The other day I was attending a marriage function in Bangalore. In one of the rooms where I was sitting with the guests, a radio was humming in the background, though there was a DJ music being played and all the guests on the room where glued to music on their mobiles. However, this radio was humming on, playing Binaca Geet Mala. I asked the owner why he was still playing the pocket radio when music was now available in different forms and that too in customized format in the cloud. He said radio was a part of his growing up and it was a manifestation of nostalgia, which no other format could replace, and the present mode of communication via Radio does not have that engaging aura that Ameen Sayani used to hold and continues to hold through archives.

Govinda Naam Mera(Disney+Hotstar)
Staring: Vicky Kaushal, Kiara Advani, Bhumi Pednekar
Director: Shashank Khaitan
Just for the pleasure of watching Vicky Kaushal and Kiara Advani play a couple of losers, Govinda Naam Mera is worth a dekko. Writer-director Shashank Khaitan displays a funnybone even when the writing gets overly zonked-out. There is an inherent sense of fun intended in the naggingly crazy goings-on that make us laugh out loud even when we don’t want to.
Kaushal and Advani are a riot as a couple of struggling choreographers . One of the high points in the comedy is the trashy song Pappi jhappi where Kaushal and Kiara just let themselves go. It is meant to be an awful song, sung by a doped out zero-talent son of a politician . Hats off to the Meet Bros for composing an appropriately awful song . Most artistes when asked to project mediocrity can’t get it right.

Vicky asked Salman Khan: “Did any girl use any pick-up line on you? And if yes, what’s the worst pick-up line you have heard?”

He then added: “Well, to be honest, I don’t remember any such pick up line.”

We are almost in the year-end celebratory mood and full of emotions about the year that is ending and a fresh new year just about to begin. During such times, a harmless & clean comedy thriller could spell a family entertainer. And quite literally as Shashank Khaitan’s ‘Govinda Naam Mera’ has taken the direct-to-digital route. The film’s title with ‘Govinda’ in it assures that we are in known terrain. The Uri actor stepping in a zone with the same josh makes him a complete actor. With his intense and patriotic roles, one would think that Vicky Kaushal excelled in serious dramas and periodic films but with Govinda Naam Mera, Vicky explores and exploits his fun and goofy side with same ease.
Plot

The festival of Diwali is like the magic ray that illuminates everything it touches and the celluloid is no exception. For years, Bollywood films and storytellers have captured the essence of one of the biggest festivals of India with many of them being immortalised on screens forever.
As the world gets drenched in the colours and shimmer of Diwali, let’s take a look at some of the most iconic sequences in Bollywood movies.
Chachi 420: Kamal Haasan’s 1997 classic ‘Chachi 420’, which was inspired from ‘Mrs Doubtfire’ has one Diwali moment that served as a major driving force for the plot. The titular character of Chachi scores the job as a governess for his own daughter (played by a young Fatima Sana Shaikh) by rescuing her when an errant firecracker injures her.
Vaastav: Remember, “pacchass tola hai pacchass tola”? Yeah it’s from the Sanjay Dutt-starrer ‘Vaastav’ in which he plays a gangster.

Photo: 'Tribhanga'/Netflix Since the onset of the 2020s, an extraordinarily anarchic chain of events, that include a global pandemic and an attempted coup at the U.S. Capitol, has left even the most stable of us on edge. Will there be another insurrection? When can I get the vaccine? What is the next horror in store? These questions may be useful to ask ourselves during these unprecedented times; however, we are mistaken to believe that they have become the only worth contemplating. As we cope with the terror of the past and anticipate the looming tragedies of tomorrow, the gifts of the present are surely dwindling. Indian film star turned up and coming director, Renuka Shahane, crafts space for reflection and the necessary confrontation of the present in the heartfelt and inspiring ‘Tribhanga.’ Three Generations of Women Struggle to Push Aside Their Independence Following the story of...

