MGM+‘s Billy the Kid returns for more Wild West shenanigans beginning October 15th, and much of the action can be attributed to the show’s head horse wrangler. Learn more about his role, below, and how Season 2’s scenes came together. Who John Scott What He Does As head wrangler on the Western outlaw drama, Scott — whose 50-plus-year career includes The Revenant — leads a team of about 15, many former rodeo riders. They’re responsible for the care and handling of the mostly quarter horses who do everything from carry actors to pull wagons. His Scott Ranch in Alberta, Canada, at the foothills of the Canadian Rockies, is home to several shooting locations. (Credit: Victoria McFadyen) In Season 2… “We’ve got more actors, more action with the gunfights,” Scott says, as when Billy and boss John Tunstall battle rivals for control of New Mexico Territory in the Lincoln County War.

An admiring nod to ’60s dream siren Daliah Lavi! American-International leaps into an epic Jules Verne comedy about a trip to the moon, a good-looking but slow and unfunny farce that must squeak by on the goodwill of its cast of comedians. Burl Ives is excellent casting as P.T. Barnum, promoting a Greatest Show Off the Earth.

On April 27, five bison carcasses were arranged on the set of the Ice Age film The Solutrean in Alberta, Canada, for a scene that takes place after a hunting expedition. They had been slaughtered and partially skinned the previous day to be used in the scene by a butcher at the direction of the film's animal wrangler, John Scott, on his ranch property an hour and a half away. But the American Humane Association prohibits the use of animals killed for the purpose of film production. And now the Aha, which was monitoring The Solutrean, is investigating the incident.

Some believe it’s based on a terrifying truth, while others harbor the hope that it’s purely fiction, but what many can agree on is that for years the Delta Green role-playing game universe has offered endless hours of eerie entertainment. With a new wave of Delta Green projects now underway, Daily Dead recently caught up with Arc Dream Publishing co-founder and lead Delta Green editor Shane Ivey, who discussed the new RPG and much more in our latest (and in this case, Lovecraftian) Q&A feature.
Thank you for taking the time to answer some questions for us, Shane. For those that are unfamiliar, can you talk a little bit about Delta Green and its Lovecraftian history?
Shane Ivey: Delta Green was a secret unit that conducted psychological operations for the Office of Strategic Services in World War II. It was disbanded with the rest of the Oss after the war.

Exclusive: Mandalay Sports Media has acquired the feature life rights to tell the story of John Scott, a journeyman player who: was voted into this year’s NHL All-Star Game as a captain through an Internet write-in campaign, got traded and then demoted to the minors by a pissed-off NHL because he wouldn’t withdraw and wound up the game’s Mvp before heading back to the minors in Newfoundland. It’s so far-fetched that a screenwriter couldn’t have invented it. Mitch Albom…...

While zombie drama Maggie seems intended as a showcase for Arnold Schwarzenegger's acting range, the star's performance is smothered by the film's deeply affected style. Schwarzenegger plays Wade, a taciturn farmer whose daughter Maggie (Abigail Breslin) has become infected with the "Necroambulist virus." His ostensibly conflicted emotions are almost exclusively presented through stifling extreme close-ups, reducing him to faraway stares and chin-to-chest sighs, making Maggie an object lesson in how not to film your actors. Neophyte screenwriter John Scott's spartan, Cormac McCarthy–esque scenario is unfortunately just as heavy-handed as first-time director Henry Hobson's overwrought direction. Wade brings his daughter back to their family farm after ...

For the most part, I really like the people over at Lionsgate, and when they have a film they really like, they are completely unafraid to show it to critics. But they do have a few habits I am less fond of. For example, if they buy a movie for distribution, they will pull it from festivals so that no one can see it. I'm frustrated with them right now over the film "Maggie," which was announced as part of the line-up for the 2014 edition of the Toronto International Film Festival. I'm trying to remember if there's ever been another Arnold Schwarzenegger film that's played a festival. I don't think so. This was a lovely surprise when it was announced. I don't know director Henry Hobson at all, and the same is true of John Scott, the film's writer. I like the premise, though. A man whose daughter has been...

The Alamo Drafthouse Cinemas, which present contemporary and classic films at their unique restaurant/theaters, have delved into the DVD business- and retro movie lovers can thank their lucky stars. One of the most prominent of the Drafthouse releases is Wake in Fright, a 1971 Australian film classic by Ted Kotcheff, a Canadian born director who had never previously set foot Down Under prior to making this movie. Based on the novel by Kenneth Cook, Wake in Fright is unknown to many film scholars who pride themselves on being acquainted with worthwhile, little-seen films. (I must shamefully admit that I fall into this category myself, having never even heard of the film prior to reviewing the Blu-ray release). Based on the title, I assumed this was a suspense thriller or a horror film. It is neither. In fact, it is virtually impossible to pigeon-hole this movie into a specific genre.

The Black List of 2011 continues with the second-half of the list showcasing the screenplays that received the most number of votes.
Remember, this is a list voted on by Hollywood professionals of what they personally believe to be the best unproduced screenplays written in 2011. You might recognize titles for movies that are in development. That's fine by The Black List rules; the only condition that the screenplay must meet is that it's not being filmed within this calendar year. For Black List 2011 selections like Quentin Tarantino's Django Unchained, that makes it valid for Black List inclusion.
If you've missed the first half of the list you can find it here.

Who knew Timur Bekmambetov was such a huge genre fan? Sure, the man gave us Night Watch and Day Watch , but after Wanted , I figured the man would get pigeon-holed doing nothing but action. Now, he's attached to various genre fare, including Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter (which he's directing) and Apollo 18 (he's producing). Deadline reports he has acquired Maggie , a script that was at the center of a bidding war. The story follows the eponymous teenage character's gradual change from a human to a zombie after she is bit by one. Apparently, the process takes months to occur. Henry Hobson will direct; he has a visual FX background. John Scott 3 scripted...

Welcome to the first in what I'm planning will be a year-long series of weekly reviews for movies that were released in 1981. Before I begin with my review, I should note that while it is my intention to review each movie as close to the thirtieth anniversary of its release as possible, finding a reliable release date can be problematic. It can also be difficult to track down specific movies. From time to time I'll be a little off, but I'll do my best to make a note of it. Sometimes this will be accidental, and sometimes it will be by design. There will be occasions where two of the movies released one weekend are more interesting to me than anything released the next weekend. In cases such as those, I'll go with what looks the most interesting to me. I'll also be looking to the boards for the occasional suggestion.

Although the name Norman J. Warren may not be familiar to some of you, in the UK, amongst cult horror aficionados, his name is synonymous with horror and exploitation. Mostly working in the 1970s, he produced such dubious classics as Satan’s Slave and the Stephanie Beacham-starring Inseminoid.
Moscovitch Music are a new independent British music label working to release some great lost film music, and have produced a lavish CD, and limited edition vinyl LP, featuring the soundtracks to two of Warren’s best loved movies; Terror (1978) and Prey (1977).
