A 17-year-old California runaway was discovered by one of the most powerful modeling agencies in the world and told her dreams of global fame and fortune were an ocean away in Paris, where a high-level agent would let her live with him and support her burgeoning modeling career. And so, Carré Sutton (also known as Carré Otis), young and with barely a penny to her name, left the U.S. to live with Gérald Marie, then head of Elite Model Management’s European division. Shortly after arriving in Paris, Sutton...

Carré Sutton — who famously starred (as Carré Otis) alongside Mickey Rourke in the racy 1989 film “Wild Orchid” — filed a lawsuit in New York on Thursday where she claimed she was raped by an executive for Elite Model Management when she was 17 years old.
According to the lawsuit, Sutton says she was discovered by a modelling scout in 1985 and subsequently moved to New York City in 1986 at the behest of John Casablancas, the agency’s founder (who died in 2013). After struggling in New York, Sutton says she was sent to Paris by Elite in the hopes that her look “would have strong appeal in Europe.” She was told that she would be living with Gerald Marie, the head of Elite’s European division, who was “interested enough in her career success that she could live in his personal residence.”

★★☆☆☆ If Wikipedia is to be believed, the orchid family is one of the two largest families of flowering plants known to man; they're everywhere, going wild without a whisper of a care and making love in expensive hotels. But sadly, not all orchids are quite so relaxed; some lack self-confidence and need a little help to loosen up and explore their flowering sexuality and this (almost) truth seems to be the pungent metaphor at the centre of Zalman King's exceedingly odd, but still pretty awful Wild Orchid. Emily Reed (Carré Otis) is a polite young Mid-Western lawyer who heads to New York to seek her fortune and sexual awakening.

Well before the mainstream fascination with the soft-core sexual sensibilities of Fifty Shades of Grey, one of the more notable alums of such boundary pushing was American filmmaker Zalman King. After producing the infamous sensation that was Adrian Lyne’s 9 ½ Weeks, King moved into filmmaking himself, debuting in 1988 with Two Moon Junction, before collaborating with his wife Patricia Louisiana Knopp on what stands as his most high profile title with Wild Orchid in 1989, reuniting him with Weeks stars Mickey Rourke. As is often the case with cinema seriously interested in exploring eroticism and titillation, the title suffers from a lot of misplaced energy. Character development and its semblance of a narrative appear to be roughly hewn afterthoughts, its most pronounced moments revolving around extremely stylized sexual congress between several different characters (and stylized in the vein of what we see on display in Verhoeven’s Showgirls).

Zalman King, the filmmaker behind a string of popular and steamy erotic thrillers in the ’80s and ’90s, died on Friday at age 70, according to the Associated Press, citing his son-in-law. The cause was cancer. Born Zalman King Lefkowitz, King began his career acting on TV in the ’60s. But his real breakthrough came when he and his wife, Patricia Louisianna Knop, wrote the screenplay for 1986′s 9 1/2 Weeks. Slickly directed by Adrian Lyne and produced by King, the kinky, soft-lit, taboo love story starred Kim Basinger and Mickey Rourke and was a hit at the box-office, spawning a slew of racy imitators.

Sherilyn Fenn, Richard Tyson, Two Moon Junction Zalman King Dies Pt.1: Mickey Rourke-Kim Basinger Sex Drama Nine 1/2 Weeks Though much of the media coverage on the film focused on the Sherilyn Fenn-Richard Tyson sex scenes and a full-frontal nude shot of Fenn, the most interesting aspect of Two Moon Junction was its highly eclectic cast, which included Oscar winners Louise Fletcher (One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest) and Burl Ives (The Big Country), Oscar nominee Juanita Moore (Imitation of Life), plus Little Darlings' Kristy McNichol, The Diary of Anne Frank's Millie Perkins, Fantasy Island's Hervé Villechaize, Endless Love's Martin Hewitt, TV star Don Galloway, and Milla Jovovich of the future Resident Alien movies. But despite the cast and the sex, Two Moon Junction bombed domestically, earning a paltry $1.54 million. Compared to Two Moon Junction, the $7 million-budgeted Wild Orchid (1990) was a megahit.

