Real-life married couple Ewan McGregor and Mary Elizabeth Winstead fall in love again on screen in A Gentleman in Moscow. An adaptation of Amor Towles‘ best-selling novel, the actors play Count Alexander Rostov and film star Anna Urbanova, whose romance takes decades to brew as Alexander spends life under house arrest in Moscow’s Hotel Metropol. The Count finds himself in this gilded cage in the aftermath of the Russian Revolution. The nobleman’s life was spared, but he will be shot on sight if he steps foot outside of the hotel. The hotel’s staff and guests become Rostov’s family as he remains determined to make the best of his circumstances, but flashbacks to his troubled past provide a stark reminder of the pain underneath this stately and sensitive man. Plot: Count Alexander Rostov, in the aftermath of the Russian Revolution, finds that his gilded past has placed him on the wrong side of history. Spared immediate execution, he is banished by a Soviet tribunal to an attic room in the opulent Hotel Metropol and threatened with death if he ever sets foot outside again. As the years pass and some of the most tumultuous decades in Russian history unfold outside the hotel’s doors, Rostov’s reduced circumstances provide him entry into a much larger world of emotional discovery. As he builds a new life within the walls of the hotel, he discovers the true value of friendship, family and love.
Review: Ewan McGregor is a singular talent. The acclaimed actor can sing, share the screen with Winnie the Pooh, fight Darth Vader, and play a convincing heroin addict. He has also proven himself adept at sharing the screen with family members.

Injecting traces of whimsy into a historical tragedy is a precarious thing. If you do it well, you get Anthony Doerr’s All the Light We Cannot See, but if you do it poorly, you get Netflix’s All the Light We Cannot See. And it isn’t some clear-cut empirical thing, since Life Is Beautiful and Jojo Rabbit are Oscar-winning classics for some and unbearable pablum to others. (Me, I am Others.)
One person’s “restraint” is another person’s “excessively muted” and yet another person’s “still too darned sentimental.”
I’m here to praise Showtime’s A Gentleman in Moscow for its general restraint. The limited series take on Amor Towles’ 2016 novel tiptoes along an allegorical line, without toppling over into either outright whimsy or voyeuristic gawking at the flawed idealism and generational traumas of the Bolshevik Revolution. It’s a dark story that still has some levity,...

Amor Towles’s A Gentleman in Moscow was published in 2016, five years before Russia’s top opposition leader (and Vladimir Putin’s fiercest foe) Alexei Navalny returned to his homeland and was immediately imprisoned. Showtime’s eight-part adaptation of Towles’s novel, about a Navalny-like political prisoner in Russia, serendipitously makes its premiere not long after Navalny died in a Russian prison camp. But the comparisons between reality and fiction largely end there. A Gentleman in Moscow is a glossy, romanticized series that mostly suggests rather than shows the horrors of a totalitarian regime.
The story of the show echoes Navalny’s with its occasionally tin-eared, though still potent, portrayal of an unlikely dissident who refuses to abandon his country but has limited means to fight for it. In 1921, the perky-mustached Count Alexander Rostov (Ewan McGregor) is given a life sentence by a Soviet court for vague counterrevolutionary reasons. But instead of a gulag,...

Before Mary Elizabeth Winstead played the roles of comic book-based Ramona Flowers and John McClane’s daughter, she starred as Lee Montgomery in Quentin Tarantino’s Death Proof. At the time, Winstead was making her mark in the horror slasher genre, even leading the ensemble cast of Final Destination 3. When she got the audition call for Death Proof, Winstead pulled off one little trick to get past the audition stage.

Hollywood faces a significant imbalance when it comes to its stars. There are some actors like Adam Sandler who can’t separate the profession from real life and cast his friends and family as characters in movies. Then, there are others who vanish into a role for years, portraying their commitment to the art.
Actors like Dwayne Johnson and Adam Sandler often portray characters close to their real-life persona
While bringing their real-life persona into a character is not necessarily a bad thing, there are actors whom the audiences love for it and some whom they hate for the same. Here’s a look at actors who often portray characters close to their public image.

