- In 1901 Stevenson claimed to have divorced Kate Claxton by publication, but she later sued him for divorce and won when Stevenson's second wife was already pregnant. Claxton was well known for her portrayal of Louise in "Two Orphans" on the stage and later sold film rights to D.W. Griffith which he produced as Orphans of the Storm (1921).
