ProSiebenSat.1 COO Christof Wahl is leaving the German broadcaster and media company. He has overseen the company’s efforts to diversify and open up revenue streams beyond TV advertising. As such he has overseen the company’s online video and ad business, including the 7Tv streaming service that ProSieben runs with Discovery.
ProSieben said that Wahl was leaving by mutual consent at the end of July and that it would then combine its digital and entertainment businesses. It has been a period of executive upheaval at ProSieben, with Thomas Ebeling announcing his exit as CEO late last year soon after making controversial comments in which he called ProSieben viewers “obese” and “poor.” Company revenues slipped 3% in the first quarter, although it said it had enjoyed a “solid start” to 2018.

BERLIN -- Willi Geike, head of German theatrical operations for Warner Bros., has been promoted to president and managing director of Warner Bros. Entertainment Germany and Austria.
Geike's elevation was announced Thursday by Warner Bros. chairman and CEO Barry M. Meyer, president and chief operating officer Alan F. Horn and executive vp international Richard Fox.
In his new position, Geike will be responsible for all of Warner's activities in Germany and Austria, from theatrical production and distribution to home video, marketing, TV distribution and consumer products.
In a separate corporate shuffle, Christof Wahl, head of German cable giant Kabel Deutschland (KDG). has resigned and will be replaced by Adrian von Hammerstein, currently a top executive with electronics group Siemens. T
he move was expected after private equity group Providence, which controls a 95% stake in KDG, expressed disappointment with the company's sluggish growth.
Von Hammerstein will have the difficult job of trying to expand KDG's nascent telephony business in the highly competitive German market.

COLOGNE, Germany -- The frontrunners for this year's top local awards, the Lolas, were shut out of Germany's No. 2 film nods, the German Camera Awards. Florian Henckel-Donnersmarck's The Lives of Others and Hans-Christian Schmid's Requiem, which both scooped 10 Lola noms, failed to pick up a single German Camera mention. None of the Lola best-film nominees made this year's Camera prize shortlist, which honors excellence in cinematography and editing in film and television. In the feature film category, Carl-Friedrich Koschnik was nominated for lensing Oliver Hirschbiegel's Just an Ordinary Jew, Juergen Juerges for camera work on Sabine Michel's Take Your Life! and Christof Wahl for Til Schweiger's Barefoot. Editing noms went to Anja Neeral for Take Your Life! Barbara Gies for Tobias Hansen's No Songs of Love, Hansjoerg Weissbrich for editing Leander Haussmann's NVA and Christel Suckow for his work on Dominik Graf's The Red Cockatoo. This year's German Camera Prize winners will be announced May 23 in Cologne.
