Exclusive: Sony Pictures Television has finalized a new licensing deal with Paramount Global for comedy series The King of Queens to continue to be available on Paramount linear cable networks. The new pact also includes for the first time streaming rights on Paramount+ for all nine seasons and on Pluto TV for some (currently Seasons 1-3).
Paramount Global would not specify which linear networks will be carrying The King Of Queens. The sitcom has been running on the company’s TV Land and CMT.
Sony TV took The King of Queens out a year ago, offering rights across all linear and digital platforms starting in April 2024. The new pact with Paramount Global kicked in at the start of the month, with the show already available on Paramount+ and Pluto TV.
The deal is not exclusive — The King of Queens continues to also be available on NBCU platforms, including Peacock, as well as in broadcast syndication.

“Kevin Can Wait” has been canceled by CBS after two season, Variety has learned.
The CBS sitcom stars Kevin James, Leah Remini, Taylor Spreitler, Mary-Charles Jones, James Digiacomo, Ryan Cartwright, Lenny Venito, Gary Valentine, and Leonard Earl Howze. James, Rock Reuben, Rob Long, Jeff Sussman, Andy Fickman, Tony Sheehan, and Steve Mosko are executive producers for Sony Pictures TV and CBS Television Studios.
“Kevin Can Wait” underwent a creative overhaul between seasons one and two, with original co-star Erinn Hayes’ character written off the show and Remini joining the cast, reuniting James with his former “King of Queens” co-star.
But the show still saw a big ratings slide in its second season. The cancelation after investing in two seasons is a tough cut for Sony Pictures Television, which will shop the series to other buyers.

CBS has opted not to pick up a third season of its Kevin James comedy series Kevin Can Wait.
This is one of the biggest casualties at CBS this season. The network had set out to shake things up on Monday, where its ratings fortunes had fallen. It has now canceled Kevin Can Wait, Superior Donuts and Scorpion and only has renewed Man with a Plan.
Fueled by the popularity of its star Kevin James and boosted by The Bing Bang Theory as a lead, Kevin Can Wait got off to a blazing start in fall 2016 and went on to become a sturdy Monday 8 Pm anchor. The series ranked as the most watched and highest rated new comedy last season. But there was some ratings decline over the course of the season.
Additionally, midway through Season 1, the series parted ways with co-creator and showrunner Bruce Helford, who now steers ABC’s Roseanne revival.

“Biology teacher Scott Voss (Kevin James) attempts to become a successful mixed-martial arts fighter in an effort to raise money to prevent extra-curricular activities from being axed at his cash-strapped school…”
Much like his comedy-movie cohort Adam Sandler, the films of Kevin James can be hit and miss, for every I Now Pronounce You Chuck & Larry there’s a Zookeeper; and the mixed reception afforded his solo efforts (although I’m man enough to admit I actually enjoyed Paul Blart: Mall Cop) didn’t bode well for Here Comes the Boom… So imagine my surprise when the film turned out to be more than just another Happy Madison produced gross-out comedy and is in fact a sentimental tale of...

Chicago – Seeing the words “Happy Madison Production” on any film means a broad, unfunny and formulaic comedy is about to emerge – usually with company founder Adam Sandler. Although “Here Comes the Boom” has some of those dulling elements, it’s Kevin James who is sincere and motivated as a cage match fighter.
Rating: 3.5/5.0
The set-up to the premise – James is a teacher at a school that is cutting it’s music program and popular music teacher, so naturally James fights in mixed martial arts cage matches to earn money to save the day – is straight out of the Happy Madison playbook. What separates it from Sandler-land is the everyman charm of Kevin James, and the odd collection of characters that help his achieve his Ultimate Fighting Championship dream. With shades of “Rocky” and a unique approach to filming the fight sequences, “Here Comes the Boom” is not bad.

Well you know Mma is officially huge when Adam Sandler and Happy Madison Productions decide to make a comedy about it. Here Comes the Boom stars Kevin James as a lazy high school biology teacher who in danger of losing his job. Well, at least Kevin James has lost some weight. That's about the only praise I can come up with after watching the trailer for Here Comes the Boom, a comedic take on the world of Mma fighting that feels like just an Adam Sandler-esque version of Warrior. It's no coincidence that this feels like The Waterboy with Mma fighting as director Frank Coraci is behind the film (and Henry Winkler mentoring) which sees James as a teacher moonlighting as a mixed-martial arts fighter in an effort to raise money to save the school's music program. It doesn't look funny at all and wastes the song Vox Populi by 30 Seconds to Mars. The last time Kevin James played the main lead in a movie, we got Paul Blart: Mall Cop. Keeping with occupation-themed titles, this time it’s Zookeeper. The plots of both are pretty similar: overweight guy tries to win the hot girl, making many humorous mistakes along the way. I’m sure the intention was to have the audience laughing throughout, but very little of Zookeeper is actually funny.
It’s difficult to say where it all went wrong, since the whole thing was pretty messy. It’s not that we’ve seen this been done before. I wouldn’t have even minded if the jokes were re-used, at least there would have been some. If you’re going to do something unoriginal, you should try to make it as good, preferably better...

Title: Zookeeper Directed By: Frank Coraci Written By: Nick Bakay, Rock Reuben Cast: Kevin James, Rosario Dawson, Leslie Bibb. Donnie Wahlberg, Joe Rogan Screened at: AMC Empire, NYC, 7/6/11 Opens: July 8, 2011 Some guys seem unable to make the scene with the babes, at least with the ones that our culture considers hot. There are ways to correct this flaw, the most imaginative being told in Rostand’s novel “Cyrano de Bergerac,” wherein the handsome but tongue-tied Christian hires the physically ugly but poetic Cyrano to hide and become Christian’s voice. Zookeeper
Stars: Kevin James, Leslie Bibb, Rosario Dawson | Written by Nick Bakay, Rock Reuben | Directed by Frank Coraci
If you’re going to do something unoriginal, you should try to make it as good, preferably...
