Jessica Paré is known for proudly embracing the iconic gap in her teeth, which has made her smile famous.
When she first auditioned for Mad Men, it was to play the prostitute who slaps Don in the face during sex in season four. While Paré did not get the role, Mad Men creator Matt Weiner called her back for another role thanks to her tooth gap.

In 2012, she discussed her teeth and her Mad Men audition in an interview with New York Magazine.
Weiner found himself drawn to Paré’s gap-toothed smile. Her teeth are so distinctive he even wrote a scene in which Megan recalls being told she could never be an actress because of them. Paré doesn’t understand all the fuss.

In an interview with TV Insider, Kaley Cuoco revealed that she didn’t initially get the role of Katie in “The Big Bang Theory” because she was considered too young. When the role was revisited a year later, she was called back to read for Penny.

Then, a year later, I heard they were doing it again, and they brought me back in to read for Penny,” Kaley said in an interview with TV Insider.

Family Guy is not a show that ever shies away from its pop culture references. More times than not they take shots at every show, movie, celebrity and piece of world news that they can. Ten years ago, Sterling K. Brown and Brian Tyree Henry met while working on the Tarell Alvin McCraney play “Wig Out” at the Sundance Theater Lab.
Both actors were playing drag queens, and one day, Henry – who was sporting a thick beard at the time – asked Brown to help shave his face.
“He did it,” Henry recalled. “He went and got clippers, and we’ve been best friends ever since. Once you shave a guy’s face, man, you’re best friends after that.”
Cut to 2016, and after years paying dues on stage and in small roles, Brown and Henry both coincidentally had the breakthrough year of their careers.
Brown, of course, won an Emmy portraying Christopher Darden on FX’s “The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story,” and now stars in the fall’s new hit NBC series “This Is Us.” (He also just landed a role in “Marvel’s Black Panther.

Last Friday night, Daily Dead had the distinct pleasure of attending the 40th anniversary screening of Brian De Palma’s Carrie, presented by Scream Factory, weSPARK, and The Theatre at Ace Hotel in downtown Los Angeles. The event was packed with eager fans of De Palma’s Stephen King adaptation, and there was a great Q&A after the screening hosted by Bryan Fuller, who moderated an engaging discussion between Carrie co-stars Piper Laurie, Nancy Allen, P.J. Soles, Doug Cox, Noelle North, and editor Paul Hirsch, who also collaborated with De Palma throughout his career on films including Phantom of the Paradise, The Fury, Sisters, Obsession, Blow Out, Raising Cain, and the original Mission: Impossible.
Prior to the screening, this writer had the opportunity to speak briefly with Allen—who also serves as the executive director of weSPARK—about reuniting with her Carrie family for such a truly special occasion.

The co-star of Nerve on his new film, auditioning for 21 Jump Street, Bowfinger, Jason Statham and people shouting Nancy Drew...
Nerve sees Dave Franco, a man who’s built up plaudits for supporting roles in the likes of 21 Jump Street, Now You See Me and Bad Neighbours, jump above the title. Directed by Henry Joost and Ariel Schulman (Catfish), the film lands in UK cinemas this weekend, and ahead of that, Franco headed to Britain. We caught up with him in London, and here’s what happened…
I’m a bit perturbed. Coming into the interview, I read around a bit to see what everyone else has been asking you, to try and make sure I don’t ask you all the same questions you’ve been asked before…
I like that!
Well, I’ll still ask you them, I wouldn’t get carried away.
Of course.

Coming from someone who has only seen the big screen version of Limitless in random pieces on basic cable, CBS’s new-crime-procedural-with-a-different-wallpaper is shockingly deft in doing what it sets out to accomplish. There’s a surprising amount of sweetness thanks to a core relationship between loner Brian and his sickly father, and the show as a whole works overtime in catching up anyone who may never have heard of the Bradley Cooper-starring film. All the same, it will hardly change the opinions of those who visibly revolt against those acronym-heavy procedurals that CBS trots out each year, but given the opportunity, there’s decent a chance you’ll get lost in this world along with Brian.

