New Jersey native Brian Thomas attended William Paterson University and
in 1994 joined the Maine Film Workshops as a Post-Production course
assistant. It was there he configured and managed the Workshops Video
Toaster systems, gaining a strong interest in LightWave3D and creating
the Maine Film Workshops first studio logo using LightWave3D. At the
Maine Workshops his responsibilities also included editing weekly
student projects on AVID non-linear editing systems.
In 1995 Brian moved to Topeka, KS and joined NewTek, taking on the responsibility of LightWave3D Beta Testing Manager.
After guiding LightWave3D versions 4.0 and 5.0 to shipment, he moved to Southern California to cut his teeth as a 3D VFX animator and Systems Administrator for videogames and various movies including the video game Star Trek:Starfleet Academy; the ABC special, Santa vs. the Snowman 3D (2002) and Fox's animated Saturday show, Silver Surfer (1998). In 1998, he traveled to Beijing to teach 3D animation and 3D pipeline network administration to students at a local art college.
In 1999 Brian joined Steve Oedekerk's O Entertainment as Director of Technology, and under a pre-production schedule of less than 3 weeks, he ordered, built and administered the 3D and non-linear pipeline systems for the half-hour UPN special "Thumb Wars". It was at O Entertainment he also managed systems for _Thumbtanic (1998)_and Kung Pow: Enter the Fist (2002). In March 2000 he joined George Lucas's Industrial Light and Magic as Manager of Desktop Systems Support: working on such films as A.I., The Perfect Storm, Jurassic Park 3, Harry Potter and Star Wars EP2: Attack of the Clones.
