We explore the TV episodes that borrow the structure of 1998’s Sliding Doors to discover what is and what might have been…
The film Sliding Doors had a bit of a moment back in 1998. Following a two-tier narrative structure, Peter Howitt’s film explores how different things might be if Gwyneth Paltrow’s Helen Quilley misses her tube home. In one timeline, she catches her train and makes it home in time to catch her boyfriend cheating, and in the other, she remains blissfully unaware.
Though not as fondly remembered two decades later, Sliding Doors belongs with Groundhog Day and It’s A Wonderful Life in the ranks of time-bending films that have inspired numerous structural riffs in TV episodes. Cinematically, it’s used to portray the various ironies and agonies that plague the two Helens (an anniversary special we’re sure we’ll never see), but...

CBS has put in development America, U.S.A., a single-camera theme park workplace comedy from husband and wife duo of TV writer-producer Michael Kramer and actress Lilli Birdsell (Turn), writer-director-producer Alex Reid (Brooklyn Nine-Nine) and CBS TV Studios.
Written by Kramer and Birdsell, America, U.S.A. is a young workplace ensemble set at a Colonial-times theme park called America, U.S.A.
Reid executive produces and is set to direct and showrun. Kramer and Birdsell co-executive produce with Adam Peck.
Based loosely on real-life theme park Colonial Williamsburg, Birdsell got the idea for America, U.S.A. when she was doing research for her recurring role as Martha Washington on AMC series Turn. Birdsell brought the idea to husband Kramer, and the duo then went to Reid.
While the show will not be about politics, its setting offers an opportunity to tell stories...

I have higher hopes for this then the similarly themed (and terrible) 9/Tenths. Written and directed by Conor Horgan and starring Rory Keenan, Ciarán McMenamin, Kelly Campbell, and Alex Reid, I don't have much on the film and the production company behind it isn't giving us anything yet, but I do know that it's having it's world premier on July 11th in Galway. Anyone going to be there?
Two couples hide out in a remote holiday home, trying to escape the consequences of a breakdown of society. Their relationships deteriorate as supplies grow scarce and they face increasing threats from hungry outsiders. In order to increase their chances of survival, they each have to make choices they never imagined would confront them.
That's all for now folks..

Today the first official still was posted from Pathe's The Descent 2, which stars Douglas Hodge, Krysten Cummings, MyAnna Buring, Alex Reid, Saskia Mulder and Nora-Jane Noone. Directed by Jon Harris, The Descent 2 picks up immediately after the events depicted in The Descent Sarah (MacDonald), emerges alone from a cave system following an expedition with her five friends in the Appalachian mountains. Distraught, injured and covered in the blood of her missing companions, Sarah is incoherent and half-wild with fear. Skeptical about her account of events and convinced Sarah's psychosis hides far darker secrets, Sheriff Vaines forces her back into the caves to help locate the rest of the group. Trapped by falling rocks, the rescue party are driven deep into the caverns, and as one by one the fate of the missing girls is revealed, Sarah is forced to confront her deepest fears.

- Quick Links > Neil Marshall > The Descent > Doomsday > Lionsgate Films > Official Trailer In 2002 a film by the title of Dog Soldiers made its debut on the festival circuit and went on to see a limited theatrical release and worldwide video/DVD distribution. It was the debut feature from writer/director Neil Marshall, about a group of hard-drinking, soccer-loving Scottish soldiers who, while on a seemingly routine training exercise in northern Scotland mountains, cross paths with a pack of lycanthropes (werewolves to the lay person), and must battle the beasts with everything from guns, knives, and grenades, to broadswords, makeshift flamethrowers, everyday household items, and when all else fails, hand to hand combat. Filled with audacious violence, a dark sense of humor, and loads of movie references (Saving Private Ryan, The Matrix, Jaws and Predator to name a few), Dog Soldiers garnered a substantial cult following among horror fans that flocked