Paul Fisher has a lot of things to overcome. The owner of the Network, an umbrella company overseeing something like 150 modeling agencies across the country, has to whip all those small businesses into shape so they can discover new talent and keep it. He’s got to convince models and the people who hire them that it’s not just the big NYC agencies that matter. And he’s got to overcome the revulsion he once felt for the industry that he left for 10 years. And he’s got to convince us that Remodeled, which premieres on the CW tonight, is worth adding to the already full roster of modeling shows on our DVR list. But that’s not enough. He also wants to create models who will change the world. Wait, what?
In the ’80s and ’90s, Fisher rep’d the likes of Naomi Campbell, Stephanie Seymour, Carre Otis and Kimora Lee Simmons.

Actor Mickey Rourke has accused his ex-wife of "chasing the buck" by detailing their relationship in a new book.
The Wrestler star wed Carre Otis in 1992 after they co-starred in movie Wild Orchid, but their tumultuous union was rocked by allegations of domestic abuse and the model/actress' heroin addiction. They divorced six years later.
In her new memoir, Beauty, Disrupted, Otis claims she only married Rourke because she was terrified he would kill himself if she turned down the offer - and the actor is unhappy with her allegations.
Rourke tells CNN talk show host Piers Morgan, "From what I've heard about it... It's probably kind of like a little bit of sour grapes, chasing the buck and a delusional, narcissistic self-centred point of view."...

Carré Otis was a top model when she auditioned for 1990's "Wild Orchid." It was on the set of that film that she met Mickey Rourke, her co-star, and the two fell madly in love. They soon embarked on a tempestuous relationship that was marked by abuse, guns and violence.
In her new book "Beauty Disrupted," Otis, 43, candidly writes about her struggle to overcome anorexia, as well as drug and alcohol addictions, and the spiritual quest that eventually led her to Buddhism.
Although her chapters about Rourke have been recently highlighted in the press, what is really interesting is her frank discussion about sexuality and her admittance that she didn't have an orgasm with a man until she met her second husband.
Your book is very intense.

Mickey Rourke received critical acclaim in 2009 for the film, "The Wrestler." And during the 1980s, Mickey was one of Hollywood's rising stars with a serious bad boy reputation. It was during that wild time that Mickey met and married Carre Otis - and now, Carre opens up in her new memoir about her volatile relationship with Mickey, one she claims almost cost her, her life.

Actress/model Carre Otis has urged her ex-husband Mickey Rourke to let go of the emotional "baggage" surrounding their failed marriage because he will never be able to move on if he continues to stir up old feelings.
The actors wed in 1992 after co-starring in Wild Orchid, but their tumultuous relationship was rocked by allegations of domestic abuse and Otis' heroin addiction, which led to their divorce six years later.
In 2008, Rourke confessed he had never fully recovered from the split, despite their difficult partnership, admitting that he had resigned himself to a life of meaningless trysts because he would never be able to match the powerful love he had found with Otis.
He said, "I waited 10 years for her to come back... I won't compromise. Carre was thunder and lightning. If I can't have thunder and lighting then I won't have anything. It'll be a one-night stand here and there, but I'm not going to compromise. I can't."
Otis reveals she was furious with her ex's comments because she had just started a family with her second husband, environmental scientist Matthew Sutton - but her anger soon turned to pity because she realised the only person Rourke was hurting was himself.
Appearing on U.S. newsman Anderson Cooper's new talk show on Tuesday, Otis says, "It (Rourke's comments) was totally inappropriate. I'm a wife and a mother of two little girls today and I have done so much work (to heal emotionally) and that was so long ago. And for me it just felt like, really a testament to his evolution, and (he should) just let it go.
"His star (in Hollywood) is rising and it should rise, and he doesn't need to bring up a bunch of old stuff. It doesn't benefit him; it doesn't serve him well to carry that baggage any longer."
And Otis insists she has nothing but praise for the achievements he's made in his movie career.
She adds: "I'm thrilled with Mickey for his success... Everybody deserves success, everybody deserves happiness... We all deserve to heal and get well and that comes from a really genuine place in myself."...

