Presented by the Humane Society of the United States, the awards are designed to honor animal-protection themes in news and entertainment and are awarded in 18 categories covering every aspect of the industry. Fox TV’s perennial animated series The Simpsons was another big winner, taking the Sid Caesar Comedy Award, and ABC News’ Nightline won a pair of awards in the National TV News Magazine category.
Univision and National Geographic tied for winning the most trophies with four, and HBO Documentary Films, Nickelodeon and NPR were among other top honorees.

One grocery store employee has wowed fellow staffers and customers alike with the voice of an angel — just in time for the holidays.
Video of Gilly Assuncao performing live, opera renditions of Christmas classics at Russo’s in Watertown, Massachusetts, is making waves on the internet.
In the clip, shared to the market’s Facebook page, the 23-year-old Brazilian native sings “O Holy Night” among the store’s flower display while customers look on.
Karen Russo, the daughter of the store’s owner, told ABC News that her father typically hires a singer to perform music live in the store over the holidays.