There is an element of subversive genius to calling a song "The Freshmen." Especially a song with an aching melody, crystalline '90s production, and a big "yeah yeah yeah" sing-along. For people of a certain age, it's hard to hear the word freshman without thinking of the song. Brian Vander Ark, lead singer and songwriter of the Verve Pipe, knows how you feel. He's sung "The Freshmen" thousands of times, and has spent a fair share of time reflecting on his own creation. Now that he's 18 years removed from the song being everywhere, he's come to terms with the fact that having a hit song is more blessing than curse. Check out his Twitter bio if you need proof. We hung a bare lightbulb in a tiny room at Karaoke Cave and invited Brian to sing "The Freshmen" along with a room full of friends. Vander Ark also opens...

We're just days away from finding out who will be the Big Brother: Timebomb champion, and it's shaping up to be one of the most open-ended finals in a long time.
We at DS have our own opinions on Chloe, Cristian, Danny, Jack, Joel and Nick - so we've decided to rank them from worst to best. Feel free to share your own order in the comments at the bottom.
6. Danny Wisker
One of the longest-running debates of the series is whether or not Danny is actually as nice as he appears to be. In a recent task, the public said 'yes' but we remain far from convinced.
At the very least, we think he's a game player - becoming the alpha male in the house backed by a handy group of followers. To give him credit, he's played the game very well, making the final and barely breaking a sweat.

Sound has been an essential part of filmmaking for nearly ninety years, yet is the art and the craft of sound mixing and sound editing is not especially appreciated by modern cinephiles, including this writer. But the recent release of Bill Pohland’s double-sided Brian Wilson biopic Love & Mercy caused me to stand to stand up and take notice of the film’s truly exception sonic wizardry, which uplifts the film, enhancing the story and giving a voice to the characters’ souls, which too often are unable to speak for themselves.
The most obvious use of sound in a movie about the life of Beach Boys songwriter Brian Wilson, the musical genius behind countless hits and the milestone album Pet Sounds, is obviously going to be in the music, and Love & Mercy does not disappoint there. The film begins with credits set to the pleasing tones of mid-‘60s Beach Boys pop-rock,...

We're now more than 50 days into this series of Big Brother. In those seven or so weeks, my opinions of the housemates have changed so much - and none have changed more than my views on Harry Amelia Martin.
I really disliked her initially, but she's won me over and she's probably my favourite at this point. Now that we're approaching the finishing straight of the competition, I honestly wouldn't mind seeing her crowned champion.
However, there are two things to keep in perspective. Firstly, there haven't been many standout characters in the house, and if you're rather neutral about Marc vs Danny, your options are even more limited. So it's probably more by default that I'm rooting for Harry.
Secondly, Harry has no chance of winning. I like her, but to many, she's a moody and miserable bunny boiler who has ruined Nick's time on the show. Harry could very well be evicted tonight,...

Big Brother can't get enough of former housemates this series, and this week the Hotel Bb shopping task will see a whole host of special guests popping in for a (probably not so luxury) stay. And the first person to check in was Big Brother 8's Charley Uchea, which we'll get to see on tonight's highlights.
She checked out again today after one night so we got her on the phone to find out what the experience was like - from flirting with Marc, to who should be evicted, to why there are condoms lying about all over the house...
Hi Charley! What was it like going back in the house? Was it a bit strange?
"It was definitely strange but other than that it was brilliant, to be honest. I had a wicked time."
Do you wish you'd stayed a bit longer?
"Oh yeah, of course. Don't get me wrong,...

Big Brother Timewarp housemates Helen Wood and Nikki Grahame have left the house.
The pair, who returned this year in a Timebomb twist alongside other past housemates, exited one by one after their relationship soured.
Simon Gross was evicted by the public earlier tonight (June 26).
Helen was the first of the legends to leave, and was met with a deafening chorus of boos from the crowd.
"It was more difficult than last year's house," she told Emma Willis. "It was a lot younger and I've never been around so many sensitive people!"
"(Being controversial) wasn't my intention this year, but I probably came across worse than I did before," Helen added.
When Willis mentioned her confrontation with Brian, Helen became defensive: "He took every single opportunity to say something horrible to me," she replied.
"I think Brian is a bully himself (and) he blamed me and Marc for absolutely everything.

