Spoiler Alert: Do not read ahead if you have not watched Season 11, Episode 5 of “The Masked Singer,” “Group C Finals: Shower Anthems Night,” which aired April 3 on Fox.
After two weeks of being on “The Masked Singer” chopping block, Sisqó is finally gone-guh-gone-gone-gone.
I think I’ll sing it again: Sisqó’s been dumped like a truck, truck, truck. “The Masked Singer” has removed his butt, butt, butt. Let me see (who sang) that song!
That’s right, “Thong Song” superstar Sisqó on Wednesday became the latest celebrity to be unmasked on “The Masked Singer,” revealed to be the Lizard.
For Sisqó as the Lizard, several of the panelists had figured it out. Robin Thicke and Rita Ora knew it was Sisqó. Jenny McCarthy-Wahlberg picked Ray J. Ken Jeong said it was Michael Bivins.
Lizard was voted out after being one of the two lowest vote-getters in the two previous episodes.

“The Masked Singer” season 11 debuted another quartet of contestants on March 20. Of these new contenders for the Golden Mask, our favorite is the one disguised as Poodle Moth. She won over the crowd and the judges with her cover of the Billy Joel classic “Just the Way You Are.”
We’ve been rewatching that performance and her clues video. While we think that Poodle Moth is a professional singer we don’t agree with the judges that it is Wynonna Judd, Rita Wilson or Trisha Yearwood. Keep reading for all your “The Masked Singer” spoilers including the answer to the question, “Who is Poodle Moth”?
We are convinced that Poodle Moth is Chrissy Metz. Although best known for her starring role in the TV drama “This Is Us,” Metz is also a talented singer, focusing on inspirational music.

In the 2010s, “Rolling in the Deep” by Adele became one of the most ubiquitous and beloved songs ever. Aretha Franklin first heard it while watching television. Franklin revealed what she thought of the song and Adele as an artist.
Aretha Franklin heard some kids ‘screaming’ the melody of Adele’s ‘Rolling in the Deep’
During a 2014 interview with Rolling Stone, the Queen of Soul discussed hearing children sing “Rolling in the Deep.” “I saw one of Adele’s promo pieces, and kids were on a bus singing ‘We could’ve had it all,'” he said. “They were just screaming it. But I was listening to the melody, I said, ‘That’s a good melody, I like that melody.'”
Franklin compared Adele to one of the most acclaimed songwriters of the 1960s and 1970s. “She’s a very, very fine, solid writer,” Franklin said. “I like her writing a lot.

Week three of “Dancing with the Stars” brought “Motown Night,” in which the celebrities performed new dance styles — mostly foxtrots — to songs like “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough” by Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell, “You Can’t Hurry Love” by The Supremes and “I Want You Back” by The Jackson 5. So who busted a move, and whose moves were busted? Follow along below with our live blog for all the minute-by-minute developments and commentary as the night progresses.

It’s Motown Night on “Dancing with the Stars” this week and nothing says “Motown” more than… Michael Strahan. The “Good Morning America” co-anchor will guest-judge the remaining 12 couples’ routines to soul hits.
Prepare yourself for a whole lotta foxtrots. Half of the dances are foxtrots and the other six are two quicksteps, one cha-cha, one tango, one rumba and one jive. Jason Mraz and Daniella Karagach have the jive, marking the second consecutive week they are the only couple assigned a particular dance style (last week was rumba). Tptb are really testing out his extra vertebrae, huh?
After sitting out last week due to Covid-19, Artem Chigvintsev is back in the ballroom this week with Charity Lawson.

Alyson Hannigan is having a lot of fun on Dancing With the Stars!
The 49-year-old actress has made it past the first two weeks of the reality competition, dancing alongside her pro partner Sasha Farber.
In week one, Alyson and Sasha landed towards the bottom of the leaderboard with their salsa, but made a “night and day” comeback, as judge Derek Hough said, in week two with their tango!
We caught up with Alyson ahead of the upcoming “Motown Night,” where she’s doing the Foxtrot to “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough” by Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell. We got the scoop on how her family has been supporting her on the show, why she decided to join DWTS, overcoming the challenges of not being a dancer and more.

After 23 seasons in a red swivel chair, The Voice’s Blake Shelton took a load off Monday night to watch his last bunch of finale performances as a coach. He was sitting pretty, too, considering that the members his team, whittled down to just showman Noivas and country singer Grace West, were the likeliest to win the title. Did anyone from Team Kelly Clarkson, Chance the Rapper or Niall Horan deliver such a knockout that they might pull off an upset? Did Noivas and/or Grace stumble? Read on, and we’ll discuss.

Here’s to 50 years of Nick Drake’s Pink Moon, the masterpiece that’s always waiting to be discovered. Even back then, no one quite knew what to do with those introspective, nakedly elegiac songs — or the man who created them. “Nick Drake: Out of Obscurity,” read the headline in Salt Lake City’s Deseret News in 1972. “It is true that no one knows where Nick Drake lives …Drake is unreachable, does no tours … It is as though he interacts only with nature, yet is ever studying man’s existence.

