Low and high brow keep a respectable distance in this campy, loose-bowelled adaptation of William Shakespeare’s play The Tempest. Troma Entertainment has been dumping its unique brand of independent shock cinema for almost 50 years, and for connoisseurs looking for their distinct aroma, Shakespeare’s Shitstorm does not disappoint. The uninitiated viewer may leave screenings disgusted and disgruntled. The director would have it no other way. He’s flushing his career with gusto.
This will be the last film from Troma co-founder Lloyd Kaufman, and he is really letting go. “Uncle Lloydie,” the 74-year-old low-budget filmmaking icon, is the centerpiece of the film. He wrote the script with Brandon Bassham, Gabriel Friedman, Frazer Brown, Doug Sakmann, and Zac Amico. Kaufman plays multiple roles in this tangled web of revenge and other fecal matters. As Prospero, Kaufman finds a mouthpiece instead of a codpiece, spouting undeniable truthisms in the name of pseudoscience.

With the highly-anticipated horror Death House being released in cinemas on February 23rd 2018, I got a chance to speak with actress Debbie Rochon about how she first got into acting, her character Leatherlace and the importance of the film as a serving memory to Gunnar Hansen.
How did you first get into acting?
Although I was way-deep background in elementary school musicals (I couldn’t sing) it wasn’t until I was a pre-teen landing a role of a featured extra in the punk rock cult classic Ladies and Gentlemen: The Fabulous Stains (1982) did I really find my calling. I was homeless at the time, but it gave me great purpose. I landed a couple seriously crappy day jobs even though I was underage, they really didn’t check those things in 1979/80. Saved for a couple years and moved from the grimy underbelly in Vancouver to the openly sleazy but...

We have some new stills from Adam Ahlbrandt The Cemetery to share that include two of our favorite summertime staples: bikinis and entrails! We also have details on the film's screening at the Days of the Dead horror convention along with Ahlbrandt's other new flick, Cross Bearer.
From the Press Release:
Horror movies Cross Bearer (2012) and The Cemetery (2013) will be screening Saturday, July 6th, and Sunday, July 7th, at Days of the Dead Indianapolis (Wyndham Hotel, 2544 Executive Drive, Indianapolis, In 46241). Both will be highlighted at the convention’s “Jabb 48-Hour Film Fest,” followed by Q&A panels with the trio behind the features - Adam Ahlbrandt (director/writer/cinematographer), Natalie Jean (lead actress), and Doug Sakmann (Spfx) - all of whom also acted as co-producers.
Cross Bearer, after developing a rabid fan base on the convention and festival circuit the past six months, will be headlining the Saturday night lineup of films.

The Adam Ahlbrandt directed double feature Cross Bearer and The Cemetery has been making the rounds at Cannes, and we have more details on both, including artwork, trailers, and a few stills.
The films were picked up for German speaking territories by Illusions Unlimited, an Austrian Uncut Distribution Company. CEO Emsch Schneider said, "These movies are very cool and gory. Cross Bearer is a back-to-the-roots slasher, and The Cemetery is a gory and violent flick with amazing practical effects. We're honored to release these brutal movies Uncut in German speaking territories." We should hear more about a North American release and other territories shortly.
In The Cemetery (official site here) a team of paranormal investigators must fight for their lives after accidentally releasing a demon from a forgotten cemetery. Alternately gut-punching hilarious and brutally violent, The Cemetery takes the best elements of the old-school slasher film and pushes them to the edge.

"Horror director" Doug Sakmann has teamed up with Gallery Books and author Ryan Brown to bring Brown's zombie novel Play Dead to life. "We always have a lot fun with zombies so I jumped at the chance to work with Ryan and the great source material provided from Play Dead. I decided the best way to go about it was to approach it as if we were making a movie, so we turned sections of the book into scripts," Sakmann explains.

Touchdown!
Finally, someone has mixed two of America's favorite past times: football and zombies!
Based on the just-released novel by Ryan Brown, Play Dead was written and directed by Doug Sakmann and Fangoria has grabbed the first trailer for the movie. According to Sakmann, another is coming.
"We will be releasing a more extreme red-band trailer in conjunction with the NYC Zombie Crawl event Sunday, May 30 in Brooklyn," said Sakmann. That will premiere at the Crawl after-party at the new Knitting Factory in Williamsburg. We’ll have Ryan Brown on hand for a meet-and-greet and to sign books, and before the screening we’ll do a Q&A with myself, Ryan and the cast and crew of Play Dead: The Movie. Also, Joe Frantz of MTV’s Jackass and Viva La Bam has put together an amazing behind-the-scenes feature on the making of the project, which will also be...

Halo-8 Entertainment has announced that Pop Skull will be its first "day and date" DVD/digital film release, timed with the official launch of Halo-8's VOD website Televandalism (in beta since 2008), which offers VOD-streaming subscriptions (all streaming titles for a total subscription of $.99 per month) or DVD-quality downloads ($9.99 each, with instructions for porting them to your TV) of films, comics, fitness/lifestyle videos, webisodes, and video games.
Pop Skull (review) will make its debut both on DVD and on Televandalism July 28, 2009. "Pop Skull is the kind of groundbreakingly different film that needs to be seen to be believed, so we want it seen by as many people as possible," said Halo-8 president Matt Pizzolo. "We know how our audience wants instant access to the newest coolest media, so we're very excited that Televandalism offers a way for us to get new films, comics, and games to our audience even...

On May 31st, more than 250 freshly painted zombies scattered, moaned and tore their way into the citizens of Williamsburg in Brooklyn, New York. Lead by undead ringleader, Doug Sakmann, the living made their way to The Charlston where they began the zombie festivities. With more than 10 years of special effects make-up, Sakmann and his team made up hundreds of blood-soaked undead, immediately creating hordes of zombies who anxiously awaited attacking civilians as 4:30 began to roll around.
With the sun shining, minus the brief rain shower a few minutes before, the now zombified New Yorkers began to attack passing public transportation buses and cop cars. Here Fango (Drew Tinnin and Ben Smith reporting) immediately encountered the rowdy bunch of the undead as we heard “Zombies love 40s” and several other chants (not appropriate for the living) that were being moaned at the top of everyone’s lungs. Wow, we are really early. Myself and fellow Fango writer Ben Smith headed out to Williamsburg in Brooklyn for the bi-annual Zombie Crawl put on by producer and zombie ringleader Doug Sakmann and we definitely had some time to kill. Luckily, after walking up and down Bedford ave. a few times we ran into my friend and filmmaker Sarah Stuve who has a brilliant short film called MyDeadBrain. She was helping setup a sidewalk sale of some fantastic artwork by one of her friends and I just had to mention that there would be Zombies strolling by…and the hour was slowly approaching. They were excited but not enough to get into the full spirit and go get an undead make-over at the Charleston bar down the street. We said our farewells and then moseyed on over to the location where a few Romero fans turned graveyard lurkers had begun to surround the bar.

Fango got the first word from director/cinematographer Adam Ahlbrandt and producer/FX creator Doug Sakmann about their upcoming feature Children Of Torture. The movie is currently in preproduction, and seeking additional financing for a start date this fall.
Having previously helmed the supernatural features Sight and The Burnt House (on which Sakmann served as a co-producer), Ahlbrandt decided to delve into hardcore horror with this project. “It’s my way of going back to the basics,” he says. “I just wanted to write something that I knew would grab people by the neck and beat their faces into hamburger-like pulp. I felt the need to base this movie more in reality than my previous films; I feel that sometimes it’s scarier to have the knowledge that the things you’re watching have happened and could happen to you. The film was based mostly on cults both past and present,...
