Stella's philanthropic side includes speaking up against and
volunteering time to help raise awareness of issues of poverty and
domestic violence.
Was named Mainstream Country Artist of the Year in 2002 by the
Christian Country Music Association (CCMA).
Was awarded the Female Vocalist of the Year trophy in 2004 by the
Christian Country Music Association (CCMA).
Stella has been named Honorary Ambassador of Country Music in New
Zealand. She also holds this honor stateside in Kentucky, Louisiana,
and Pennsylvania.
Wrote and recorded a song in 1975 called "Ode to Olivia" in response to the backlash Olivia Newton-John was receiving simply for being a "foreigner" in the country music industry, after being nominated for several awards.
Has had 27 chart singles including "I Want To Hold You In My Dreams"
and "Danger Of A Stranger."
Performed on WIVK Radio in Knoxville, Tennessee with older sister
Dolly Parton. The two performed the Louvin Brothers song "Because She Is My
Mother".
