How will Sara use this ancient power, or will she be consumed by it?”
The series is penned by Nyt Best-Selling writer Marguerite Bennett and visualized by artist Giuseppe Cafaro. The creative duo is working with original co-creator Marc Silvestri, who is the CEO of Top Cow Productions Inc.

This X-Men ’97 article contains spoilers.
It takes five minutes for “Motendo” segment of the latest episode of X-Men ’97 to reveal its big bad. A stomach-churning yellow creature covered in metal appears on screen and yells, “I am Mojo, your primetime psycho inter dimensional TV producer who feeds off ratings!”
That’s actually a pretty good description for Mojo, one of the strangest Marvel villains of all time. The “Motendo” segment finds Mojo kidnapping Jubilee and Roberto Da Costa (not yet taking his Sunspot moniker) and sending them into a video game. There, they battle various computerized baddies and garner praise from an audience, which in turn makes Mojo more powerful.
Unsurprisingly, the segment includes plenty of nods to the history of X-Men video games. And if you’re the type of person who got upset that the episode used a Snes portmanteau to describe a system that looked...

Little good came out of "X-Men: Apocalypse." The preceding film "Days of Future Past" was meant to be a fresh start for the Merry Mutants. Instead, director Bryan Singer was exposed as creatively bankrupt; "Apocalypse" rehashes beats from Singer's previous movies like a "greatest hits" compilation. Singer always had little interest in the source material comics and "Apocalypse" showed he was out of his depth trying to make an "X-Men" movie that felt more like them.
This feeling of running on fumes, juxtaposed with a comical misuse of Oscar Isaac's talents, meant "Apocalypse" was the beginning of the end for 20th Century Fox's "X-Men" movies, not a new dawn. It's certainly when their spell over me ended.
The post-credits scene of "X-Men: Apocalypse" in particular is pointless. Its very inclusion was Fox taking a page from rival Marvel Studios, but the sequel set-up doesn't pay off.

This past week we lost one of the industry’s best. As Dan Green pulls his chair up to the great drawing board in the sky I look back on an amazing career. For me, Dan Green was probably the first inker I knew the name of. This comes from hunting down my back issues of Wolverine. Marc Silvestri and Adam Kubert were two of my favourites to track down issues of and Green was always the third name in the credits. Perhaps this is doing inkers a discredit. They are like drummers in rock bands in that regard. Essential to creativity but one step behind the limelight. If someone like Joe Sinnott was like the old-school drumming of Ringo Starr, then Green is more akin to the style of John Bonham. In my opinion, he was the first rock star inker.
The journey began for Dan Green in Detroit.

Are we going to have to start calling this series Beast Goes Full Evil? At this point I think Benjamin Percy is the only writer I would trust to have a comic called Wolverine completely dominated by Beast and his continuing journey to the dark side. It has been going on for three issues now and it works. Beast is the center of attention in this book right now and Percy is killing it! Not to completely scare fans off, Wolverine does make a fleeting appearance in this issue in true Wolverine fashion. Barging in on the Quiet Council and telling them exactly what is what and how he is going to put things right. Though out reading this issue I did keep asking myself how and if this ties into ‘Fall of X’ or...

Wow. Wow. Wow. There is so much going on in this issue, it is a case of throwing everything at the wall and seeing what sticks! This is a melting pot of story. It throws together elements from the recent X Lives/Deaths of Wolverine event as well as elements from Swords of X, X-Force and of course the current event Axe. Despite all the moving parts going on the story moves at a great pace, jumping from scene to scene. What stands out the most to me is how Percy takes the situation of having to tie into an event and completely makes it his own monster. It feels like this arc would hold up without the Axe connection. It is a perfect example of how to tie into an event and keep the identity of your on going series.

Welcome to the first Versus of 2022 and it is a big one to start! This year I wanted to go bigger than just pitting similar characters together. 2022 is also the 30th anniversary of the birth of Image Comic, so what better way to start than by having the Image 7 face off in the versus arena, with their biggest and best issues going toe-to-toe. The story of Image Comics is still fascinating to this day and it still represents the biggest seismic shift in the comic industries landscape. In a nutshell, the era is the early 90s, the seven biggest talents in the industry are all working for Marvel Comics and they have had enough of the way the industry works. They get a lot of flak for being the cause of the comic market crash. That is a sign of the impact they made. DC and Marvel were scrambling to...

