Legends of the Hidden Temple will not be back for a second season. The CW has canceled its reboot of the classic Nickelodeon adventure format after one season, Deadline has confirmed.
The cancellation is not surprising — Legends of the Hidden Temple only averaged 222K Live+Same Day viewers through its run and only grew to 298K in Live+7. It was the CW’s lowest rated scripted series this past season.
The reimagining of the popular ’90s show hailed from Stone & Company, which produced the original series that ran on Nickelodeon for three seasons between 1993-1995. Hosted by Cristela Alonzo, the adult version preserved many of the original show elements including Moat Crossings, The Steps of Knowledge and the Temple Run as well as the team names such as Purple Parrots, Blue Barracudas, Orange Iguanas, Red Jaguars, Silver Snakes and Green Monkeys. “Legends of the Hidden Temple” is headed back to the small screen, but not in its original kid-friendly format. The Nickelodeon competition adventure series from the 1990s is all grown up in the revival ordered Tuesday by the CW.
The original Nickelodeon series that aired from 1993-1995 was inspired by Nintendo’s “The Legend of Zelda” game and the “Indiana Jones” movie franchise. The new iteration is described as a supersized and reimagined adult version, so participants are no longer kids, but nostalgia-loving millennials.

The ’90s continue to take over pop culture as Quibi revealed today that they are reimagining Nickelodeon’s iconic game show Legends of the Hidden Temple.
From the Shrine of the Silver Monkey to scary Temple Guards, Quibi has set a revival of the kids game show from the ’90s that included teams competing against one another to retrieve “historical artifacts” in a Mayan-themed temple by performing physical challenges and asking trivia questions.
The new iteration will be bigger and better as they take some of the original elements of the show and set them in a scaled-up jungle setting with tougher challenges. This includes the Moat Crossing, the iconic Temple Run and, of course, the talking Olmec statue.

“Legends of the Hidden Temple,” Nickelodeon’s classic adventure game show from the ’90s, is being revived at Quibi, Jeffrey Katzenberg’s upcoming mobile-only streaming service, the company shared on Monday morning.
The show, which was aimed at kid’s during its glory days, is now being revamped to appeal to adults. “Hidden Temple” will still preserve several of its trademark features from the original show, however, including the Moat Crossing, Olmec and the Temple Run.
Instead of being filmed at Nickelodeon Studios in Orlando, Florida, Quibi is bringing the show to an undisclosed jungle location. The challenges and the prizes are both bigger this time around as well, according to Quibi.

It’s not just theatrical movies (like Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Star Trek Beyond, or Jumanji) that are currently trading on nostalgia. Small screen projects are also following suit. Nickelodeon is planning perhaps the most significant of these, with a TV movie based on the popular 1990s game show, Legends Of The Hidden Temple – which now has a premiere date.
Originally created by David G. Stanley, Scott A. Stone and Stephen Brown in 1993, Legends Of The Hidden Temple ran for 120 episodes – each featuring six teams of two 11-14 year olds. The teams competed to find and collect artefacts in a temple filled with treasures, guarded by Mayan protectors. To succeed, the competitors would have to answer questions and undertake physical tasks. The show was hosted by Kirk Fogg, and featured narration from Dee Bradley Baker in the guise of a talking stone head named Olmec.

Reality production house Stone & Co. has acquired the domestic rights to a hit Israeli reality series that brings user-generated content to a new level.
Producer Scott Stone ("The Mole," "Tim Gunn's Guide to Style") is pitching to networks "Connected," a series in which five women are given cameras to document their relationships with their significant others. The result has been first-person docu-soaps that have made "Connected" the top-rated Israeli cable reality series of all time.
Giving amateurs cameras has been attempted many times (such as Britney Spears' short-lived "Chaotic," which included close-ups of the singer's knees). But Stone said that "Connected" solves the format's inherent problem by selecting participants who already have storytelling experience and combining that with soap opera storylines.
"It's breakthrough television," Stone said. "It's a way of doing user-generated video in a TV show that's never been done before; you get things that you never thought you'd see.

Los Angeles, California (X17online) - Levi Johnston is pitching a new reality show, but top network reality executives aren't showing interest. Johnston announced earlier this week that he was shooting a pilot that documents his race to become mayor of Wasilla, Alaska. An TV executive had this to say about Levi's reality show concept: "I'm just incredibly uninterested. We've seen him naked. We've heard him bash the Palins. What more is there that we need to know? He's a cute kid but not the most interesting person to watch." Scott Stone, the producer behind Loving Levi: The Road to the Mayor's Office says that he has received numerous calls from networks who have shown interest. In response to the executive's comment, Stone says, "People will say what they will about Levi. He's very comfortable in his own skin. His statement that's he's 'half-redneck and half-Hollywood' is really who he is.