Big Brother got seriously intense last night, as all the arguing got too much for Brian Belo and he legged it over the wall. What a contrast from the previous night's food fighting fun, eh?
Anyway, some of the housemates came out of it all quite well, and some really didn't (seriously... they really, really, really didn't). Read on for our daily verdict on who had a good day and who had a bad day...
Good Day
Danny Wisker
While we thought Brian handled himself really, really well last night, as an ex-housemate he's no longer eligible to be our Good Day winner. Instead, we plumped for Danny, who came out of last night looking really good.
Not only did he successfully calm down Brian and stop him from getting too riled up over Helen's hideous comments, but he was the only person who really took Helen to task...

Big Brother has confirmed that Brian Belo left the house by jumping over the wall last night - and now they've treated us to a sneak peek of the moment he quit.
Brian decided he'd had enough after yet another argument with Helen Wood and Marc O'Neill and climbed the wall, despite Nick Henderson's best efforts to stop him.

In fact, Nick even tried to pull Brian back by the ankles, but the Big Brother 8 winner told him: "No, Nick, get off my legs please."
As Big Brother tried in vain to tell Brian to return, most of the housemates rushed out to the garden in horror at the events that were unfolding.

Brian Belo quit the Big Brother house in style - by climbing over the wall.
Brian had enough of the compound after yet another argument with Helen Wood and Marc O'Neill during a game of "Who's most likely to..."
Tensions were high from early on in the task as Marc accused Brian and Nikki Grahame of being in the house for the money and Brian complained about Helen: "When I'm in your company, around the pair of you, my energy gets so subtracted. I cannot be myself around you. You tag team people. You work in cahoots."
As the conversation continued, Helen told Brian: "You're gonna lose it again aren't you. Look at the aggression in your face."
The housemates managed to calm down the situation and returned to the game, only for Nikki and Brian to suggest that Helen is the housemate most likely to marry for money.

Last night's (June 16) highlights saw Team Bunker interview everyone to decide the second person nominated this week. Straightforward? Anything but, as two of the legendary housemates didn't see eye-to-eye after the result was announced.
Who in the house did we find ourselves rooting for, and who didn't leave a good impression? Read on for our daily verdict on all the action.
Good Day
Brian Belo
It's worth pointing out that Brian appeared to be the first person to suggest Chloe to be nominated in the Bunker. And taking off and throwing his shoes behind him was a bit strange. But his ranting about Helen was enough to put him in Good Day.
Brian and Helen had a major argument in the fallout of Chloe being nominated, to the point where he stormed off. In the Diary Room, he showed his disgust about how Helen and Marc have acted over the past few days,...

There’s a moment toward the middle of director Bill Pohlad’s concise and intriguing look into the mind of Brian Wilson where one of the other members of the Beach Boys describes his feelings about the new songs Brian had been working on without the assistance of the rest of the band: “Even the happy songs sound sad.” This simple line doesn’t just embody the type of music that Brian Wilson was composing at this time that would ultimately lead to the critically lauded but commercially unsuccessful album Pet Sounds, but it also perfectly captures the tone of Love & Mercy – a name that stems from a song Brian Wilson wrote. At its heart, the film stands as a love letter to the creative mind that would write some of the most beautiful songs of all time, and yet there’s a deep sadness that makes the film much...

In the Aloha press notes writer/director Cameron Crowe (Almost Famous, We Bought a Zoo) says the movie is "about second chances at life." Maybe that's how Crowe sees it, but that's sort of the sickly sweet Cameron Crowe way of looking at things, which is sort of the biggest issue facing this movie. The more realistic approach to Aloha is to recognize it as a film saying, "Life is sh*tty, people are sh*tty, and if you can find any measure of happiness in this sh*tty existence hold on and don't let go." I don't say this to suggest there's anything wrong with this sentiment. In fact, I agree with it. However, in the context of this film it serves as a conflicted approach. Crowe lacquers on a sugary facade over some rather -- I don't want to say "dark" -- tough life lessons, but it takes more than constant,...

