The daughter of a retired British army officer, she yearned to be a concert pianist and only found out from her music teacher after ten years of hard study that this was never going to happen.
She was awarded the 'Laurence Olivier (I)' Theatre Award in 1982 (1981
season) for Best Actress in a Supporting Role for her performance in "Present Laughter".
Trained at the Old Vic and at the Embassy Theatre.
A memorial service was held for her at St. Paul's Church, Covent Garden on 22nd March 1994.