The Group A finals of “The Masked Singer” concluded on Wednesday night with Bull beating out Skunk for a spot in the December 15 finale. The stinky critter belted out a spine-tingling rendition of “Never Loved A Man (The Way I Love You)” by the Queen of Soul, Aretha Franklin, before duetting with Grammy winner Michael Bolton on the Marvin Gaye & Tammi Terrell classic, “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough.” Despite bringing down the house, Skunk was forced to unmask in front of America and reveal herself as Grammy winner Faith Evans.
“The Skunk is a lot of work, however, it was so much fun,” Faith confessed during her unmasked interview with host Nick Cannon. “It feels like I never left. It feels like I came back with about 20 extra pounds on my back, but … My son Ryder, he’s 14, he’s on the autism spectrum so we’ve been homeschooling him for three years.

Spoiler Alert: Do not read ahead if you have not watched “The Masked Singer” Season 6, Episode 11, “Group A Finale,” which aired December 2 on Fox.
“The Masked Singer” has gotta have Faith. Singer Faith Evans was unmasked as the Skunk on the eleventh episode of Season 6, “Group A Finale.” She didn’t stink — actually, the show’s panelists argued that her performance might be one of the best in “Masked Singer” history. But nonetheless, with the Group A finals coming down to her and the Bull, the Skunk lost out.
Because it was just down to two finalists, after performing their initial songs, the contestants also sang a second number as a duet with a guest. Skunk was paired with Michael Bolton, while Bull sang with Jesse McCartney, who appeared as the Turtle in Season 3 (and ended in second place).

Writer-director Siân Heder makes it very clear she knew the double meaning of “Coda,” the title of her new Apple TV Plus film, an acronym for Child of Deaf Adults. It’s used to describe the movie’s star, Emilia Jones, who plays would-be singer Ruby, a character eking out a living with her father Frank (Troy Kotsur), mother Jackie (Marlee Matlin) and brother Leo (Daniel Durant) — all deaf actors — aboard a fishing boat in scenic Gloucester, Mass.
“When I learned about the use of the term within the deaf community, in the context of music, it resonated for a coming-of-age story,” explains Heder, whose previous film was the gritty 2016 Sundance hit, “Tallulah,” with Allison Janney and Elliot Page. “To me, ‘Coda’ also represents the end of childhood, saying goodbye to the identity which exists within your family, bringing that part of your life to a close.”

Exclusive: Warner Bros has landed What’s Going On, a biopic of iconic soul singer Marvin Gaye that Allen Hughes will direct, and produce with Dr. Dre, Jimmy Iovine and Andrew Lazar. The studio acquired a script by poet-playwright Marcus Gardley (he wrote the musical The Color Purple for WB) and the singer’s estate and Motown are part of the deal so there will be rights to use all of Gaye’s signature songs. This finally will bring to the screen the singer’s story, after many previous attempts by different filmmakers stalled or fell short of the rights needed.
“This is so personal for me,” Hughes told Deadline. “When I made my first film with my brother, we were fortunate to get “What’s Going On” into the trailer for Menace 2 Society, and it was a game changer in elevating the marketing of that film. Every film of...

Park City, Utah is home to some stunning $25 million mountain estates — but it’s a jaw-dropping price for an indie movie to come out of the ski town’s preeminent American film festival, Sundance.
But there was “Coda,” a touching drama that kicked off 2021’s virtual edition of the event, landing a record-smashing $25 million deal from Apple Studios, or the cost of one of those palatial getaways. The victory followed a bidding war that, according to nearly a dozen sources who spoke to Variety, revealed much about Hollywood’s priorities, cashflow and boundaries in this moment of streaming disruption and pandemic chaos. It also encapsulated the way that the old indie film business, one that relies on box office performance and television licensing, is being subsumed by the rise of streaming services that aren’t as dependent on those totems of success.

Any time you catch a DJ set from Will Holland, who spins and produces as Quantic, there’s sure to be at least one transfixing moment on the dancefloor.

Ain’t Too Proud – The Life and Times of The Temptations is further proof, as if we need it, that the term “jukebox musical” just isn’t fair – to jukeboxes. Feed a juke some cash and it delivers music, free of the blunt exposition that passes for librettos in so many of these stage biographies. Even with source material as glorious as “My Girl,” “Just My Imagination,” “Papa Was A Rolling Stone” and the song that gives this production its title, the result feels less celebratory than ruthlessly efficient, like the treadmill device that’s forever moving the ever-changing Temptations line-up on, off and around the Imperial Theatre’s stage.

While “Dancing with the Stars” will reach its season finale on Monday, “Dancing with the Stars: Juniors” is still in the thick of its season. Sunday’s episode is just Week 6 of a nine-week season, and since it’s also Thanksgiving next Thursday, you can bet your two left feet that “Juniors” is doing a “Giving Thanks” theme. Unclear if anyone will be dressed as a turkey, but we might get one or two dances that are complete turkeys.
The top six will dedicate their routines — either a jazz, salsa, samba or foxtrot — to those people who’ve had an impact on their lives. We’re guessing Mandla Morris‘ is going to be his dad Stevie Wonder since the singer is performing “Isn’t She Lovely” during his son’s dance.
One couple will be eliminated at the end of Sunday’s show.

