One of the most anticipated and hottest films of 2024 is finally here. We are talking about Zendaya‘s Challengers which was memed to death for a threesome scene that was shown in the trailer but if you have seen the film then you know that the brilliance of the film is much more than that one scene. Directed by Call Me By Your Name‘s Luca Guadagnino from a screenplay by Justin Kuritzkes, the sports romantic drama follows the story of a talented tennis player Tashi, and her twisted relationship with two tennis players, one of whom is her husband now. Challengers stars Zendaya, Mike Faist, and Josh O’Connor in the lead role with Jordan Thompson, Faith Fay, Hailey Gates, and Tierre Diaz starring in supporting roles. So, if you loved the story of ambition and toxic relationships in Challengers you should check out these films with similar themes next.

This article will contain some spoilers for Challengers, so reader beware if you haven’t seen Luca Guadagnino’s new film…
Tennis isn’t for everyone – some people just want their Spidey fix. That’s what happens in one scene of Luca Guadagnino’s Challengers, where the daughter of Tashi (Zendaya) and Art (Mike Faist) asks to watch a Spider-Verse movie instead of tennis. But as the director explains, it wasn’t meant to be directly linked to Zendaya’s own Spider-Man movies.
As Guadagnino told Entertainment Weekly, those thinking that Spider-Verse moment in Challengers was an intentional easter egg are mistaken, as it was really just out of circumstances. “When you get rights for something to be used in a movie, it’s very complicated. Amy Pascal, our amazing producer, was of help there. I said, ‘Amy, can we use one of your catalog titles so it’s going...

The main commencement ceremony at the University of Southern California has been cancelled. The decision comes just over a week after the university canceled plans for a graduation speech by the class of 2024 valedictorian, Asna Tabassum, who was criticized by pro-Israel groups for supporting Palestine on social media. USC will host individual school ceremonies as scheduled, but will implement additional security measures following protests and arrests made on campus.

Citing safety concerns following escalating protests, USC announced today it has canceled the “main stage” commencement ceremony that had been planned for May 10 and will require tickets for people to attend any other commencement activities.
The university will continue to hold “dozens” of smaller commencement events, including the individual school ceremonies — such as that for the School of Cinematic Arts — in which graduates are announced and walk across the stage to receive their diplomas.
“To ensure we host commencement activities and celebrate our graduates safely, we will be implementing additional security measures,” reads a message from the university. “These include ticketing of all commencement events taking place on May 8-11 and directing all campus access through specific points of entry.”
Details on the ticketing process were expected to be posted online by Tuesday.
The announcement came one day after nearly 100 people were arrested on campus following a daylong “occupation” by pro-Palestinian protesters in Alumni Park,...

With Zendaya’s new tennis movie, Challengers, dropping on Friday, fans couldn’t help but notice the Peter Parker lovers to tennis players pipeline of the three Spider-Man actresses. Zendaya’s role as a tennis player in Challengers follows Kirsten Dunst’s Lizzie Bradbury in Wimbledon and Emma Stone’s Billie Jean King in Battle of the Sexes. However, fans find that tennis is not the only thing common between them, as all three of them dated their Spider-Man co-stars.
Zendaya in Challengers
Zendaya and Tom Holland’s relationship is still going strong despite the breakup rumors. They were spotted together at the Dune: Part Two celebration event. Their relationship has probably run longer than the other two pairs’ short-lived relationships put together.

Game, set… but there’s not much of a match. “Challengers,” a steamy tennis drama starring Zendaya and directed by Luca Guadagnino, is poised to lead the domestic box office without much in the way of competition.
The film, from Amazon MGM, is projected to collect $12 million to $15 million from 3,400 North American theaters in its opening weekend. Although those are modest projections for any nationwide release, it’s this weekend’s only major new movie and shouldn’t have trouble claiming first place from A24’s “Civil War,” the reigning champion. Last weekend, “Civil War” topped the box office for the second consecutive frame with $11.1 million and has grossed $70 million globally to date. Overall, the domestic box office is 20% behind the same point in 2023, according to Comscore.

