She co-wrote "September" and "Boogie Wonderland" for Earth, Wind & Fire in 1978. Her other songs included "Neutron Dance" for the Pointer Sisters, Patti LaBelle's "Stir It Up" and themes for the TV series Friends and the movie The Karate Kid.
Her motorized artwork, sculpture and furniture have been featured in
museums and galleries around the world.
Was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2018.
Her home, a pink 1937 Streamline Moderne L.A. house, was known as "Willis Wonderland.".
Daughter of Rose, a schoolteacher, and Nathan Willis, a scrapyard owner. Her father was a Russian Jewish immigrant and her mother was a Polish Jewish immigrant.
Her funeral services were held at Mount Sinai Memorial Park in Hollywood Hills, California on December 26, 2019 at 3:00pm.
