Singer Elle King is facing criticism for her performance at the Grand Ole Opry last week.
The singer was slammed by fans for appearing to take the stage under the influence of alcohol. Several concertgoers captured her slurring her words, using coarse language and telling the audience she was” hammered” and then began to perform Parton’s 2001 song “Marry Me,” during which she appeared to forget the words.
The Grand Ole Opry issued an official apology. “We deeply regret and apologize for the language that was used during last night’s second Opry performance,” the statement read.

LeGrand Gold, a man with stage four colorectal cancer, got his dying wish to meet Dolly Parton.
In December, he received from Parton allowing him to have one of his ten dying wishes, which were written on a napkin, granted.
Gold has been battling cancer since 2021. In early December, he was given bad news during a doctor’s visit.
“The scans showed the cancer spreading and getting outside of my liver, and so they said the chemo is not working anymore, the radiation is not working anymore,” Gold told CNN. “They just sent me home and said be with your family.”
On December 25, Gold’s wife, Alice Wills Gold, posted a reel on Instagram showing a video of him speaking to Parton over the phone.
“And I forgot to tell you all that Papa G got to meet Dolly P! Wishes come true! Dream big, y’all,” Wills Gold wrote in the caption.

Some folks weren’t as thankful as they should’ve been for Dolly Parton’s halftime show during the Dallas Cowboys’ Thanksgiving game last week. But her younger sister Stella Parton came to her defense in a scathing tweet Sunday (November 26th), calling out those who weren’t pleased with our recent cover star rocking a cheerleader costume.
“I personally thought my big sister Dolly was cute as hell in her Dallas Cowboys cheerleading costume at the half time show on Thanksgiving,” Stella wrote. “To those of you being so critical of a 77 year old kicking up her heels, I say fuck yourself. Shame on you not her.”
In the middle of the Cowboys’ turkey game showdown against the Washington Commanders, Dolly sang classics like “Jolene” and “9 to 5” as well as covers of Queen’s “We Are the Champions” and “We Will Rock You” in support of her new album Rockstar.

From the minute Dolly Parton could talk, she was singing. Sometimes, she felt singing by herself wasn’t enough. She had dreams of being a star, after all. She needed to practice working with backup singers. So the “Coat of Many Colors” singer would often rope her sisters into performing with her.
The Queen of Country admits she ‘musically abused’ her sisters
In Parton’s first memoir, Dolly: My Life and Other Unfinished Business, she writes about how she used to all but force her sisters to sing with her.
“My sisters were musically abused,” she wrote. “That is the only way I can think of to describe what I put them through in my constant search for musical satisfaction. Stella and Cassie were my chief victims. Of course, I was always the star, and I made them sing backup.”
Parton would make any kind of deal, promise, or threat...

Dwayne Johnson and Kelly Clarkson have paid tribute to the late country singer Loretta Lynn by dueting one of her classic songs.
The pair covered the sixties hit “Don’t Come Home A Drinkin’ (With Lovin’ On Your Mind)” on The Kelly Clarkson Show.
In the Kellyoke segment of the show, the pair took to the stage to sing, with The Rock surprising fans with his “unexpected” voice.
“I didn’t know Dwayne could sing, he sounded great,” wrote one fan on YouTube.
“I don’t know how you convinced him to sing Kelly Clarkson, but Dwayne Johnson you have a voice!! Please sing more often!” commented another.
Despite fan’s surprise, Johnson can be heard singing for his role as Maui in the Disney film Moana.
Others were impressed by the American actor’s natural flair for country music: “His voice really actually fits that song. Who would have...

Loretta Lynn, the Kentucky coal miner’s daughter whose songs about life and love as a woman in Appalachia touched millions, has died aged 90.
In a statement provided to The Associated Press, Lynn’s family said she died on Tuesday (4 October) at her home in Hurricane Mills, Tennessee. Her cause of death has not been disclosed.
Lynn launched her career in the early Sixties, when she already had four children.
Her songs, which painted a portrait of the musician as a tough, defiant woman, were in stark contrast to the stereotypical image of most female country singers at the time. She wrote unapologetically about sex and love, cheating husbands, divorce and birth control.
Lynn’s biggest hits came in the 1960s and 1970s, including “Coal Miner’s Daughter”, “You Ain’t Woman Enough”, “The Pill”, “Don’t Come Home a Drinkin’ (With Lovin’ on Your Mind)”, “Rated X” and “You...

Even though Dolly Parton's beloved Smoky Mountains were devastated by deadly wildfires in 2016, she knew the "mountain strong" people affected by the natural disaster would rise again. "Everybody's got that spiritual background," she said of the locals who live in the same area where she spent her humble early years. "I think that good neighbors and faith and trust in God — and in one another — helps everyone pull together as a team. You got to pull as a community; as a family. That's the only way you can keep going." Her strong faith is what has helped the country legend, 72, pull herself through some of the toughest struggles in her own life. Dolly and her husband, Carl. (Photo Credit: R/R) "I hurt like everybody else. I'm not always happy," Dolly has admitted, and she's faced several hurdles and heartaches through the years, including a family tragedy when she...

This week! Do people have a right to be obnoxiously gay in public? What famous divas also have singing sisters? What popular songs are really gay duets? More!
Have a question about gay male entertainment or need life advice? Contact me here (and be sure and include your city and state and/or country!)
Q: I am curious about duets by mainstream artists with other men, specifically love songs, and more specifically overtly gay ones — or at least those that could be interpreted as such. I think back to RuPaul and Elton John’s remake of “Don’t Go Breakin’ My Heart” on his Duets album and how excited I was, novelty notwithstanding, that it was a duet between two men. I love the hell out of Robbie Williams because of his “Swing While You’re Winning” tribute album, because it has a straight-up gay duet with Rupert Everett and...