On June 20, 2022, Mike Faist and Josh O’Connor sat at the edge of a motel bed on either side of Zendaya, kissing, licking and biting her neck. As Art and Patrick, their respective “Challengers” characters, they were desperate for more of Tashi, played by Zendaya, and desperate to mask their desperation.
Zendaya’s mind was elsewhere. “The only reason I really remember is because Beyoncé came out with ‘Break My Soul’ that day,” she said. “I was having a great day, like, ‘Y’all. Beyoncé’s single just dropped.’ That’s what I was focused on, to be honest.”
“We lost Zendaya for like a week,” O’Connor recalls. “She was on set, normal, chatting with us. Then one day Beyoncé released something. They called ‘cut,’ and she immediately had headphones in. She was completely lost to the world.”

The home shopping stalwart steered is introducing “The Age of Possibility” marketing and programming campaign highlighting female celebrities and leaders age 50 and over who are demonstrating the third act that modern women are experiencing.
The list includes such boldface names as Martha Stewart, Queen Latifah, Naomi Watts, Christina Applegate, Billie Jean King, Patti Labelle and Sherri Shepherd and prominent executives such as Dentsu’s Diane Epstein and Liberty Media’s Renee Wilm. Hollywood casting can be a fickle thing. But for actresses who’ve graced the silver screen as Spider-Man’s love interest, there seems to be a recurring theme – a hidden talent for tennis!
A still from Spider-Man
Believe it or not, all three actresses—Kirsten Dunst, Emma Stone, and Zendaya—who have portrayed Spider-Man’s love interest on the big screen share a surprising connection to the world of tennis.
It’s not merely a coincidence; each of them has actually portrayed a tennis player in different movies, following their roles in Spider-Man flicks.
Spider-Man Actresses Have Unexpected Tennis Connection
The first connection in this web of coincidence takes us back to 2004’s romantic comedy Wimbledon. Kirsten Dunst, who famously portrayed Mary Jane Watson in Sam Raimi‘s Spider-Man trilogy, took on the role of Lizzie Bradbury, a determined young tennis player on the verge of success.

Fifteen minutes into the debut episode of Julia Louis-Dreyfus’s podcast, the power is knocked out by a bomb cyclone. Her guest, Jane Fonda, continues speaking, unaware the connection is lost, and Louis-Dreyfus frantically attempts to reconnect, amid a few choice swear words and a blaring home alarm.
Rather than edit it out, Louis-Dreyfus saw it as an asset and kept it in the episode: “It’s just funny. So, I figured why not? Let’s include it. Everybody can relate too. I was so tense.”
The Veep and Seinfeld star was inspired to create Wiser Than Me after watching the 2018 documentary Jane Fonda in Five Acts and reflecting that older women, despite having cultivated decades of wisdom, are rarely heard from. In each episode of the podcast, Louis-Dreyfus asks guests, including Diane von Furstenberg, Isabel Allende and Carol Burnett, about their careers and relationships, as well as their views on sex,...

National Geographic has greenlit “Sally,” a new documentary about Dr. Sally Ride, the first American woman to go to space in more than 40 years ago, the network announced Thursday at the Television Critics Association winter press tour.
From director director Cristina Costantini (“Science Fair”) and producers Dan Cogan (“Icarus”) and Lauren Cioffi (“Naomi Osaka”), the film will delve into the life of the groundbreaking astronaut and the sexism she faced as one of very few women in space exploration at the time. “Sally” (working title) will feature never-before-seen archival footage in space and on the ground, along with interviews with Ride’s fellow astronauts Anna Lee Fisher and Kathy Sullivan, friend (and one-time tennis opponent) Billie Jean King, and her life partner Tam O’Shaughnessy, the last of whom also serves as executive producer.

Retired Australian tennis player Nicole Pratt has lavished praise on Coco Gauff for her eloquence during Wta's 50th-anniversary celebrations in September.
Gauff, one of the only recognizable members from the current roster who attended that night, was given the stage to deliver a speech. The 19-year-old kept her composure and displayed maturity beyond her years, as Pratt said during an episode of the Ao Show podcast.
Gauff appreciated the blueprint laid out by her predecessors, including Wta trailblazer Billie Jean King and seven-time Grand Slam singles champion Venus Williams, who have used their voice to ensure women are respected and rewarded just like male players.
The young American sensation also mentioned her childhood idol, Serena Williams, who set the pathway for her to realize her dream. Reflecting on Gauff's speech, Pratt was left in awe and opined that the Atlanta native is shaping to be a great role model for young women.

