Starz has released the first trailer for “Outlander” Season 7, which will premiere June 16.
The new season, inspired in part by Diana Gabaldon’s “Outlander” book series, will waste no time getting into action, picking up on the harrowing events of the Season 6 finale where Jamie (Sam Heugan) and Young Ian (John Bell) were racing to rescue Claire (Caitriona Balfe) before she was tried and wrongfully convicted for the murder of Malva Christie (Jessica Reynolds).
In true “Outlander” fashion, nothing comes easy; the trailer depicts much hardship to come for the Frasers and those they love. The American Revolution is in full swing and the chaos that comes with an emerging nation means the land they once called home is changing. Will Jamie, Claire, Brianna (Sophie Skelton), Roger (Richard Rankin) and their loved ones be able to change with it is a key question this season.

Claire and Jamie’s epic romance has withstood almost everything under the sun, and the Revolutionary War is no exception.
Picking up from the contentious Season 6 finale, the seventh installment of “Outlander” kicks off with Jamie (Sam Heughan) and Young Ian (John Bell) racing against the clock to save Claire (Caitríona Balfe) before she is tried for the murder of Malva Christie, of which she was wrongly accused. Amid their own crisis, yet another obstacle stands in the family’s way: The American revolution.
As the treacherous conflict escalates, Jamie, Claire and the rest of their family must reckon with abandoning the roots they laid down as Jamie steps up for battle, separating himself and Claire once again.
“I’d hoped that Jamie would stay away from it, but maybe he’s supposed to be there, maybe he always was,” Claire says in the trailer, released Thursday by Starz.

“Outlander” is giving fans a little more time before they have to say goodbye — and giving subscribers more of a reason to sign up for a full year instead of just a few months. Season 7 of the time-travel romance will air in two parts, Starz said on Wednesday, with the first half airing this year and the second half waiting for 2024.
Season 7, as previously announced, consists of 16 episodes, the show’s highest order count since Season 1. Like Season 1, which aired in 2014 and 2015, Season 7 will be split into two eight-episode bunches — the “Droughtlander” is officially over on June 16. “Outlander” has already been renewed for a final Season 8, which will consist of 10 episodes and presumably air in 2025 or later.
It is currently unclear if the show, based on Diana Gabaldon’s series of historical-fantasy romance novels, will completely adapt the entire saga. Each season of “Outlander” thus far has adapted (roughly) one...

“Outlander” Season 7 will resume Claire (Caitríona Balfe) and Jamie’s (Sam Heughan) sprawling and globe-trotting love story in June on Starz, the network announced Thursday while also revealing the first images from the new season.
The penultimate season of the time-traveling drama will debut June 16 with the first eight episodes of its extended 16-episode season, with the second half of the two-part season set to premiere in 2024.
After previously announcing the drama would come to a close after Season 8, Starz has already renewed the series for an eighth and final season. “Outlander” fans are in no danger of letting go of the beloved characters, however, as the network has also greenlit a prequel series, titled “Outlander: Blood of My Blood,” which will follow Jamie Fraser’s parents.

The opening title sequence for Outlander Season 7 will be sung by Sinéad O’Connor, following a tradition each season of adapting the show’s theme song by drawing inspiration from upcoming storylines and locations. Season 7 is set to premiere this summer.
“We are honored to have Sinead O’Connor performing ‘The Skye Boat Song.’ Her rendition is, for me, a reminder of all that’s beautiful about Outlander. She is talented beyond measure. Hers is a voice of the ages — one which pierces heart and soul — and embodies the spirit of the show,” says Matthew B. Roberts, showrunner and executive producer of Outlander.
Outlander‘s seventh season will pick up after the events of the Season 6 finale, which saw Claire (Caitriona Balfe) arrested by Richard Brown (Chris Larkin) for the murder of Malva Christie (Jessica Reynolds) and for being a witch.

Put on your kilts and break out the bagpipes in mourning: “Outlander” is coming to an end. The hit Starz TV series has been renewed for an eighth and final season, the premium cable channel announced Thursday. The news comes ahead of Season 7 of the series, which will premiere in Summer 2023.
The news makes it unclear if the show, which is based Diana Gabaldon’s series of historical fantasy romance novels, will adapt the most recent installment, 2021’s “Go Tell the Bees That I Am Gone.” Each season of “Outlander” has thus far roughly adapted one book in the series, with the upcoming seventh season set to cover 2009’s “An Echo in the Bone” and Season 8 presumably covering 2014’s “Written in My Own Heart’s Blood.” That said, Season 7 is set to have an extended 16-episode run, while Season 8 will consist of 10 episodes, so its possible that longer length can help cover all three books.

Starz is spending next summer in Scotland. Season 7 of the channel’s smash hit series “Outlander” will premiere Summer 2023, it was announced Friday. In addition to the release period, the channel also unveiled a first look teaser for the upcoming season.
Based on Diana Gabaldon’s nine-book series of the same name, “Outlander” tells the story of Claire Randall (Caitríona Balfe), a nurse living in 1945 who is transported back in time to the 18th century, where she falls in love with Highland warrior Jaime Fraser (Sam Heughan). The show follows Claire and Jamie’s relationship as they navigate the real-life Jacobite rising and other historical events of the era, before more time travel shenanigans cause them to hop freely throughout history.
Season 7 will cover the events of Gabaldon’s seventh book in the “Outlander” series, “An Echo in the Bone.” Released in 2009, the book sees Jaime and Claire continuing their adventures in the 18th century,...