Mickey Rourke threatened to commit suicide if ex-wife Carre Otis didn't accept his marriage proposal - because he couldn't live without her.
Otis and The Wrestler star had a tumultuous relationship and many were surprised when she agreed to become his wife in 1992, but now, in her memoir, Beauty, Disrupted, the actress admits she only wed Rourke because she was terrified he would kill himself right before her very eyes if she turned down the offer.
In an excerpt, obtained by the New York Post, she writes, "I left Mickey in Miami (Florida) to pursue his new boxing career... But I wasn't really surprised to get a call. I gave in. Just like that... On June 25, 1992, a limo picked me up in Los Angeles and drove me north up the coast to Big Sur. Sure enough, there he was, sitting on the hood of a tricked-out '69 Road Runner hot rod.
"'Otis... I... I don't know what to say. I love you. I miss you. I need you. I... I want you.' He was stammering.
"'Mickey, you really f**king hurt me. I don't even know why I'm here. Other than that I love you, too. But love... it shouldn't hurt like this.' I was emotional. My lip was trembling. I was trying not to cry. Before I knew what he was doing, he got down on one knee. 'Marry me, Carre,' he said.
"'Jesus, Mickey. Wait. I haven't seen you in months!' I was starting to feel panicked. 'I need time, some time to think about this.'
"'No. You answer me now,' he said firmly. Standing up, he went to the back of the car and opened the trunk. 'I can't live without you,' he said again, pulling out a long sword wrapped in beautiful Japanese cloth. 'What's that?' I asked.
"'It's a hari-kari knife,' he replied, unwrapping it. The long metal sword caught the afternoon light. Mickey stared into my eyes. 'Answer me or I will die.'
"Was he serious? I wasn't sure. I was terrified. I waited a beat. I recognised his standard my-way-or-the-highway ultimatum in all this, but it was tinged with a threat of a different kind this time. I heard myself say, 'Yes, Mickey. I will marry you.' Mickey and I were married the next day, June 26, in my hometown of San Francisco (California)."...

Carre Otis has revealed how it is a "miracle" she is alive after Mickey Rourke's loaded gun once accidentally went off in her purse, leaving a bullet lodged just inches away from her heart.
The Wild Orchid star wed first husband Rourke in 1992 and in her new memoir, Beauty, Disrupted, she admits she nearly lost her life when the actor's gun, which he carried for safety, discharged and sent a bullet whizzing into her chest.
And Otis admits she kept the terrifying incident a secret for years so as to not attract bad publicity.
In an excerpt from the book in the New York Post, she explains, "We were almost at the restaurant when I looked down and saw a .357 Magnum on the floor near my feet... Mickey parked the car and leaned towards me, his voice soft but firm. 'Otis, remember, it's for our protection. I am sorry, though. I'll talk to the guys about putting these things away.'
"What I didn't know was that he thought it would be a good idea to stash the gun inside my bag."
The couple ate dinner and returned home, where she then put her purse down in the kitchen.
She continues, "I slung my bag off my shoulder and tossed it onto the counter. Boom! A tremendous noise reverberated through the kitchen... And just then I noticed that everyone was staring at me, their eyes widening. I stood there, suspended in time. My head reeled. I began to sway slowly from side to side... I looked down at my bluejeans, my white shirt, and my black leather jacket. What was this strange red puddle flowing out around me in an eerily perfect circle?
"I looked back up at the guys, confused and bewildered... I gasped, and then a wild scream erupted from me. The gun in my purse, the one without a safety, had discharged the second I'd slung my bag onto the counter.
"I wailed. It hurt so much to move. 'This is a nightmare. Clean this up!' Mickey was agitated. I could tell he had grave concerns that the would press would get wind of the incident. I panicked, wondering which was more important: my life or covering up the fact that I'd been shot with Mickey Rourke's gun?"
"I had been hit with a hollow-point bullet. It was a miracle I was alive - never mind alive with my arm still attached to my body! The bullet had entered just two inches from my heart. The police questioned me, but no charges were filed."...

