Two words could be used to describe comics in 2015: scandal and rebirth. The scandals happened off the pages at both companies large and small, and the rebirth happened in the comics themselves.
Graphic Policy reported that former Dark Horse Comics editor-in-chief Scott Allie bit writer Joe Harris (X-Files Season Ten) at the Boom! Studios party at San Diego Comic Con, and he was demoted to “executive editor” even though an assault of this kind would be grounds for dismissal at almost any other company. There was also another ethical breach at Dark Horse when The Rainbow Hub journalist Emma Houxbois reported that former Bleeding Cool editor Hanna Means-Shannon broke a Dark Horse-related story while it was under embargo and didn’t disclose the fact that she was taking a job with the company.

The DC Universe Animated Original Movies line has delivered some absolutely terrific comic book adaptations (Jay Oliva’s two-part Batman: The Dark Knight Returns comes to mind), and also some thoroughly mediocre ones (like most of the Superman entries). It’s impressive how much work goes into animating these direct-to-video titles, but a fair share of them have been unfortunately sidetracked by stilted voice acting and weak writing.
Son of Batman, which loosely adapts Grant Morrison and Andy Kubert’s “Batman and Son” arc, is far from the worst of the Dcu Animated titles, though that’s probably the highest praise I can give it. While the animation is damn-near flawless, and the voice acting is mostly above average, this tonally dissonant offering ends up taking on more story than it can handle.

Once again, a look into the future, with some very interesting looks at the past, including the reprinting of a comic that was never released in America in the first place, the infamous Elseworlds 80 Page Giant that was pulped because of concerns about Superman’s babysitter.
And of course, a whole lot of #3 issues, which is traditionally the issue where Spider-Man guest stars.

If you dug Robert Kirkman's "Walking Dead" episode last night, you weren't alone. He was a compliment magnet last night in the Twitter Report feed, and though Kirkman didn't direct, he did leave to door open to that possibility for next season.
Elsewhere, airport pat-downs courtesy of the Tsa were a hot topic. John Layman submitted his feelings on the matter in no uncertain terms, while James Robinson got sentimental about Michael Jackson and Rebekah Isaacs believes that she's discovered the worst Four Loko has to offer. Check out her warning after the jump along with some Chris Samnee art the hypothetical Harry Potter contemplations of Joe Hill.
I'm @brianwarmoth, and this is the Twitter Report for November 22, 2010.
"The Walking Dead" pt. 1: @RobertKirkman People are asking. To confirm: Yes, tonight is the episode I wrote. I did not direct this episode or any this season. Maybe next season.

DC Comics has announced a renewed focus on the stars of its titles in January. We're going to need to create a new file for this one. Let's file it under: What the fuck? Maybe awesome, definitely insane.
I've been lamenting the remake/reboot/what-the-fuck-ever of The Crow for some time now. While it has spawned a legion of horrendous films and an even more horrendous television show, the original Brandon Lee film is still one of my favorite comic book movies of all time. So when it was announced that Stephen Norrington was developing a new film, I was less than enthused, given his less-than-stellar track record (Blade = good. The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen = apocalyptically bad).
Now? Now I don't know what to think.
Because the news broke recently that producer Edward Pressman has brought on a new writer. And that writer is none other than Nick Cave. Yes, Murder Ballads and The Boatman's Call Nick Cave, of Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds.

Are you reading James Robinson’s Superman? You should be. They’re amazing stories. The Alex Ross covers should be enough to tip you off that you’re in for a treat.
But the best part is that they prominently feature Krypto, the Dog of Steel.
I’ve been a huge fan of Robinson’s writing ever since The Golden Age, with Paul Smith’s gorgeous, evocative art. It made me nostalgic for an era of comics I never read.
Starman knocked me out. I loved it so much that I had someone make a logo for me so I could have a leather jacket like Jack’s, which I still wear all the time (weather permitting), even though there was a ten year stretch when no one knew what it was about. People still ask me if it means I’m an Aquarius. That’s okay. I’m not,...

The Baltimore Comic-Con Superman panel was moderated by editor Matt Idleson and included the new creative team behind Superman, Action Comics and Supergirl, which will begin having a closer relationship with each other (which one fan in the crowd unfortunately referred to as "the Supergirl book becoming a three-way with Action and Superman"). There was Geoff Johns, writer of Action Comics, James Robinson, who recently began writing duties on Superman, and the new Supergirl team of Sterling Gates and artist Jamal Igle.
Towards the end of the panel, Johns pointed out his Uncle Roger who was sitting in the audience and had first gotten him into comics as a child.
Supergirl #35 is the first issue under the new creative team of Gates and Igle. It is said to be a perfect jumping-on point, with a quick introduction to Kara Zor-El, including her origin and place in the DC Universe. And...

Saturday morning at Baltimore Comic-Con, DC Comics held their usual DC Nation panel featuring Jimmy Palmiotti, Geoff Johns, Sterling Gates, James Robinson, Sean Mckeever and Ian Sattler. The panel was hosted by Dan Didio who actually invited a mustached fan named Brian onto the panel after he praised the weekly series Trinity. Geoff Johns complimented the same fan for being able to “rock the ‘stache.” When the same fan referred to the Green Lantern Corps as “NYPD Green”, Johns stated he would be stealing this title.
After fan Brian spoke highly of Trinity, Didio added that the main focus of the series is the great influence of the three heroes and how important they have been not only to the Dcu but to the multiverse as a whole. He commented that this made the series a complete counterpoint to 52, which explored the mainstream DC Earth spending a year without the three icons.

Sherlock Holmes is headed back to the big screen as New Line Cinema has acquired the action-adventure pitch Holmes and Watson from Darkness Falls producers William Sherak and Jason Shuman. The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen scribe James Robinson is attached to pen the script. The reinvented Holmes film will revolve around the descendants of the legendary sleuth and his sidekick Dr. Watson and will be set in modern-day London. The heir to the Holmes legacy will be portrayed as a twentysomething playboy who uses his talents mainly to pick up girls -- until he is unwittingly drawn back into the family detective business by a young, sexy Dr. Jane Watson. Combining their respective skills as their great-great-grandfathers had, the two investigators find themselves in grave danger as they unravel a complex mystery involving the murder of Watson's best friend.
