Broadcaster Modern Times Group has acquired British distributor Drg for an undisclosed sum.
As part of the acquisition, Jeremy Fox [pictured] returns to the distributor as chief executive with immediate effect while Drg group managing director Jonathan Jackson will leave the business.
The rest of the management team, including senior vice president of sales Patrick Roberts, managing director of acquisitions and formats Andrea Jackson and Anke Stoll, head of scripted acquisitions and development, will remain at the business.
The deal for The Inbetweeners, Doc Martin and Catch Phrase distributor is believed to be worth around £18m, as first reported by Broadcast last month. Mtg, which operates the Viasat portfolio of channels, is thought to have beaten Sky to the acquisition, with the News Corp-backed company thought to have bid around £12m.
Mtg executive vice-president of content Patrick Svensk said last year that the firm planned to make acquisitions following its purchase of Central and Eastern European producer Paprika...

BBC Three is to air the Us version of reality series Don't Tell The Bride. The UK original - which follows a series of grooms as they attempt to organise their wedding without the bride's intervention - first aired in 2007. The American adaptation, in which the groom is given $$25,000 to spend, premiered on Oprah Winfrey's network Own in October 2011. "Bringing the Us version back to the UK is a real coup and testament to the quality of the series," Drg exec Patrick Roberts told The Hollywood Reporter. The UK version (more)...

Another day, another "Glee"-related outrage.
This time, IrishCentral.com columnist Patrick Roberts is up in arms over what he considers to be the ridiculous Irish stereotypes portrayed in "Pot O' Gold," in which "Glee Project" winner Damian McGinty dressed solely in green, sang a song made famous by Kermit the Frog and pretended to be a leprechaun.
"Producer Ryan Murphy, with all that Irish heritage should be ashamed of himself," Roberts writes. "It was 'Amos and Andy' except for an Irish character."
We have one response: Welcome to the "Guys, That's Not an Accurate Portrayal of my Homeland!" club, comprised of about 80 percent of my fellow Garden State natives fed up with trying to explain how the meatheads on "Jersey Shore" make up just a small percentage of our fair state's population and besides, they're not even from New Jersey anyway.
Anyone who watches TV and thinks...

The question heading into Season Five of Gossip Girl is whether the show will return to what made it great - humor, heart and a healthy dose of scandal - or continue on the path last season went down, with convoluted, over-the-top stories and, worse yet, our beloved characters not even acting like themselves.
So, did tonight offer fans reason for hope? Yes is most definitely the word.
Between the pregnancy reveal - so surprising I really didn't think Gossip Girl of all shows would go there - the tie-in with Daniel's novel, Nate's latest liaison and Chuck channeling his inner James Dean, "Yes, Then Zero" was a resounding success. We can only hope future episodes build on this and don't fizzle out.

Last night's Gossip Girl featured a political scandal and a battle royale between Blair and Serena that easily trumped Tripp's bid for Congress in intensity and bitterness.
Here's an episode guide to "The Grandfather: Part II" if you missed it. Now, here's a rundown of what worked, what didn't and why. Fortunately, most of it did work.
Blair and Serena are at each other's throats. Why? Who really even remembers with these two. All that matters is that their game of one-upmanship is on, b!tches!
B didn't want S at Tripp van der Bilt's election party (more on Tripp later), but she showed with fake boyfriend Patrick Roberts. Meanwhile, B had her own fake Bff.
Determined to make S jealous, B made a friend at Nyu. A friend who it turned out was a call girl. S outed her to Chuck. B outed S fake-dating her movie star beau.

Gossip Girl's latest installment was a quality one, if only because it featured some backstabbing and scheming - some we saw coming and some we did not - along with a little comic relief and some moments that were so straight-up b!tchy they caught us off guard.
In essence, vintage Gossip Girl at its near-best.
Monday night's episode was all about Chuck's big hotel opening, and its proprietor doing what the episode's title implies - trying to succeed in this business venture.
It wasn't easy. He was mad at Blair over last week's incident, and him being pissed just made Ms. Waldorf determined to make herself feel important and involved.
They ended up patching things up in a believable and enjoyable manner, although she and Serena are now so in a fight, which is also believable in Gossip Girl land.
Meanwhile, Dan and Olivia are still going strong,...