The first indication that Aloha is a project by filmmaker and music aficionado Cameron Crowe comes during the opening logos, when we hear a record player’s needle drop. The next sign is boastful voice-over from the main character, played by Bradley Cooper, speaking of his expertise as a defense contractor as we glimpse the earth from above. Nearly 20 years ago, in Jerry Maguire, Tom Cruise’s title character also spoke of his career prowess as the camera fixated on our glimmering planet.
Regardless, the most obvious give-away of the film’s writer/director comes from the rapport of the two main characters. One is Brian Gilcrest (Cooper), a man who used to be a dreamer but has turned into a bottom line cynic. The other is a headstrong idealist, Private Allison Ng (pronounced “Ing,” played by Emma Stone), whose personal goal is to bring some sun into Brian’s life,...

When Andy Lack was named chairman of NBC News in March, many assumed he would immediately get to work reinstating exiled Nightly News anchor Brian Williams. During his first stint at NBC News, Lack oversaw the transition from Tom Brokaw to Williams and has maintained a friendship with the suspended anchor. But sources tell The Hollywood Reporter that Lack has not made a decision about the Williams' fate. "He's going to be a surprisingly tough hurdle for Brian to clear," says one person familiar with Lack's thinking. "He's not going to bring him back unless, one, the facts allow;

The Fast & Furious franchise has long since reached the point that it has become not only critic-proof, but analysis-proof. Those who like the films don’t need a reason anymore, they like them because they like them. The films can do anything now. They’re appeal is simply that they’re shiny.
Furious 7 is very aware of this, so when an idea for a stunt, or plot turn comes up, it just gets thrown in. No one worries about whether or not it makes sense to the story, is true to the characters, or is even remotely plausible.
The result is that when a drug lord flies a military helicopter through Los Angeles to chase our crew of heroes, launching missiles and blowing up buildings along the way, the audience isn’t supposed to think beyond the pretty explosions in order to wonder about things like how said helicopter...

Well it’s that time of year again – the one where websites across the globe churn out Top 10 list after top ten list. So why should we be any different?! Yet whilst we may be following the predictable end of year lists, I can guarantee that my list is anything but predictable, featuring films from across the globe: including the Us, Canada, Italy, Australia, New Zealand and even good old Blighty!
This year more than ever there has been film after film that knocked it out of the park for me – which is why my Top 10 list has Two sections: the Top 10 and then the pick of 35(!) more brilliant movies (I would have loved this list to be a Top 45, honestly). So what’s my criteria? Well it has to be a movie I’ve seen this year, one that was released this year, i.e. making its UK debut,...

There are very few film makers working today who have the same filmic sensibilities as me, whose work resonates with me the most – be it because I can see influences in their work that inspired me or be it that they’re just as demented as me (and I mean that in a good way). In fact I can count them on one hand: The Astron-6 guys, Dustin Mills, Kaare Andrews, Pearry Teo and Jason Trost. Season Four of our favorite show about teenage monsters kicks off with a run for the border, some dungeon crawling and Stiles being a bad ass.
Previously on Teen Wolf, Beacon Hills was invaded by psycho Alphas, a murderous dark druid, a bushel of Oni, some Kitsune and Scott’s dad. Lydia became a banshee, Derek became a beta, Scott became Werewolf Jesus and Allison became dead. And of course Stiles exhausted himself by being both the hero and the villain of S3B and doing an awesome job at both. Oh, and Kate Argent came back from the dead as a Weresmurf. And Heather Hogan recapped it all and was wonderful and perfect but she’s had to step aside so now you get me.
Team Stiles Scott arrives in Mexico because someone has stolen their Derek and that is just not cool. Sure, Isaac has gone Mia, but...

With the release of the next Godzilla blockbuster less than a month away, it’s time to start whetting our appetites for giant monster movies. Aside from our well-worn DVDs of Pacific Rim, what’s out there? We’re glad you asked. How about a swim with Poseidon Rex?
We sat down with veteran director Mark Lester – best known for his 80s action flicks – to find five fun reasons to check out P-Rex.
1. Criminals Are People Too
Although the character Brian Krause plays in Poseidon Rex is a smuggler and a thief, he’s got a softer side. “I hired Brian to act in the film, having known him from his work on ‘Charmed’,” said Lester. “I thought he was perfect for a criminal with a nice side so he could be the hero of the film also.”
2. Godzilla Hates Thugs
It’s fun watching giant dinos munch on puny drug lords.
