Well, as you know by now, Kitchen Nightmares is finally airing the return to Amy’s Baking Company episode tomorrow night as part of a two-hour return of the show. I’ve already gone over the episode in as much detail as I dare give away, but Arthur Smith, the executive producer on the show, has a bit to say about the episode.
There aren’t many episodes of television that have ever had this kind of response, and we might as well hear from everyone possible, and the conversation gives you some hints of what to expect. He also goes over other points of the upcoming season, and, I think, gives an interesting perspective on the behind-the-scenes world.
I’ve said this before, and I think it is worth repeating, for all the drama and general wackiness of reality television, which I am largely prone to make fun of,...

The Critics' Circle Theatre Awards just took place at the Prince of Wales Theatre, celebrating the 25th anniversary of these unique awards. Those wanting a glimpse into Hollywood's future should pay attention to what British theatre critics are saying today. Ejiofor, Dench, Weisz, Redmayne – the list of graduates goes on
It's that time of year again: the awards season. And while I doubt that the Oscars committee is losing any sleep over the fact that tomorrow is the 25th edition of the UK Critics' Circle theatre awards, there's more connection between the two events than you might think. Chiwetel Ejiofor is a hot contender for best actor at the Oscars; in 2000 he picked up the critics' best newcomer gong for Blue/Orange and in 2007 shared the top Shakespeare award for his Othello. Judi Dench is also among this year's Oscar nominees for best actress – a prize she collected from the Brit crits in 1997 for Amy's View. What we aisle-squatters think today, Hollywood thinks tomorow.
At the risk of sounding self-congratulatory, I'd say...

"American Ninja Warrior" returned and brought with it the crazy costumes fans have come to expect. But one of the people wearing those costumes did something completely unexpected. Usually, the people who dress up to look ridiculous don't do very well on the show. Not so for Jessie Graff, who was dressed in a chicken costume.
The trapeze artist and stunt woman became the first woman to make it past the qualifying round. "She may look like Big Bird, but she is flying through this course," said the announcer. "This is truly impressive, we are seeing one of the strongest female competitors we’ve ever had.”
Her success puts her on course to make a new kind of history. Like the original "Ninja Warrior," this show doesn't always find a winner. The grueling course is often too difficult for anyone to achieve total victory. And, in fact, "American Ninja Warrior" has never crowned a winner,...

The show will air weekly on Esquire and then NBC on consecutive days, with original episodes on each network. Former NFL player and sports analyst Akbar Gbaja Biamila (NFL Network) will join the show as host alongside Matt Iseman, who is returning to the show for its fifth season on Esquire and its second full season on NBC. Remember that reality show "The Swan"? Well if you don't, you're about to.
Fox has ordered a celebrity version of the 2004 controversial makeover reality series, Deadline.com is reporting. The network has greenlighted "Celebrity Swan," a two-hour special of the plastic surgery show that will air later this year.
The original show featured two "ugly ducklings" each episode and followed them as they experienced a physical and psychological transformation over a three-month period with the help of a coach, therapist, trainer, dentist and cosmetic surgeons. The woman who looked prettier at the end of the process would compete in a beauty pageant at the culmination of the season. Hence, controversial.
According to Deadline, the creators behind the original extreme makeover show -- Nely Galán, her company Galan Entertainment, FremantleMedia and producer Arthur Smith -- will be back for the special, which will feature female celebrities looking to reinvent themselves for a comeback.

I hear FremantleMedia and producer Arthur Smith, who were behind the original plastic surgery series, will be back for the special, which will feature female celebrities looking to reinvent themselves for a comeback. They will undergo a physical, psychological and career “extreme makeover” with the help of a coach, therapist, trainer, cosmetic surgeons and a dentist as cameras follow them through the transformative process. Casting is currently underway through The Conlin Co. and no celebrities have been set, though I’ve heard the names of former White House intern Monica Lewinsky and Happy Days alumna Erin Moran as possibilities. Production is slated to begin this spring. The Swan was created by Nely Galán, and her company Galan Entertainment will be producer on the celebrity special.

This time she has her whole family in tow and she’s letting her true personality show through. At a recent press event Paris, her mother Kathy and series’ executive producer Arthur Smith talked about the new show.
Paris explained why she was ready to come back to television, “I had so much fun doing The Simple Life a few years ago. It was such a huge success, and I love my fans, and I love showing them my life. And I feel like before I would never have done a show like this five, ten years ago. I wasn't really comfortable with myself.

