It’s that time of the year again when we discuss the Wizarding World of Harry Potter. Penned by J.K. Rowling, the Harry Potter books were something iconic that changed the genre of magic and spells. The faithful film adaptations added more charm to the books and made Rowling worldwide famous.
With iconic characters Harry, Ron, and, Hermione on a quest to save the world, the characters were quite phenomenal in their own way. Well…most of them. Ron Weasely, portrayed by Rupert Grint, could have been more than a third-wheel but it was Rowling’s emotional choice that saved Ron Weasely from trauma (and character development)!

Julia Garner is one of the most promising young actors in the industry at present, and her role in Ozark proved it without a shadow of a doubt. While the actress has carved a niche for herself in the thriller genre, her versatility knows no bounds.
Garner has already found fame with the Netflix show. However, her career is set to get a big boost with Marvel Studios nabbing her to play an iconic character in the new Fantastic Four film. Garner is a rare prodigy, but her one fear on the sets of Ozark proved that she is still as human as anyone else.

1990s sketch series The Fast Show is hitting the road for a 30th anniversary tour around the UK, and here are the details.
When talking about British comedy in the 1990s, it is impossible to overstate the impact of The Fast Show. With a plethora of characters that have successfully stood the test of time, the series itself stands up remarkably well to repeat viewings.
Although many of the characters were well known for their catchphrases – has anybody ever been measured up for a suit in the last thirty years without being able to resist the temptation to say “suits you sir! – there was a darker edge to the writing.
A good example is Rowley Birkin, a Paul Whitehouse character who is usually played as a babbling alcoholic. The final episode of series two features an unusually restrained performance, where the audience stops laughing and are stunned into silence as...

If a writer options their screenplay for a fee tied to the film’s budget and that budget is later increased, is their manager obligated to disclose the bump and renegotiate their pay if the manager is also a producer on the project?
The answer to that question appears to be no, at least in the case of screenwriter Kurt McLeod, who sued Zero Gravity Management alleging it had a conflict of interest when it negotiated his deal for writing Copshop.
U.S. District Judge Fred Slaughter, in an order issued on Tuesday, found that Zero Gravity and its founders Eric and Mark Williams won’t have to face a suit accusing them of prioritizing their payout for producing Copshop to the detriment of their client by failing disclose that the budget for the movie had been substantially raised. Surprised by Oxford marks the feature directorial debut of filmmaker Ryan Whitaker, who's adapting the story found in the memoir by Carolyn Weber. Adam Beach must leave his family in a desperate attempt to protect them in an exclusive first look at “Exile,” which you can watch above.
The trailer lays out the high concept. Ted Evans is being menaced by a man connected to a prior sin. He previously was in a fatal auto accident while driving under the influence. The man whose family he killed is about to be released from prison. The deal: “You leave your family, or I kill your family.” However, his wife isn’t so willing to give up on him. Of course, that’s because she thinks that the threat is not tangible but rather a manifestation of his guilt.
Written by Michael Beaton and directed by Jason James, “Exile” will be distributed by Electric Entertainment and released Oct. 10 on VOD. Amber Ripley and Sammie Astaneh are producers. Ellie Fox, Mark Williams, Tai Duncan and Jhod Cardinal...

Why do we find murder mysteries so uniquely relaxing? This is one of the age-old questions about human nature, up there with ‘what is consciousness?’ and ‘why do we keep eating mouldy cheese and fish eggs like it’s a good thing?’ Because, despite the grief and blood and mountains of paperwork that a gruesome murder causes, we simply can’t get enough of curling up on the sofa with a mug of tea and a cosy crime drama to keep us blissfully entertained all the way through to bedtime.
This isn’t a new thing, either: while modern series like Death in Paradise and Shakespeare and Hathaway are the current champions of cosy crime TV, back in the eighties and nineties classics like Murder She Wrote and Hetty Wainthropp Investigates taught us how it’s done. So whether you’re after the latest in the cosy crime genre or some more nostalgic viewing,...

South Asian representation in cinema has come a long way, with increased visibility and recognition in the last few years. However, despite the progress made, it is important to acknowledge that there is still work to be done to ensure more authentic and inclusive portraits of the diverse South Asian community in cinema and provide opportunities for South Asian filmmakers and actors to tell their stories on their own terms. In this regard, director Isher Sahota – of extensive television experience – has teamed up with writer James Hey and producer Jon Tarcy of independent production company Bonaparte Films, to bring to the public “The Effects of Lying”, a British comedy/drama with an all-Asian cast. “The Effects of Lying” is the first feature film for Sahota and Tarcy and has been acquired by the streaming service Itvx.

The world No. 10 then claimed the first four frames on Monday, extending his advantage to 13-8. Selby fought back from 16-10 down to 16-15 in the last session, but Brecel secured the final two frames to become the fourth non-British winner at the season finale of the World Snooker Tour.

The central family in the movie happens to be British Asian. “It’s not a British Asian Film. It’s a film about family, about secrets, about loss, about desire,” says Sahota of the project, which is his debut feature.
Based on a script by James Hey (“Doctors”), and directed by Isher Sahota (“Hollyoaks”), the film follows a dutiful husband and loving father whose life falls apart when decades of festering secrets are exposed and he’s forced to face up to who he really is. The cast includes Ace Bhatti, Laila Rouass, Navin Chowdhry, Shaheen Khan (“Mogul Mowgli”), Lauren Patel (“Everybody’s Talking About Jamie”), Adam Bregman and Mark Williams (the Harry Potter franchise).
Variety caught up with the cast and crew of the film on set in London during principal photography.

Freddie Highmore and Maisie Williams will star in an adaptation of a bizarre true story about an American ex-beauty queen who was accused of kidnapping and raping a Mormon missionary in England.
Entitled “Sinner V. Saints,” the movie is directed by Tim Kirkby and will be sold by WestEnd Films, which is shopping the project to buyers in Cannes next week. The film will begin shooting in the first quarter of 2023 in the U.S. and U.K.
Set in 1970s Los Angeles and London, “Sinner V. Saints” is based on the true story of Joyce McKinney, who went to extreme lengths to stop the Mormon church from taking away her sexual obsession: a nebbish Mormon missionary named Kirk Anderson. The sordid relationship — which was the focus of the 2010 Errol Morris documentary “Tabloid” — went awry and eventually resulted in accusations of kidnapping and rape against McKinney.

“Ozark” cinematographer Shawn Kim came aboard the show at the start of Season 4 with a good idea of what creators Bill Dubuque and Mark Williams wanted for the look of the dark thriller about a mob accountant and his family who relocate from Chicago to the Missouri Ozarks: A “sense of danger in the shadows,” Kim says.
“Ozark” fans have been waiting three months for the second half of the season to find out what happens to the Byrdes — Jason Bateman’s Marty, wife Wendy (Laura Linney) and their two children — as they try to wriggle free from the clutches of the drug cartel that employs him and the FBI that wants to imprison him. But Kim says the final seven installments, which drops April 29 and close out the Netflix series, are built around the ambitious Ruth (Julia Garner), who had worked for Marty and saw her world collapse around...
