced the joys of musicals and musical theater to a whole new generation and kids and families. They embraced the themes explored in those movies -- about expressing oneself and following your dreams. And now, with 'Madison High,...

Disney Channel has handed a pilot order to Madison High, a music and dance-driven comedy pilot featuring the melodramatic drama teacher Ms. Darbus (Alyson Reed) from the High School Musical franchise and a troupe of theater students. Disney channel put Madison High, described as the channel's first musical comedy and its most ambitious series to date, on fast-track development in November when it began preliminary casting. Production on the pilot begins in March for a potential early 2012 series launch. “High School Musical introduced the joys of musicals and musical theater to a whole new generation and kids and families," Disney Channel topped Gary Marsh said. "And now, with Madison High, we hope to give kids a whole new set of characters with whom to engage – along with more great original music, dance numbers and songs.” Madison High will feature four original songs written by Matthew Gerrard, Robbie Nevil, Jamie Houston,...

The No Strings Attached soundtrack. Ivan Reitman is a variable director at best. The good will he generated with Ghostbusters is pretty much eternal (and tellingly he’s set to revisit the series with Ghostbusters 3), but he’s also single-handedly responsible for Arnold Schwarzeneggar’s “funny period”, having directed Twins, Kindergarten Cop and Junior. It’s particularly disappointing then to find him responsible for relegating Natalie Portman from Aronofsky’s dark impresario to Ashton Kutcher co-star. It’s hard being a woman in Hollywood, at least it is if you’re talented. You take the lousy generic rom-com leads opposite the Kutchers and Butlers of the world or...