Starz is leaving a little gift for Outlander watchers just before Christmas.
The premium cable outlet has released the first teaser for the show’s seventh season (watch it below) and announced the series will return in summer 2023 (an actual date will be announced later). A summer premiere will mean about 15 or 16 months between seasons, as season six ended its eight-episode run on May 1.
The coming season will take the sixth and seventh books in author Diana Gabaldon’s series of novels — A Breath of Snow and Ashes and An Echo in the Bone — as its source material. The shortening of season six due to the Covid-19 pandemic means there is still material from A Breath of Snow and Ashes for the show to explore.

Starz is expanding the Fraser family in “Outlander” Season 7 with the addition of Jamie Fraser’s son, William Ranson.
On Thursday, the cable network announced Canadian actor Charles Vandervaart will take on the role of Jamie’s (Sam Heughan) secret son, who was raised by Lord John Grey (David Berry). His mother is Geneva Dunsany, whose estate Jamie worked on as part of his continuing sentence following his role in the Scottish uprising. William does not know that Jamie is his father, though he did meet Jamie when he was a child.
Here’s how the grownup version of the William character will be introduced, per Starz: “William arrives in Wilmington full of patriotic zeal and enthusiasm to join the British Army and help put an end to the escalating tensions in the American Colonies. … On the surface, William Ransom is a courteous aristocrat but simmering under the surface is a Highlander’s fire.

"The Good Wife" is so hot right now, it's hard to believe the CBS drama is in its seventh season. By dropping unnecessary storylines (Kalinda and Bishop) and giving Alicia yet another new life-changing wrinkle (working from home), the show has found new dynamics for many of its long-running characters. In particular, Sunday's third episode of the season, titled "Cooked," was a series highlight and proves that the show's still just as good as ever. -Break- Emmy spotlight: Margo Martindale takes control in 'The Good Wife' season premiere In the episode, Alicia (Julianna Margulies) and new friend Lucca (Cush Jumbo) worked together on a complicated court case involving a mysterious drug dealer, while Eli (Alan Cumming) encouraged Alicia and Veronica (Stockard Channing) to participate in a mother/daughter cooking TV show to help Peter's (Chris Noth) campaign. The hour was written by Luke Schelhaas and directed by Michael Zinber.

The Good Wife, Season 6, Episode 18: “Loser Edit”
Written by Luke Schelhaas
Directed by Brooke Kennedy

When word came down that “Loser Edit” would be another issue-driven episode of The Good Wife – this time, gay marriage was to be the focal point – there was a collective cringe. Making perhaps the biggest splash was "Transparent," which earned three nominations and, since "Orange Is The New Black" earned two nods and "House of Cards" pick up one, that meant that Amazon Prime and Netflix are, at least for one award-giving organization, on equal footing as creators of original programming. The Jill Soloway-created "Transparent" is nominated for New Series, where it will go against "The Affair," "The Knick," "Silicon Valley" and "True Detective." "Transparent" and "Silicon Valley" are also up for Comedy Series, going against "Louie," "Veep" and "Orange Is The New Black." Lest you panic...

The Good Wife, Season 6, Episode 3: “Dear God”
Written by Luke Schelhaas
Directed by Brooke Kennedy
Airs Sundays at 9pm Et on CBS
Remember its early seasons, when The Good Wife was a smart, but often pretty formulaic legal procedural that delighted in exploring odd, archaic, or simply rare avenues of legal practice just for the sheer novel kick of it? Long stretches of “Dear God” feel like a throwback to that simpler, less ethically fraught time, albeit with a much heftier dose of series memory. The episode’s relatively breezy tone makes for a nice tonal break in what is shaping up to be a heavy season, but some of the attempts to keep the broader season-arc pieces moving in the other parts of the episode are markedly less successful.
In the case of “Dear God,” the odd legal avenue of the week is arbitrary Christian arbitration, wherein an...

The Good Wife, Season 5, Episode 20, “The Deep Web”
Written By Luke Schelhaas & Erica Shelton Kodish
Directed by Rosemary Rodriguez
Airs Sundays at 9pm on CBS
Alicia Florrick is in crisis. She lost the man she loved, the one she saw as her lifeboat even in the rockiest storm (and he caused a fair amount of her storms himself). What she really lost, more than Will Gardner, was the possibility Will represented to her. As long as Will was out there, better days were coming for Alicia. She’d leave Peter behind. She’d stop being restrained by roles she felt forced to play. She’d figure out a way to finally just be happy.
With Will gone, Alicia is going to have to learn that the possibility he represented has never been external, that thinking about it that way isn’t productive and isn’t likely to get her to where she needs to be.

The Good Wife, Season 5, Episode 11, “Goliath and David”
Written by Luke Schelhaas
Directed by Brooke Kennedy
Airs Sundays at 9pm Est on CBS
The Good Wife returns from its short winter break this week with an episode that is erratic at best. “Goliath and David” has a mediocre case-of-the-week, an annoying plotline involving Marilyn’s baby, sub-par Lockhart Gardner drama, and hints that the Kalinda/Damian story is going to get as bad as we’d worried. Basically, it is an episode that shows that even at its best, The Good Wife makes the occasional misstep.
The case-of-the-week is the sort of storyline this show almost has to turn out a few times a season, due to its increased episode order. It’s a pulled from the headlines situation that feels selected more so audiences will laugh with recognition than because it’s a particularly interesting or pressing legal issue.
