Fans of John Green’s “Looking for Alaska” who don’t want the upcoming Hulu adaptation of the beloved 2005 Ya novel to clear up the ambiguity at the center of the story can breathe a sigh of relief, because the limited series’ creator, Josh Schwartz, says they won’t explain anything.
“We will never know what happened that night,” the “Gossip Girl” and “O.C.” mastermind told reporters during the Television Critics Association’s summer press tour Friday. “And if you’ve seen the first episode, that is as much as you will see of the event. And it is a mystery what happened and that is part of what the characters will have to grapple with, and the audience.”

Following the successful feature adaptations of The Fault In Our Stars and Paper Towns, YouTube star John Green will see his first-ever novel, Looking For Alaska, turned into a limited series at Hulu.
The eight-episode run will be produced by Paramount Television and Fake Empire Productions -- whose co-founder Josh Schwartz wrote the pilot and has been shopping the project since the novel’s debut 13 years ago. Schwartz, who created teen staple The O.C., will serve as executive producer and showrunner. Alaska was initially set as a film at Paramount Pictures, Deadline reports, though after languishing in development for many years, Schwartz recently re-approached Green about the idea of a series -- to which he promptly agreed.
Other executive producers on Alaska include Green, Jessica Tuchinsky, Mark Waters, and Marty Bowen of Temple Hill Entertainment.

Hulu is in the midst of closing a deal with Schwartz and Stephanie Savage’s Fake Empire and Paramount Television for an eight-episode limited series based on the book, insiders with knowledge of the project tell TheWrap.
“The O.C.” producer, who has been working to adapt Green’s best-selling young adult novel for over a decade, penned the pilot and will serve as executive producer and showrunner. Green, Jessica Tuchinsky, Mark Waters and Marty Bowen of Temple Hill will also executive produce, along with Fake Empire’s Lis Rowinski as co-executive produce.

“Looking for Alaska” is told through the perspective of teen Miles “Pudge” Halter, as he enrolls in a boarding school to try to gain a deeper understanding of life. He meets Alaska Young, a student who he falls in love with while she guides him through his personal “labyrinth of suffering” throughout the school year. When Alaska unexpectedly dies, Miles must work through his grief as he and his other close friends work to uncover the truth behind Alaska’s death.
The project has gone through many incarnations since Schwartz first received the then-unpublished manuscript for “The Fault in Our Stars” author’s debut novel in 2005, with former Paramount Pictures boss Gail Berman originally purchasing the rights for Schwartz to write and potentially direct a feature and Paramount TV president Amy Powell helping to move the project from the feature division to TV.
The limited series marks Schwartz and Savage’s second project at the streaming service, along with “Marvel’s Runaways,” which was renewed for a Season 2.

His whole life has been one big non-event, and his obsession with famous last words has only made him crave “the Great Perhaps” even more. He heads off to the sometimes crazy and anything-but-boring world of Culver Creek Boarding School,...

Mean Girls director, Mark Waters, is in negotiations to direct project titled Get Back, which is actually Beatles – based and time-travel comedy.
You already guess that the project is based on the popular Beatles song that was featured as the closing track of the Beatles’ final album Let It Be.
The movie is written by Chris McCoy and will center on the discovery of a time machine by two die-hard Beatles fans, who travel back in time to prevent John Lennon from meeting Yoko Ono, who they blame for the break-up of the group.
Sounds quite interesting?
The film will be produced by Kimmel, Matt Berenson, Waters and Jessica Tuchinsky. Jim Tauber is executive producing.
Waters previously directed movies like Ghosts of Girlfriends Past, The Spiderwick Chronicles, Mean Girls and Freaky Friday, so we have no doubts he’s probably the best man when it comes to the above mentioned story.

"Precious" dominated the 25th Spirit Awards March 5 with wins for best feature, best director (Lee Daniels), best first screenplay (Geoffrey Fletcher), best female lead (Gabourey Sidibe), and best supporting female (Mo'Nique). It's a poetic turn for the film, which focuses on the kind of girl that no one looks at twice, to have such an overwhelming acknowledgment from the independent film community. Likewise, in the pressroom, Sidibe joked that her upcoming plans included "world domination." This might have had something to do with her co-star Mariah Carey whispering that very phrase in her ear. "Mariah gives me all my bad ideas," said Sidibe, laughing. "[The film's success] really is a testament to the genius of Mr. Daniels. He has the power to transform people with completely different personalities into something 180 degrees different."Daniels expressed excitement for the upcoming Oscars, which took place two days later. "I am over the moon. Whether or not we win the Oscar,...

Best Performance By An Actor In A Motion Picture – Drama
“The Hollywood Foreign Press has been mighty fine to me over the past 30 years, and this year is especially sweet. I’m happy to share this nom with my buddies T Bone Burnett and Ryan Bingham for our Crazy Heart theme song, and with our writer-director Scott Cooper and co-stars Maggie, Bob and Colin who helped make Bad Blake such a genuine character. I would like to dedicate this recognition to the memory of the late, great Stephen Bruton who brought his musical touch to every part of the picture.”

"I'm pumped!" James Cameron said before hopping a plane from New York to Los Angeles, where he hoped to celebrate with the cast and crew of best drama nominee "Avatar" at a screening Tuesday night. "It's been a 4 1/2-year journey, and this is not typically the kind of film that critics love, it being a genre movie and being seen as a big commercial movie." Cameron, also nominated for a best director Golden Globe, was pleased the movie also got some love in the music category. "I think this is James Horner's best score to date," he says. But he says he is sad his actors got short shrift. "Maybe there's a sense that acting for performance capture isn't the same as acting for a lens, which is going to take an education. I think that will eventually go away.
