Hollywood has never really accepted that you can’t recapture lightning in a bottle. No matter how context-specific a blockbuster’s success was, you can always count on an executive to insist on making a follow-up even if that doesn’t make sense for the story. That being said, sequels aren’t always doomed to failure, and one of the most famous examples of this is James Cameron’s Terminator 2, a film that refused to do the same thing twice and became just as iconic as the original.
Naturally, Hollywood learned all of the wrong lessons from the success of T2, as most of its sequels would be repetitive cash-grabs simply reiterating on the same tired ideas of fate, time travel and robot assassins. The only real exception to this curse would be 2009’s controversial Terminator Salvation, a post-apocalyptic thriller that genuinely expands on the world of its source...

Terminator Salvation, Terminator Genisys, and Terminator: Dark Fate were all supposed to be the first entry in a new trilogy of Terminator movies. Each time, the trilogy plans had to be scrapped due to disappointing box office. But the Terminator franchise isn’t over yet. Terminator: The Anime Series will be reaching the Netflix streaming service sometime in the near future – and while we look forward to seeing how that’s going to turn out, Terminator Salvation director McG is looking forward to the day when he’ll be able to share his darker cut of the movie.
Speaking with ComicBook.com while doing the press rounds for his new movie Family Switch, which will be available to watch on Netflix later this week, McG said, “We tried hard. On that one, we brought in Jonah Nolan to write it, there was a writers’ strike back then. Brought in Christian Bale,...

Terminator: Salvation had so much potential when it hit theaters in 2009. Instead of following the T-800’s story or undoing the bleak ending to Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines, Salvation boasted a new story that finally gave us the heroic John Connor who has been promised since the first movie in 1984. With writing support from Jonathan Nolan and starring Christian Bale, both of whom had just made the mega-smash The Dark Knight, and co-starring Anton Yelchin as Kyle Reese, with then-up-and-coming Sam Worthington as cyborg Marcus Wright, Salvation seemed like the rare prequel that could effectively stand alongside the later films.
So, what went wrong? While Bale might say it has something to do with a production assistant messing up lighting, Salvation director McG recently offered his own thoughts. “We got so close to nailing that thing right,” McG told The Hollywood Reporter. “I got a lot right in...

It was announced today that principal photography has officially begun in Albuquerque, New Mexico on Warner Bros. Pictures' "Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins", which is being directed by McG. In the press release we learned of some new casting, alongside Christian Bale as John Connor. The film also stars Anton Yelchin as Kyle Reese, Charlotte Gainsbourg as Kate Connor, Moon Bloodgood as Blair Williams, Common as Barnes, and Jadagrace as Star. Although there's nothing there just yet, the official website has been launched. In the highly anticipated new installment of The Terminator film franchise, set in post-apocalyptic 2018, Christian Bale stars as John Connor, the man fated to lead the human resistance against Skynet and its army of Terminators. But the future Connor was raised to believe in is altered in part by the appearance of Marcus Wright (Sam Worthington), a stranger whose last memory is of being on death row.