So, this is neat. Chris Brown appeared on Gma yesterday. Robin Roberts questioned Brown on the Rihanna "incident" (here, incident means "time he bit her and punched her in the head until she was almost unconscious because she tried to look at his phone"). Despite having approved these questions beforehand, Brown lost his shit, ripped off his shirt, punched out a window and left, then took to Twitter saying, "I'm so over people bringing this past shit up!!! Yet we praise Charlie sheen and other celebs for there bullshit."
General illiteracy aside, here's where it actually gets infuriating. Not only will ABC not press charges, thereby throwing Brown in jail for violating probation, they want him back on Gma to finish plugging his album.
I hate everything.

Modern celebrity scandals are generally weak. Often completely fabricated and publicized inches beyond its life, every so-called scandal accompanies record drops, movie premieres and reality show debuts. These kids today with their Dan Fogelberg, Zima, hula hoops, and Pac Man videogames, they just don't know how good our grandparents had it. Because back then, shit got real.

Dick and Liz's story is dramatic and crazy and oddly classy, though it shouldn't have been, what with all the homewrecking and two-timing and probable itchy redness.

It turns out that Internet reports on Mickey Rourke's engagement to model girlfriend Elena Kuletskaya are false. A representative for the actor has exclusively confirmed to Gossip Cop, "Reports of an engagement are untrue."
Mickey's representative, moreover, sets the record straight on the 57-year-old film star's dating partner. "Mickey's girlfriend is Ana Makarenko," the representative says in a statement.
Earlier this week, New York Post brought to attention a story that claimed Mickey Rourke already engaged to Elena Kuletskaya and planned to wed her this spring in her native Russia. Mickey Rourke's representative has shot down reports the actor is heading to the altar, insisting he's not engaged to his Russian girlfriend.
The Wrestler star was rumoured to have proposed to a woman named as 24-year-old model Elena Kuletskaya, with plans to marry her in Moscow next year.
A source told the New York Post's gossip column PageSix: "They haven't booked a venue or made any solid plans. He just knows he wants to do it in April, and he's been asking what is involved in a traditional Russian wedding ceremony."
But Rourke's spokesperson has dismissed the claims and has used the opportunity to set the record straight about the actor's new partner.
The rep tells GossipCop.com, "Reports of an engagement are untrue. Mickey's girlfriend is Ana Makarenko."
Rourke has been married twice before - he divorced Debra Feuer after eight years of marriage in 1989, before marrying Carre Otis in 1992. They split in 1998.

Mickey Rourke has given up dating actresses because his divorce from Carre Otis left him emotionally scarred.
The Wrestler actor endured a tumultuous relationship with Wild Orchid star Otis, which hit an all-time low when Rourke was arrested in 1994 for spousal abuse, two years after the pair wed.
The charges were dropped after the former couple reconciled, but Rourke and Otis failed to save their marriage and their divorce was finalised in 1998.
And even though he's set to star alongside Hollywood beauties Megan Fox and Eva Green in two forthcoming films, Rourke won't ever be tempted into a romance another movie star.
He says, "I don't want to live with an actress again, no matter how they look. I'm working opposite Megan Fox and Eva Green next, and I'm certainly not complaining. But I'll tell you, once bitten..."...

Mickey Rourke has publicly thanked Sylvester Stallone and Sex Pistols star Steve Jones for standing by him when he hit rock bottom.
The actor made a triumphant return to the big screen last year, with a starring role in The Wrestler, after more than a decade struggling with drug addiction and alcoholism.
Rourke also battled through a messy divorce with actress Carre Otis in 1998, following a turbulent relationship.
But the star is thankful he was surrounded by supportive friends, who helped him through the bad times.
He says, "A lot of those who let you down are those who seemed the closest to you. They're the ones running out of your house with the silver when it all goes wrong, and when they jump ship that hurts. There are some people who stuck with me: Sly Stallone has always been a good friend to me. Stevie Jones - he's a good man. Mick Jones, Paul Simonon and Joe Strummer - God rest his soul - from The Clash: they were my guys. And we had a great time."
And Rourke has found a new pal in British actor Jason Statham, after filming scenes together for their new movie The Expendables.
He adds, "I just did a few days with Jason Statham on Sly's new film and he's become a good friend."...