I just had a big, stupid smile on my face as I read this from cover to cover! Outside of just being a fun read, this issue actaully moves the story in interesting ways from where we left off last month and it leaves you waiting for the next issue. In the previous issue I mentioned how Maverick was portrayed as a real badass. A character trait of his we haven’t seen too much of, especially in recent years. This issue sets it up as a plot point as to why he is this all new badass Maverick . Just as a little side note I continue to enjoy Wolverine’s commentary on how mutant affairs are shaping up on Krakoa. #9 only had 1 text piece which is an improvement on recent months. But I still didn’t bother to read it.

While The Walking Dead comic book series may have come to a surprise end last year with the 193rd issue, writer Robert Kirkman and artist Charlie Adlard are picking up the story of Negan for a good cause in a new one-shot.
Continuing the story of the polarizing former leader of the Saviors, Negan Lives #1 will be released exclusively in comic book stores on July 1st, with 100% of the book's revenue going to the shops that sell it.
This is Kirkman and Adlard's way of giving back to comic book stores in the days of the Covid-19 pandemic, and it will also be a special treat for readers to re-enter the world of The Walking Dead.
For additional details, we have the official cover art and press release:

From their humble Silver Age beginnings, to comic culture behemoth, to Marvel’s first successful movie franchise. The X-Men have certainly had a roller coaster ride in their fifty six years existence. Starting out with a roster of five led by Charles Xavier the ranks of the X-Men increased year on year. Most notbaly under the pen of Chris Claremont along side artists Dave Cockrum, John Byrne, Paul Smith, Marc Silvestri and Jim Lee the ranks swelled to hundreds. In this era the X-Men became their own universe within the main Marvel universe. With the levels of popularity increasing along with the success that came with it, spin offs, multi part stories and cross overs became the norm. The X-Men were not just the center of the Marvel Universe they were the center of the comics universe. It seems only a few years ago we couldn’t escape the rumours...

We all know the classics. Frank Miller’s Daredevil run, Chris Claremont’s epic run on Uncanny X-Men with John Byrne and Dave Cockrum among others. Bill Sienkiewicz taking over New Mutants and making the comics world sit up. What I am going to do this week is look at some legendary creators and their first Marvel works and a few key first issues. Also included are some first Marvel works by a few legends and a few creators best known for DC work. In a future installment I switch it up and do DC firsts. Being some what a writer myself I am going to start with Chris Claremont because from there I can go on a tangent to the Image guys who all had their early success on X titles before going on to launch Image Comics. Claremont was a gofer in the Marvel bullpen for a good...

It's something we knew would happen one day. Even in the early years of this website, it's something that Robert Kirkman told Daily Dead would happen. It's something he was planning to do for a long time. But that doesn't make it any less shocking now that it's happened.
Rick Grimes has been killed in The Walking Dead comic book series.

The Umbrella Academy reads like a catharsis. Almost 12 years ago, Gerard Way released the Dark Horse comic at the peak of My Chemical Romance’s powers. Through six issues, Way channeled the growing dysfunction and discord of his real-life band into the fictional story of seven adopted children with superpowers struggling under the weight of an oppressive upbringing by their newly deceased father. It was classic X-Men archetypes, doused in kerosene and viewed through a psychedelic prism.

The 90′s are synonymous with two things in comics history. The birth of the superstar artist and the crash of the comic market. Are the two related? The polite answer is possibly. But there were many factors that contributed to the crash. Between 1993 and 1997 the comics industry hit an all time low, a low it only recovered from towards the end of the 00′s. Because of the crash a lot of comic book fans look on the 90′s with disdain. But for every fan that hates it there are two who look back at that time with such fondness.
When you think of Image Comics now you think of a publisher closest to breaking the big twos dominance. You think of consistently well told series like The Walking Dead, Southern Bastards and Saga. Robert Kirkman’s Skybound Entertainment has optioned Zack Kaplan’s new Top Cow comic Eclipse for series development.
Eclipse, from creator Kaplan with art by Giovanni Tampano, is set to be available in stores Wednesday. After a solar flare drives the human population underground, daytime surface conditions are monitored by workers like David Baxter, equipped with special suits that protect them from the sun’s deadly radiation. Baxter’s solitary patrol of the empty cityscape is interrupted when he finds the scorched remains of someone left outside to burn – now, he must solve the murder himself.
Top Cow principals Marc Silvestri and Matt Hawkins will executive produce alongside Skybound Entertainment. Kaplan will be a co-executive producer on the project.
“Eclipse is a story that mixes post-apocalyptic and dystopian into a thrilling big world action drama, and explores the human condition while asking the question what if our life-giving sun turned on us.
