Simon Howell takes a much needed week off, and Josh Spiegel joins me (Ricky D) and Edgar Chaput, to discuss Edgar Wright’s third instalment in his Cornetto trilogy, The World’s End. We also discuss everything that is wrong with Kick-Ass 2, and introduce our new segment titled Our Week In Review. Other films discussed are Rewind This!, a documentary about the rise and fall of VHS, as well as the Mark Wahlberg/Denzel Washington buddy cop thriller, 2 Guns. Enjoy!

Since 2002, when Dave Barry mentioned John Baur and Mark Summers in his weekly column, Talk Like a Pirate Day has been an internationally celebrated holiday on Sept. 19, growing bigger with each passing year.
Why Sept. 19? That's Summers' ex-wife's birthday, so ... naturally.
The official Talk Like a Pirate website now has a Google map showing all the Talk Like a Pirate parrrrrrties. You can have yours added too. And this year, Mark and John are announcing a new book - "Pirate Santa," for children.
Need help with your Pirate-speak? The site kindly provides a translator. So - hoist the mainstay, swab the bootdeck, drink lots o'grog, find t' hot beauties and celebrate!

Ahoy, mateys. If you haven't heard, today is International Talk Like a Pirate Day.
Aye, it's a real holiday – John Baur and Mark Summers began International Talk Like a Pirate Day (Itlapd) in 1996.
Needless to say, such an important holiday needs to be honored with more than just an eye patch and a few "argh"-punchlined puns. Thankfully, a vast array of pirate movies offers ample fodder to prepare you to impress your fellow scurvy-sufferers… and we've compiled their best hints.
Yo ho!

"Three shillings, forget the name."
"Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl" (2003)
Impress your mates right off the bat with this line. It's easily one of the most memorable scenes from any of the "Caribbean" films and Jack Sparrow's first line ever. He steals the guy's wallet after paying him off. We don't recommend you do that part.

Five has commissioned a new dining reality show. The Boss Is Coming To Dinner will see job-hunters cook for their potential bosses instead of having an interview, Pa reports. The bosses taking part in the show include casting and choreography agent Mark Summers, who works with 50 Cent and Madonna, and professional dog trainer Jill East. On Tuesday, Vanity Fair joined forces with Hofstra University for a panel discussion, “Creating Images of the American Presidency: From Campaigns to the White House,” at the Peter S. Kalikow Center for the Study of the American Presidency, in Hempstead, NY. Before a packed crowd, the participants discussed everything from Ronald Reagan’s masterful photo ops to Barack Obama’s 11th-hour health-care comeback. On hand were Vanity Fair contributing editor Todd Purdum and illustrator Mark Summers along with political strategist Edward J. Rollins and Hofstra professor Lisa Merrill. At the centerpiece of the lively discussion was Vanity Fair’s new book Presidential Profiles: Defining Portraits, Deeds, and Misdeeds of 43 Notable Americans—And What Each One Really Thought About His Predecessor (Abrams Books). To learn more about the 43 men who’ve held the highest U.S. office, pick up a copy or watch the full-length video of Tuesday’s discussion.

Today marked comedian Drew Carey's 500th episode as host of the popular CBS morning game show The Price is Right. While many may not fess up to watching this iconic program (I know you're out there), I'm not afraid to say that I enjoy the The Price is Right (it goes best with breakfast in bed). Besides being strangely addicting and unintentionally hilarious, it's a great example of the American dream: You, yes you, can be selected from the studio audience, correctly estimate the price range of some odd or obscure household item, apply those skills and/or luck...

It’s President’s Day, which gives us the perfect excuse to flog our latest book, Vanity Fair’s Presidential Portraits: Defining Portraits, Deeds, and Misdeeds of 43 Notable Americans—And What Each One Really Thought About His Predecessor, edited by Graydon Carter with a foreword by Todd S. Purdum. You’ll notice right away that the term “portraits” is a bit of a double entendre, as it refers both to the brief accounts of each chief executive and to Mark Summers’s elegant, evocative illustrations, captured here in this cool video produced by the book’s publisher, Abrams. Buy a copy of Vanity Fair’s Presidential Portraits: Defining Portraits, Deeds, and Misdeeds of 43 Notable Americans—And What Each One Really Thought About His Predecessor.