Actor Mickey Rourke has finally "moved on" from his failed marriage to actress Carre Otis - after trying for eight years to reconcile with her.
The pair's six-year union hit an all-time low when Rourke was arrested in 1994 for spousal abuse, two years after they wed.
The charges were dropped after the former couple reconciled, but the Wrestler star and Otis failed to save their marriage, and finally called it quits when their divorce was finalised in 1998.
And despite blaming the split for his downward spiral into depression - resulting in well-documented run-ins with police and movie executives - Rourke admits he's only recently gotten over his ex, who remarried in 2005.
He says, "I still love her. I love her in a different way but I waited for her for eight years (after the divorce) for her to come back. I've moved on now. It's the first time I've been able to say that and mean it."...

Comeback king Mickey Rourke has credited his beloved dogs with saving his life - insisting they helped him through his darkest days.
The actor spent years in the Hollywood wilderness after countless run-ins with police and hot-headed rows with movie executives, leading to the downfall of his big-screen career.
He hit rock bottom after his split from ex wife Carre Otis, and even though he claims he didn't consider suicide, Rourke admits he wished he could hide from his personal pain.
In a candid interview with U.S. TV veteran Barbara Walters, Rourke explains, "I sort of self-destructed and everything came out about fourteen years ago or so ... the wife had left, the career was over, the money was not an ounce.
"What happened was, I was not in a really good place in my head and my heart, and I think when the wife left, it all came down and I didn't want to be here.
"There's always a weak way out. I've always known that. Yeah, I didn't want to be here, but I didn't want to kill myself. I just wanted to push a button and disappear."
But Rourke was spurred on by his love for his pet dogs - confessing he couldn't face leaving them to fend for themselves.
He adds, "The dogs were there when no one else was there. I think I hadn't left the house for four or five months, and I was sitting in the closet, sleeping in the closet for some reason, and I was in a bad place, and I just remember I was thinking, 'Oh, man, if I do this.' And then I looked at my dog, Lowjack, and he made a sound, like a little almost human sound. I don't have kids, the dogs became everything to me. The dog was looking at me going, 'Who's going to take care of me?'"...

Actor Mickey Rourke is still suffering from the pain of his divorce from ex-wife Carre Otis - 10 years after they split.
The Angel Heart star married Otis in 1992 after starring together in movie Wild Orchid.
The pair had a tumultuous relationship, which saw Rourke accused of domestic abuse and Otis admitting to being a heroin addict. They eventually divorced in 1998.
But Rourke confesses he has never fully recovered from the love split - despite their difficult partnership.
When asked if he still pines for Otis, he says, "Pine? No, there's got to be a worse word than that. Not being here would have been much, much easier. It was something really special, but it was just fire on fire."
Rourke is convinced he will never find another woman to match up to Otis' standards - but since the death of his brother Joe in 2004, he no longer holds out hopes of a reconciliation.
He adds, "I waited 10 years for her to come back, until Joe died. And when Joe died I stopped waiting for her. I won't compromise. Carre was thunder and lightning. If I can't have thunder and lighting then I won't have anything. It'll be a one-night stand here and there, but I'm not going to compromise. I can't."...

Actor Mickey Rourke was once so depressed he planned to end his life - but only after murdering a man who raped his then-wife.
Rourke has revealed that he was determined to commit suicide and even penned a note to his now ex-wife, Carré Otis.
But before he went through with his threat, he planned to punish a man who had previously raped Otis.
He tells New York Post gossip column PageSix, "I was about to commit two mortal sins, (I planned to kill) a guy who raped Carré when she was on heroin and beat her up."
But the star admits he dropped his ideas of a grisly murder/suicide after visiting his close friend, famed New York priest, Father Pete Colapietro.
Colapietro adds, "(He had) a letter he'd written to Carré - a note of a conciliatory nature. I told him, 'Let's fold it up and put it behind the statue of St. Jude.'"
The duo then talked over Rourke's problems and convinced him not to go through with his deadly plan.

She says, "I've withheld information [in the past], because you can't always rely on somebody doing an interview accurately. A lot of the writing is very difficult - journeying through my childhood, reliving some of the rapes, the upset of a marriage that didn't work, the loneliness at points in my career. It's been a healing process, very liberating but very painful."...
