His father Robert Borden Ward was born in Kansas while his mother Karen Elizabeth Castro grew up in Northern California. Tony was discovered by a scout while attending West Valley College in Saratoga, California and started modeling at age eighteen. Among the photographers Ward has worked with throughout his long, varied, and impressive career are Herb Ritts, Karl Lagerfield, Steven Klein, Terry Richardson, Greg Gorman, Jack Pierson, and Steven Meisel. Tony has appeared in print ads and/or TV commercials for such clients as Calvin Klein Underwear, D&G Fragrance, Wrangler Blue Bell Jeans, H&M, Dolce & Gabbana, Dewars Scotch Whisky, H.I.S. Jeans, Nordstrom, Chanel Platinum Egoiste, Fendi, Volvo, and Hugo Boss. He not only was featured in Madonna's controversial "Sex" book, but also appeared in the music videos for the Madonna songs "Cherish," "Justify My Love," and "Erotica." Ward played the lead role of a male hustler in the film "Hustler White" and has acted in a few other movies that include "All About the Benjamins," "Story of Jen," and "L.A. Zombie."