Who doesn’t love Levi Johnston? Everyone, you say? Well, at least there’s no such thing as bad publicity in the world of reality TV, since the baby daddy to the daughter of the former governor of Alaska — now that’s a tenuous claim to fame — is looking to star in his own show, Loving Levi: The Road to the Mayor’s Office. And while the current mayor of the Wasilla, Ak, isn’t especially keen on the 20-year-old’s political aspirations, that won’t stop Johnston or the producers at Stone & Company Entertainment from making a run for it.

Top network reality executives haven't seen Levi Johnston's proposed reality pilot about running for mayor of Wasilla, Alaska. But some already are wary of the concept.

The producer of Johnston's project -- tentatively titled "Loving Levi: The Road to the Mayor's Office" -- disagrees. Scott Stone said he's received calls from several networks that want to hear more about the concept since news of the idea broke Monday.

Levi Johnston, the guy who made headlines for having a baby with Sarah Palin's daughter Bristol Palin while they were teens, is gearing up a reality show that would bring into light his passion in politics. "Loving Levi: The Road to the Mayor's Office" is a look into Johnston's struggle to achieve a position as the mayor of Wasilla, Alaska.
Speaking of the deal he struck with producers Scott Stone and David Weintraub of Stone and Co., Johnston said, "The more I think about it and look into it, I think there's a possibility we can make it happen." He admitted to not leaning fully to the idea at the first place but later felt "it's something that I want to do."
On why he chose to have it all on camera, Johnston reasoned, "It's hard to figure me out. You've got to follow me around. I'm very different.

Stone and Co.'s Scott Stone and David Weintraub are pitching a new reality show titled "Loving Levi: The Road to the Mayor's Office," according to Variety. The show will focus on Levi Johnston's notoriety and his use of that notoriety to run for mayor of Wasilla, Ak, which is coincidentally the same job where his baby grandma Sarah Palin got her start.
Johnston was hesitant at first about the concept, but says, "The most I think about it and look into it, I think there's a possibility we can make it happen. It's something that I want to do."
The mayoral chair isn't up for election until 2012, but Johnston's manager Tank Jones says he may try for city council in the meantime. Which is probably good -- let's not bite off more than we can chew, eh Levi?

The Palins might want to start thinking about moving. Levi Johnston has teamed with a production company to shop a reality series called Loving Levi: The Road to the Mayor's Office, which will—just as the title implies—chronicle his life as he runs for mayor of Wasilla, Alaska. Or since the mayor's job won't be up for grabs until 2012, as his new campaign manager points out, maybe he'll make a run for city council in the meantime. Best idea ever, right? "The more I think about it and look into it, I think there's a possibility we can make it happen," Johnston told Variety, admitting that he wasn't exactly keen on the idea when producers Scott Stone and...

Levi Johnston's proposed reality show will chronicle his attempts to follow in Sarah Palin's footsteps -- running for mayor in Wasilla, Alaska.
Johnston is partnering with reality production veterans Stone and Co., which confirmed it is shooting a pilot with Johnston and pitching the concept to networks.
Titled "Loving Levi: The Road to the Mayor's Office," the show will have a three-pronged focus: Johnston vying for office, being a father to Tripp (the child he has with Bristol Palin, with whom he recently split up) and attempting to pursue a career in Hollywood.
Johnston told Variety, which first reported the news, that the mayoral run wasn't originally his idea but was pitched to him by producers Scott Stone and David Weintraub.
Johnston and Bristol Palin have been looking into launching a reality show for months. With the couple split, refocusing Johnston on a narrative-friendly goal like running for mayor...

Just when you thought the boob-tube (pun intended) had finally moved beyond the Baywatch Era, the show seems to be creeping back onto the scene via a new reality project. What? That's right beachbums, four former Baywatch stars have decided to dip their toes back in the sand and give us something we've all been missing for far too long…okay, I lied about that last part. All their really giving us is more celeb-reality television, but if you like that sorta thing, you'll probably dig this!
The project is being called a "docu-comedy" and will center around former Baywatch stars Traci Bingham, Nicole Eggert, Donna D'Errico and Gena Lee Nolin. The tentative title of the show is Back to the Bay (see how they got around the copyright and ownership issues there?).