Intimacy coordinators, basically delicate choreographers for sex scenes, are not new to Hollywood productions. But this may be a first.
For the Paramount+ with Showtime limited series “A Gentleman in Moscow,” in which Ewan McGregor plays a Russian aristocrat banished to a bleak hotel room during the early days of the Soviet Union, the actor told Britain’s Radio Times that the production still used an intimacy coordinator for one romantic sequence, even though his scene partner was Mary Elizabeth Winstead, his wife of two years.
“We did have an intimacy coordinator!” McGregor said, when it was suggested he probably didn’t need one. “It’s still necessary, because it’s also about the crew, and it’s odd to be naked in front of people, it’s odd to be intimate in front of the camera. Ewan McGregor opened up in a recent Radio Times cover story about his experience working with his wife Mary Elizabeth Winstead on “A Gentleman in Moscow.”
In particular, McGregor revealed that he and Winstead had an intimacy coordinator on set while filming sex scenes for the new drama series.

For McGregor, it’s also crucial that productions hire intimacy coordinators because in the past, a young actor — similar in age to his 22-year-old daughter Esther — may have felt pressured to perform in “unnecessary” scenes.

Star Wars actors Ewan McGregor and Mary Elizabeth Winstead have revealed their son's reaction to meeting Grogu on set for the first time.
Speaking with Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show, McGregor and Winstead discussed how their son Laurie wanted to meet his favorite Star Wars character, Grogu. Although the character wasn't in Ahsoka, the series that the duo were on set for, Lucasfilm brought Grogu to life by having special effects artists control the puppet as if it were a real scene. Despite Grogu being the child's favorite hero, McGregor said that the meeting went badly wrong as the boy wouldn't stop screaming for the entirety of their time together. The parents also noted that their child was scared of how lifelike and real Grogu's puppet was.

Star Wars has quite a list of projects in the works currently, from Mangold’s new Star Wars film that takes place thousands of years in the past to Waititi’s undisclosed project that he claimed “will piss off the fans.’ There’s also a new movie focusing on Rey’s restoration of the Jedi order 15 years in the future, which won’t, according to the rumors, lead to a new trilogy but will rather be a standalone movie. Additionally, Filoni is actively working on the development of ‘Ahsoka’ Season 2, among other upcoming projects.
In this sea of upcoming projects, fans were consistently asking about ‘Obi-Wan Kenobi’ season 2. Ewan McGregor shed some light on the potential future of the series during his The Tonight Show appearance with his wife, Mary Elizabeth Winstead.
For me, I have no news to tell, I’m waiting for the call. I don’t know if its happening.

Star Wars is a family affair for Ewan McGregor, with his wife Mary Elizabeth Winstead now playing Hera Syndulla in Ahsoka. Ewan McGregor recalled a hilarious set visit, in which Lucasfilm arranged for their son to meet the real Grogu. Unfortunately, it didn't go well...
Speaking on the Tonight Show, Ewan McGregor has remembered a set visit to Ahsoka - and a meeting with Grogu that went wrong. Star Wars has always been a family affair for Ewan McGregor; he may not have been a Jedi like his father before him, but his uncle Denis Lawson actually played Wedge Antilles in the original trilogy. More recently, McGregor's wife Mary Elizabeth Winstead joined the cast of Ahsoka as Hera Syndulla, and naturally McGregor got to visit the set. He brought their one-and-a-half-year-old son with him at the time.

When portraying a romantic story on the screen, any story needs two leads that have chemistry with each other, allowing their characters to shine while they fall in love. And it's going to be harder to find someone who has more chemistry than a couple married in real life. Empire Magazine has shared a new image from A Gentleman in Moscow, starring Ewan McGregor and Mary Elizabeth Winstead. The television series, which is currently set to premiere on March 29 on Paramount+ and Paramount+ with Showtime, will feature the married couple portraying characters that will get to know each other deeply.

