After the huge success of Fool Me Once, Netflix have commissioned two more Harlan Coben adaptations, here are the details.
The Harlan Coben thriller is quickly becoming its own subgenre. So far, ten of his high-octane, twisty novels have made their way to the screen. Amongst the highlights, Tell No One was adapted into a terrific French film of the same name in 2006, directed by Guillaume Canet and starring Francois Cluzet and Kristen Scott Thomas.
On television, The Five, Safe, Innocent, Just One Look, No Second Chance, The Stranger, The Woods, Gone For Good, Stay Close, Hold Me Tight and – most recently – Fool Me Once have all been adapted variously for Channel 5 and Netflix.
It’s thanks to the huge success of Fool Me Once, which landed on Netflix over Christmas and stars Michelle Keegan, that the streaming service are pressing ahead with two more Coben adaptations, Deadline has revealed.

My condolences to anyone who dared to bet against James Cameron, because things clearly aren't going their way. Allow me to be the millionth person to state the obvious: with "Avatar: The Way of Water," the blockbuster filmmaker has yet another hit on his hands. Five weeks into its theatrical run, the film has officially surpassed "Spider-Man: No Way Home" as the sixth-highest-grossing film of all time, with a gross of 1.928 billion globally (via Variety). To think — just a few weeks ago, experts were debating whether or not this film would manage to break even and actually garner a profit.
It was a fair question of course: with a rumored budget of 460 million, "The Way of Water" was a very special case. If you account for the costs of marketing and distribution, the film still wasn't profitable after crossing the 1 billion mark. But that number has now been left in the dust,...

Director James Cameron has pushed for moviegoers to watch “Avatar: The Way of Water” on the big screen and in 3D — as he did with its 2009 predecessor. That is the format for which it was intended. The box office numbers shows that the majority of those who have bought a ticket have listened.
According to data from Comscore and 3D format company RealD, 61 of all tickets sold worldwide for “Avatar 2” so far have been for 3D screenings, amounting to 1.16 billion in global revenue.
3D’s share of the overall box office for “Avatar 2” has remained consistent since its opening weekend, when two-thirds of the film’s 434 million global launch came from the format. In the United States and Canada, 3D has a 58 share of the film’s 576 million total through Martin Luther King weekend, while internationally outside of China, 3D has a 54 share of the 1.13 billion total.

The success of the re-release of “Avatar” these past two weekends isn’t necessarily a guarantee that its upcoming sequel, “The Way of Water” will be a global hit this Christmas. But the younger-skewing demographics and the overwhelming majority of 3D moviegoers for the re-release are certainly a reason for Disney, 20th Century Studios and movie theaters worldwide to have hope.
As of Monday, 10 days into its two-week limited engagement in theaters, “Avatar” has grossed 58.1 million worldwide, with a domestic total of 18.6 million from 1,860 theaters. That is enough to bring the lifetime gross of “Avatar” to 2.9 billion, the highest of all time before inflation adjustment.
Let’s get the caveats out of the way first: “Avatar” is hitting theaters at a particularly depleted time for the box office, coming out of the worst September in over two decades. Also, this total is dwarfed by the 191.7 million that another James Cameron classic,...

Sean Spencer’s debut, about a journalist who sees something he shouldn’t in the tower block opposite, piles on sodium-flooded dread with a script that kicks
It’s great to see a role for a black Londoner that doesn’t involve repping any endz, and David Gyasi (Cloud Atlas, Interstellar) capably anchors this piece of East End noir, playing a traumatised music journalist who gets a Rear Window-style peek of a kidnapping in the tower block across the way. A little under-plotted in its dip into the immigrant-labour demimonde explored most comprehensively by Stephen Frears’s Dirty Pretty Things in 2002, Sean Spencer’s debut feature is still carried off with sharp-eyed poise. Carl Burke’s cinematography thrives in this sodium-flooded twilight world; Spencer not only shows an aptitude for staging violence with everyday household items, but more importantly writes coiled, guarded dialogue that mordantly funnels his characters down dead ends of the soul.

★★★☆☆ In a city of millions, it isn't right but it's easy to turn a blind eye to the suffering of others. Lost in an ocean of lives lived from 9 to 5, spent peering into mobile phone screens, behind closed doors or simply through a blinkered field of vision, a lot goes unseen, unnoticed and unresolved. It's in this world - and more specifically a Tottenham housing estate - that writer-director Sean Spencer sets Panic, his impressive debut feature. A very human crime drama that tackles the brutality of people smuggling and champions the plight of those powerless to escape its grip, Spencer's film further resonates within the claustrophobic psychological confines of its protagonist's mind and body.

Hallelujah, Arrow got it's groove back. I was worried we were doomed to endure filler episodes until Sweeps. And I can't say I particularly cared about seeing Oliver go all Hood on the drug dealer who made the pills his sister took. Yet, in spite of my reservations, this episode rocked.
Let me get the bad out of the way. It's nothing the writers did wrong this time. It's just one bit of hypocrisy that I took issue with. Oliver's whole mission is to punish the criminals who use their power and influence to escape the law. Yet he spends this entire episode using every bit of influence he has to keep Thea out of jail.
Yes, it's his sister and so yes, it makes sense that he wouldn't even see the double-standard he's so shamelessly exhibiting. I kind of wish Digg would have pointed it out, but alas, it didn't happen.
