"I think when David Bowie died, the universe broke." Giant Pics has debuted a trailer for the indie drama Speed of Life, the latest film from film critic ("Just Seen It") / filmmaker Liz Manashil. This premiered at the Nashville Film Festival, and will be available on VOD this month. The film centers around David Bowie's death in 2016, which causes a rift in time and space. It starts in 2016 with a couple, June and Edward, but Edward falls into a wormhole created by Bowie's passing. Then it jumps to 2040, when Edward suddenly reappears in her life after years of mourning his disappearance. Ann Dowd stars as the older June, with Allison Tolman playing her in 2016. The cast includes Ray Santiago, Jeff Perry, Vella Lovell, Sean Wright, and Christine Weatherup. A strange story for a film, but looks like it has a few good moments. Here's the official trailer (+ poster) for Liz Manashil's Speed of Life,...

As “Westworld” has evolved over the last several weeks, brothel madam Maeve, played by Thandie Newton, has become one of the show’s most intriguing characters. The first indication that something weird was going on with her came during the Season 2 episode “Chestnut,” when memories of a past life collided with behavioral malfunctions, leading to a moment when Maeve tries to seduce a female guest visiting the park – but fails.
Getting the full court press from Newton was actress Christine Weatherup, playing the role of “Female Guest.” Weatherup thoroughly enjoyed the experience: “Of all the people to be groped by, not only is she amazingly beautiful, but also a genuinely kind and nice person,” she told IndieWire.

'Bread and Butter' movie: Christine Weatherup and Bobby Moynihan. 'Bread and Butter' movie review: Late life virginity and other social anxieties in a funny and awkwardly romantic comedy The first insight of debuting feature film director Liz Manashil is that romantic comedies should actually be funny first and romantic second – if ever. Her film Bread and Butter eventually works its way to a kind of awkward romanticism, but it's always dryly funny; its silliness deftly masked by all manner of understatement and managed execution. The second insight of the screenwriter-director was to populate her funny romance with the kind of people you almost never see in romantic comedies; which is to say people who look like people you might know, who have friends you might have, and who deal with issues less explored and probably more common than we tend to talk about, including social and other anxieties, as well as late life virginity.

In the midst of festival season, "Saturday Night Live" alum Bill Hader has recently demonstrated his dramatic chops in "The Skeleton Twins." And now, one of his former fellow castmates Bobby Moynihan (aka Drunk Uncle aka Ass Dan) is also turning things down a notch in "Bread And Butter." The actor co-stars with Christine Weatherup in the film, written and directed by Liz Manashil, that follows a 30 year-old virgin Amelia who falls for Leonard, the man who added his own thoughts to the margins of a used book she bought. But another guy, Daniel, comes calling, and soon she's faced with complications from the world of dating for the first time. And in this exclusive clip, you can see Daniel awkwardly making his affections known. "Bread And Butter" will have its world premiere at Woodstock Film Festival, which kicks off on October 15th. Watch below.
