Directed by Vincenzo Natali

There is such a thing as “pre-critic” movies. These are the films that had a major psychic impact on a writer or thinker way before they have even considered (or even imagined) the possibility of having cinematic sensibilities or intellectual engagement with movies as art-objects. These movies tend to be pop culture touchstones; movies like the first Star Wars film or Ghostbusters or Pulp Fiction are common ones in part because of their ubiquity. But as with all generalizations, there are always outliers and oddities. One of my pre-critic movies, which I saw as a young man of fifteen on Canadian cable on a sunny Saturday afternoon, was Vincenzo Natali’s 1997 sci-fi horror film Cube. To this day, it remains one of my very favourite films, a scrappy little piece of government-funded genre weirdness that gets by on crack direction,...

One huge answer and still so many questions! On "To Lie For," the identity of Theresa's (and possibly Derek's) killer was finally revealed.
Was it who you expected? Find out below...
There's another Sutton and her name's Emma. | permalink
C'mon Alec, that's the understatement of the century. It's also the most overdue confession...ever! Poor Dan really lost it this week and I don't blame him one bit. To no one's surprise, the autopsy report revealed that Theresa didn't die in the pool and was killed by blunt force trauma to the head. Hmm, same as Derek. There was also the evidence of limestone under her nails, which placed her at the quarry at the time of death.
So a few weeks back after Theresa first disappeared, Alec told Thayer that everything he was doing was to protect him. That comment set off a lot of alarms with viewers. Then...

Last week's concluding scene on The Lying Game left us with a lot of questions for Ted Mercer. Mainly: why was Ted visiting Derek Rogers grave?
In "The Grave Truth," we got more answers than we could've bargained for. Then again, after the ending scene, my head is spinning with a whole new set of questions! Let's break it all down.
Emma (posing as Sutton) confronted Ted at Derek's grave. She wouldn't give him his hospital badge back without getting some answers first. I have to say she really has some balls considering Ted was one of the main suspects of The Lying Game Season 2.
Alec had a great point when he stopped Dan from choking Ted out at the police station: Ted may make a lot of mistakes, but look at the guy, he's not the killer. Ted was practically crapping his pants!

Ten months or ten days? The season two premiere of The Lying Game "The Revengers" picked up almost where it left off despite the super long hiatus.
Shortly after what was an Unholy Matrimony in which Alec was arrested for murder just moments after he said his vows to Rebecca, we resume to attend Alec's arraignment. So did he make bail?
That would be a big fat "yeah right!" Nevermind the fact that Alec was found with the murder weapon in his golf bag, we later saw that Rebecca may have bribed the judge in order to secure that he didn't get an option for release. She seemed pretty okay with the fact that he could be facing the death penalty. Did Rebecca just become the creepiest character on The Lying Game?
Considering Rebecca's evil daughter and cohort Sutton at one point physically recoiled from her touch, I'm going to...

The Lying Game Sneak Peeks: Weekend of Living Dangerously
Of all the developments that came in last week's episode of The Lying Game, the deliberate attempt by Sutton to drive Emma and Ethan apart dealt the most damage. All the incriminating pictures in the world are nothing if there's dissension among the ranks of the good guys and due to Sutton's lies and hurt feelings, the alliance against Alec is quite fractured.
In the penultimate episode, airing Monday, that fracture still hasn't healed, with Ethan holing up in his home and refusing to talk to Emma. It seems their chilly interaction (or lack thereof) in the courtroom last week has become the norm, at least until they figure out what actually happened while Ethan was at the ranch with Sutton. As much as I try to understand Sutton Mercer, throwing off a murder investigation due to your own insecurity and...

Rodrigo Gudino does not sleep. I'm convinced of it. Between running the Rue Morgue empire and now working on the Rue Morgue Cinema first feature film, The Last Will and Testament of Rosalind Leigh, I can't see where the man has time to lay his head down to rest. And today he's shared with us the name if the star of Rosalind Leigh, Canadian actor Aaron Poole.
Poole, a 2009 Genie Award Best Actor nominee, has been featured in such films as This Beautiful City, Killing Zelda Sparks and Adoration.
The Last Will and Testament of Rosalind Leigh will begin filming in October in Toronto and horror fans can only imagine what the mind of Mr. Gudino has waiting for them. Stay tuned for more info!