Elvis Costello is feeling just fine, thank you very much. Reports of a “battle with cancer” were wildly exaggerated, he says — earlier this year, doctors found an isolated malignancy, and removed it without complications. He got the news three-quarters of the way into the recording of Look Now, his first album in five years, and, if anything, he just threw himself harder into the process. The album turned out to be his best-received work of this century, combining immaculate, expansively arranged pop compositions (Burt Bacharach and Carole King were collaborators...

Each year Variety’s New Leaders feature profiles the most prominent up-and-comers in the entertainment business. To determine this year’s worthies, Variety looked across disciplines, from television, digital, music and film, to law and finance, as well as content creators. They were proposed by their bosses and peers who have worked with them and seen their rise. All are age 40 or under, and Variety has measured them by the progress of their career trajectories: do they take calculated risks? How fast have they risen in their companies? Are they innovative and employ solutions to problems that are creative? As part of the salute to the qualities that keep the town humming, filmmaker/producer Travis Knight, who founded Laika Studios and is finishing up the anticipated “Bumblebee” for Paramount, as well as Variety‘s 10 Assistants to Watch along with the New Leaders will be recognized Oct. 17, at the Jeremy Hotel rooftop in West Hollywood.

The mountain Marvin Gaye, Tammi Terrell, and later Diana Ross, sang about in "Ain't No Mountain High Enough" was Not inspired by a mountain at all ... according to the legend who wrote it. Valerie Simpson co-penned the 1967 hit song for Motown offshoot Tamla Records. Marvin and Tammi went Top 20 with it, and Diana Ross made it to #1 in 1970. So, when we got Valerie in NYC ... we had to know what she had in mind when...

The Roots ventured beyond their Tonight Show digs to perform "It Ain't Fair" with Bilal on Late Night With Seth Meyers Wednesday. The song appears on the soundtrack to Detroit, Kathryn Bigelow's movie about the city's 1967 riots.
"It Ain't Fair" swings between aching soul and raging fury, with Bilal and Roots Mc Black Thought trading verses until the song's explosive conclusion. Bilal belted potent dirges about persistent inequality over an understated groove, while Black Thought followed with a torrent of righteous, blazing bars over a Motown-esque rave up. Ask any New Yorker and they’ll tell you there’s rarely a good surprise on the subway. However, Miley Cyrus and Jimmy Fallon recently treated commuters to a special performance as they waited for their trains.
When Cyrus took over The Tonight Show Starring on Wednesday, she and Fallon tried to earn some extra money by busking in the subway station under Rockefeller Center. The duo initially tried to go undercover in country personas, with Cyrus donning a long black wig, a cowboy hat and sunglasses while the late show host used facial hair and a wig to hide his identity.

Miley Cyrus took over The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Wednesday, where she joined the host for a few different musical segments, including an undercover performance in a New York City subway station that kicked off the show.
Cyrus donned a long black wig, a cowboy hat and some dark shades while Fallon rocked a denim jacket, a shaggy brown wig and his newly-grown goatee as the pair took to the subway to perform as singing street buskers for unsuspecting passers-by.
Backed up by a guitarist and a bucket drummer, Fallon played the tambourine while Cyrus belted out a flawless, soulful cover of Dolly Parton's "Jolene," and it wasn't long before travelers walking past took notice.

As cool as director James Gunn's Guardians Of The Galaxy is, that movie wouldn't kick nearly as much ass without the stellar soundtrack that accompanies it. I recall, 2+ years ago, when it was rumored that Taraji P. Henson had been cast as Tammi Terrell in Universal’s James Brown biopic, "Get On Up," which starred Chadwick Boseman. Needless to say, that didn't happen. It may have simply been wishful thinking by whomever started the rumor, especially given that there is indeed a slight resemblance between Taraji and Terrell (photo above). Skip ahead to earlier this year, when it was announced that "Vampire Diaries" star Kat Graham had been cast to play Terrell in an upcoming biopic of the late singer, from writer/producer/director/actress Maryam Myika Day, and produced...

Cue the Remember the Titans feels! Georgia's Kennesaw State football team took over their weight room with a little impromptu performance of Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell's "Ain't No Mountain High Enough." The Owls performance was quite similar to the Remember the Titans iconic scene, but with their own personal twist. The video captures the players finishing up their workout. Setting down their weights as the song comes on, you can hear one player yell "Oh!" and "Come on!" as the young men head towards the center of the weight room, while singing along. A circle begins to form, as the players fist-pump and belt their hearts out to the music. News: Find out 5 things you...

Nb: The following contains spoilers for Guardians Of The Galaxy's ending.
Something of a departure for Marvel, Guardians Of The Galaxy rode to box office victory on a wave of catchy music, comedy and sheer swagger. That swagger was thanks in no small part to James Gunn, who brought his boyish style of filmmaking to Marvel's space opera comic.