What does a great screen romance need? It requires chemistry, that intangible frisson between the interested parties. It needs the tension of a will-they-won’t-they, where narrative circumstance and personal foibles threaten to keep the destined duo apart. And it really soars if you have actors willing to go there, putting everything on the line to hook you deeply into the emotional stakes. For the multiple-decade-spanning love story that spins through A Gentleman In Moscow, the upcoming series adaptation of Amor Towles’ acclaimed novel, all three of those factors were bolstered by the casting of Ewan McGregor and Mary Elizabeth Winstead – whose real-life relationship deepens the on-screen bond between Count Rostov and Anna Urbanova, playing out against the backdrop of the Russian Revolution.

Ewan McGregor's real-life wife, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, stars in his new show A Gentleman in Moscow. McGregor and Winstead will play onscreen lovers in the miniseries, following their real-life romance that began after meeting on the set of Fargo. The rare occurrence of a married couple playing love interests on screen adds an extra layer of intrigue to A Gentleman in Moscow.
There's a real-life connection between the main couple in Ewan McGregor's new TV show A Gentleman in Moscow that will elevate the Showtime miniseries to new heights. Disney is a huge conglomerate with stakes in every genre of films and shows. The House of Mouse has established itself in genres such as sci-fi with Star Wars, animation with Pixar and Disney Animation, and the superhero genre with Marvel. The company also acquired Fox Studios, thus owning the Avatar franchise as well.
While Disney has been the parent company of these studios, they largely operate on their own. Hence, when Kung Fu Panda 4 director Mike Mitchell was asked if his Kurt Russell starring superhero film Sky High would get a sequel, he mentioned that it would make more sense for Marvel to take over and develop the film as Disney wanted Marvel to be in charge of superheroes.

Anthony Daniels reveals he wanted to honor Alec Guinness as C-3Po in Ahsoka, repeating an iconic line from A New Hope. Daniels reportedly entered the New Republic Senate meeting by stating the line "You don't need to see my identification" after Obi-Wan said the same in the original Star Wars. A home release of Ahsoka could offer bonus features, including a chance for Daniels to see the scene in which he honored his old costar onscreen.
C-3Po star Anthony Daniels has revealed a cut Obi-Wan Kenobi Easter egg that was set to be part of Ahsoka. Daniels' inclusion in Ahsoka was undoubtedly one of the series' biggest surprises. With upcoming Star Wars TV shows set to further explore the New Republic era, it could well be the case that C-3Po's time as an ally to Hera Syndulla continues. "Sky High" remains one of the better Disney movies of the 2000s. It is a superhero film that satirizes the genre, telling the story of the son of the two biggest superheroes on the planet and what happens when he enrolls in a high school for superheroes. Yes, it is essentially a live-action version of "My Hero Academia" (which now has its own version in the works), but funnier.
The family-friendly film was ahead of its time, and it had a stacked cast that included — much like "Scott Pilgrim — actors who would become big shortly thereafter, like Mary Elizabeth Winstead and eventual "Succession" actor Nicholas Braun. It's a fun movie with a simple premiere that could easily hold a much larger world we never got to see. Every adult acts like they could have a trilogy of films, and every young hero and villain looks screen-ready for a much larger role.

It would seem that nudity in film is something that has existed from the very start of Hollywood. Although considered taboo to this date by a big chunk of its audience, there has always been a form of poetic expression to it. Most female celebrities are pressured into it and a majority of them have some or the other negative experience with it. Unfortunately, Kate Winslet is one such actress.

Cultural differences and storytelling challenges may have led to the American adaptation's cancellation.

The producers at New Line Cinema had the opening fatality of Final Destination 3 in their back pocket well before the movie’s 2006 premiere. In fact, talks of a deadly theme park ride made the rounds before creative partners James Wong and Glen Morgan returned to write the script. After the disappointing return on 2003’s Willard, New Line wanted something thrilling for its next horror project. A “roller coaster” movie, as New Line founder Robert Shaye put it. Like-minded Richard Brener is also owed some credit; the executive producer apparently was on the same wavelength after brainstorming ideas — initially anything big and transportational, such as boats and trains — for the intended conclusion of this franchise. However, the overwhelming box-office numbers steered the original plan off course and Death lived on to kill another day.