Several new shows that are debuting in the coming months on the various networks of NBCUniversal were recently unveiled during a massive press event in Pasadena, CA on Friday. Cast and crew members graciously spoke about their projects. Here’s what we can reveal to you:
“The Paul Reiser Show”
Word of this “Curb Your Enthusiasm” clone debuting to the lowest numbers ever for an NBC sitcom hadn’t yet reached the hall where the press event was being held so Paul Reiser and executive producer Jonathan Shapiro were all smiles when giving us all an insight on how this series came to be: they have a diverse group of friends — since they live in Los Angeles — who all met through each others’ wives and at various school functions, and they thought that it would make for a great show. Reiser also revealed that his former “Mad About You” co-stat,...

Let's face it: Paris Hilton is no stranger to prying cameras. As one of the creators, producers and the star of Oxygen's "The World According to Paris" premiering in June, she has a vested interest in making it a hit and convincing us that it's something we haven't seen from her before.
'This show is the most authentic I've ever been," she says Friday (April 15) at NBCU's Summer Press Day. "On 'The Simple Life,' I was being a character and I was, you know, a fish out of water, living in places, so it wasn't my world."
"Now, people will get to see my real world," she adds. "My friends, my relationships, my business, and everything that goes on."
Of course, when someone who has been on multiple reality shows says that they're being real now, they fall into the category of crying wolf one too many times...

Fox will serve up two more seasons of the highest-rated culinary competition on TV: Hell’s Kitchen.
Gordon Ramsay will continue shouting at those darned cooks for two more cycles, with production on seasons 9 and 10 starting back-to-back production in April, with an eye toward bringing back the show in late summer.
Though Hell’s doesn’t get the same press love as Fox’s American Idol, ABC’s Dancing With the Stars, or CBS’ Survivor, it similarly launched during the summer, made a successful transition into the more competitive broadcast season and (initially, at least) grew its ratings year after...

Fox has ordered a reality pilot about conquering one's fears.
In "Panic Attack," contestants face their greatest fears -- heights, snakes, tight spaces -- with the help of a pair of therapists.
The project is from frequent Fox collaborator A. Smith & Co., which also produces "Hell's Kitchen" and "Kitchen Nightmares."
"Panic" will be hosted by Nik and Eva Speakman, married psychotherapists and motivational speakers who host the U.K. series "A Life Coach Less Ordinary." Each week, five people who suffer from the same phobia will be brought together to work through conquering their fears.
The series is produced by Arthur Smith and Kent Weed.
"Panic" is the latest in a series of reality projects in the works that mark a return to the intense, adrenalin-based ideas in vogue during the genre's formative years. Michael Bay is shopping an action-based series with Magical Elves, and Ron Howard and Brian Grazer are crafting "The Great Escape,...

When the Oxygen network greenlighted the reality series "Addicted to Beauty," the idea was to chronicle the day-to-day workings of a trendy California medical spa via the lives of its married co-owners, a socialite and a doctor.
That was the plan, anyway.
"Before we even got into production, they got divorced," Oxygen Gm Jason Klarman says. So when "Beauty" premieres next month, it will focus on socialite Dianne York-Goldman's attempt to start a med-spa at a different location, as well as her re-entry into single life.
"You've got to roll with the punches when you're doing these shows," Klarman says. "These aren't characters; these are real people, and you always run the risk of them having lives."
Indeed, as Tlc has learned with its breakout hit "Jon & Kate Plus 8," the unanticipated real-life travails of reality personalities can prove both a boon and a bust to the network following their every move.

ABC has given the green light to the auto-competition show "Crash Course" for a late summer run.
The network plans to air seven one-hour episodes from executive producers Arthur Smith and Kent Weed. Orlando Jones ("MadTV") and Dan Cortese ("Veronica's Closet") will serve as commentators.
"It's going to be visually stunning and hysterical," Smith said. "Nothing brings out the worst in people than sitting in a passenger seat."
Each episode features five couples (such as brother and sister, best friends, spouses, etc.) undertaking four extreme driving challenges. The first three rounds have contestants performing such feats as driving on two wheels or navigating intense weather conditions. Contestants have to work together when, for instance, the passenger is given sole control of the brake.
One couple is eliminated during each round. The final round is the Crash Course, a large obstacle track.

ABC is getting into the auto-reality race.
The network is joining forces with the producers of "Hell's Kitchen" for a project in which contestants navigate an outrageous obstacle course. The project, titled "Crash Course," will shoot a pilot this weekend and is seen as a potential companion for the network's summer hit "Wipeout."
If the "Crash" description sounds familiar, that's because CBS is developing a similar project, McG's "Thunder Road." The ABC version will have couples compete for a prize and will take a comedic tone. Orlando Jones ("MadTV") and Dan Cortese ("Veronica's Closet") are attached as hosts.
"We do things with cars that you would never imagine," exec producer Arthur Smith said. "Yet our show is about the people, not the cars, and nothing brings out the worst in people than putting somebody in a passenger seat."
Added fellow executive producer Kent Weed, "Any hazard you can imagine on the road -- weather-related,...