Continuing with that thought Vaibhav said, “Having an opportunity to work with legends like Kajol ma’am and Tanvi ma’am was like a dream come true. They were very professional and very helpful. Ever since Kajol entered Bollywood in 1992, she has always given us quality films along with her charming characters. Review The Netflix film directed by Renuka Shahane marks the Ott debut of Bollywood actor Kajol, who is seen in a no holds barred, foul-mouthed and fiery avatar.Geetika MantriIt’s a refrain as old as time. As children, many of us think that we are going to do things differently from our parents when it is our turn, only to have our parents tell us that we’ll never understand till we have children of our own. And when the unprecedented challenges of parenthood present themselves, it becomes easier to understand why. Tribhanga, a drama that unfolds across the lives of three generations of women, traverses choppy waters, attempts to showcase the effects of trauma, difficult choices, social prejudice and messy reconciliations in a 95-minute runtime. While underwhelming in parts, the Kajol, Mithila Palkar and Tanvi Azmi starrer is an ode to motherhood and unapologetic women. The Netflix film...

Tribhanga (Netflix)
Starring Kajol,Tanvi Azmi,Mithila Palkar,Kunaal Roy Kapur,Vaibhav Tatwawaadi
Written & Directed by Renuka Shahane
Just like life, Tribhanga is somewhat off-kilter, a little askew, at times uneven and even patchy. But the story of three generations of women from one family, spirited, unorthodox, unfettered, holds together, moles, warts and all. Tribhanga is a fiercely original film, though cinephiles would like to see distinct shades of Ingmar Bergman’s imperishable classic Autumn Sonata in Renuka Shahane’s striking debut film. But that, like much in life, is only an illusion.
The film’s scenes are ignited by the presence of Kajol. The fieriest actress on this side of Fearless Nadia and Geeta Bali, Kajol brings to Tribhanga a kind of unrehearsed ferocity that is at once intimidating, intriguing, and irresistible.
Strangely there aren’t that many confrontation scenes between mother Tanve Azmi and daughter Kajol. Maybe Ms.

Mumbai, Jan 14 (Ians) Actress Mithila Palkar says she is aware that she has the freedom to make her own choices, adding that she is strongly opinionated about the choices that she makes.
These are traits that helped her relate to her character of Masha in the upcoming film "Tribhanga: Tedhi Medhi Crazy", says Mithila, although she doesn't think she is similar to Masha at all.
"The choices that Masha made were the ones that I would never make, but having said that I won't judge her for that because I know where she came from and why she made those choices," Mithila said.
The actress continued: "I think the one thing that binds us together is that whatever are the decisions we take, we are going to be judged for some of them. I feel like we both are aware that we have the freedom to make a choice and...

Actress Kajol enjoyed working on the women-dominated set of her upcoming digital film Tribhanga: Tedhi Medhi Crazy, and recalled how there was a time when men were not willing to participate in gender conversations.
"There was so much estrogen on ‘Tribhanga' sets that we completely beat the testosterone. We had too much fun on the sets and cracked multiple dirty jokes, if you saw the BTS (behind the scenes) of this film -- you would be in splits," Kajol said.
"We were so entertained during the shooting that we rolled on the floor laughing -- it was a blast altogether. There was this one point where Renuka and I had this huge conversation about men and all of a sudden you could see there was utter silence on the set. We realized that all the men around me had kept quiet and no one was willing to look up and participate in this conversation,...

Mumbai, Jan 7 (Ians) Actor Kunaal Roy Kapur says he had to work extensively to ensure that he gets his Hindi diction right in upcoming digital film Tribhanga: Tedhi Medhi Crazy.
He plays Milan, a videographer, tracing the journey of Nayan, a critically acclaimed Marathi litterateur played by Tanvi Azmi, who is unable to write an autobiography. The film, written and directed by Renuka Shahane, also stars Kajol and Mithila Palkar.
"When I found out that my character is going to speak in ‘shudh' Hindi, I was amazed that she believed I could do it. For the character I had to work on my diction and ensure that I don't have any interjections in English," Kunaal said while talking about his preparations to get his Hindi diction right.
"We usually have a tendency to speak ‘Bambaiya' Hindi where you throw in a few English words but this character was very different and couldn't do that.
