Bill Stephens(I)

Bill Stephens runs his own international film sales and marketing
consultancy, NEXUS, with a menu of services he offers to the film
community. This includes the role of Executive Producer and raising
completion finance for selected productions; strategizing the launch of
a film internationally and acting as broker to find an appropriate
sales agency or distributor. Occasionally he licenses product directly
himself, either through his own offices or on behalf of a company
needing an in-house 'gun for hire'. Bill has worked closely with
producers, writers, directors, financiers, film funding agencies, law
firms and a variety of sales and marketing companies.
Between 1984 and 1998 he was with Film Four International as Director of International Sales and Marketing.
In that time he was involved with and sold some enviable product including Mike Leigh's Life Is Sweet and High Hopes, Danny Boyle's Shallow Grave and Trainspotting, Ken Loach's Raining Stones and Riff Raff, Bille August's Best Intentions, Stephen Frears' My Beautiful Laundrette, Shekar Kapur's Bandit Queen and David Leland's Wish You Were Here. Under his directorship of the sales division at Film Four the company won every major award at The Cannes Film Festival between 1987 and 1998.
