Her writing credits span theatre, TV, radio, and she has written more than 20 fiction and non-fiction books for children and adults. - Owing to the fact that her father Claus Toksvig was covering the Apollo mission, at the moment when Neil Armstrong stepped onto the Moon, an 11-year-old Sandi was in Houston's Mission Control, holding the hand of Mr Armstrong's secretary.
- Spoke with a strong New York accent when she first came to the UK aged 13 and found nobody would talk to her. After six months at school Sandi decided to adopt an English accent to help her make friends and after watching the film Brief Encounter (1945) decided to try and emulate actress Celia Johnson's speaking voice.
- Although born in Denmark, she grew up in the USA until, at the age of 14, she moved to the UK, where she has lived ever since.
- Has a First Class Honours Degree in Archaeology and Anthropology from Girton College, University of Cambridge.