Mirra Andreeva unexpectedly found herself in the "Battle of Sexes" match at the 2023 Négométal Open de Bourg-de-Péage.
In 1970s, the term "Battle of the Sexes" was very popular, when Bobby Riggs took on Margaret Court, who he beat 6-2, 6-1, before losing to Billie Jean King 4-6, 3-6, 3-6.
In 1992, Jimmy Connors and Martina Navratilova played in another Battle of the Sexes, with Connors winning the match 7-5, 6-2, and since then, fans were waiting for another match between a player competing on the Wta Tour and the Atp Tour.
And now, on December 17th, 2023, it happened. 16-year-old teenage prodigy, Mirra Andreeva, is competing at the off-season tournament in France, 2023 Négométal Open de Bourg-de-Péage at Complexe Vercors in Bourg-de-Péage, France.

Iga Swiatek missed this year's Billie Jean King Cup Finals, and she didn't feel much when criticism from her home country came because of it.
Swiatek is a proud Polish woman who loves her country and wants to play for it anytime she can. The problem is that she can't really do that because of the way her career turned out and what the schedule looks like.
For example, she's missed a few Billie Jean King Cup Finals because she was busy playing the Wta Finals the week before. It's simply not advisable for her to push herself so much and play two big events back-to-back, especially with travels and everything else.
It's something she wants to see change in the future because she truly wants to play for her country but nothing changed as of now. The Wta No. 1 missing the event is a bad look, which Billie Jean King herself criticized.

Elina Svitolina endured a pretty tough 2022 year with the war back home in Ukraine and her pregnancy, but she came out on top with a spectacular 2023 season.
Svitolina skipped much of last year's season due to her pregnancy, but it was also a very challenging time with the situation back home. She remained quite active in support of her country, working with many organizations to raise funds for people in Ukraine.
When she returned to the courts this year, Svitolina played with a lot of passion. She became just one of many mothers who impressed many with their level upon returning, but more than that, she was playing for people back home.
Even now, ahead of 2024, Svitolina considers herself on a mission. In a talk with Forbes, she talked about playing for people back home.

Iga Swiatek has been a longtime critic of the Wta calendar and is not particularly impressed with the 2024 version either.

She even held talks with the organizations to try and see whether another solution was possible. The closeness of these competitions is at the root of why she skipped over the competition multiple times, leading to a backlash from both home and media abroad.

"Aquaman: The Lost Kingdom" isn't hitting theaters until December, but "Saturday Night Live" took full advantage of getting franchise star Jason Momoa to host the show before he gets super busy on the international publicity tour. Momoa first hosted "SNL" back in 2018 before the release of the first "Aquaman" movie, and it was a pretty decent episode that happened just before Christmas, giving us a new holiday favorite with Momoa as a member of Santa's Elf on the Shelf team.
Sadly, this new "SNL" episode taking us into Thanksgiving week wasn't nearly as good. Strangely enough, this felt more like it was Momoa's first time hosting rather than his second trip to Studio 8H in 30 Rockefeller Plaza. While there are a couple of standout sketches, many were subpar, a couple squandered great premises, and some were just plain bad.
So let's dig into the highlights from Jason Momoa's second time hosting "Saturday Night Live.

Before Billie Jean King defeated Bobby Riggs, there was another Battle of the Sexes. At least, that’s what happened in Saturday Night Live‘s revisionist history.
In the vein of Netflix’s Untold series, the November 18 sketch tells the story of another tennis matchup between female player Charna Lee Diamond and male opponent Ronnie Dunster (played by host Jason Momoa).
“There’d be no Billie without Charna,” one sports journalist ponders. “There just wouldn’t be.”
Once they take the court, it doesn’t take long for things to go awry. Ronnie serves the ball, sending it flying straight through Charna’s abdomen. Literally. There is now a hole in her stomach. Adrenaline keeps her going, and she demands Ronnie serve the ball again.
He’s reluctant, but Charna insists. It’s for women, after all! So, he serves the ball once more. Only this time, it decapitates her.

“The Masked Singer” celebrated songs that were once all the rage on Wednesday, November 8 with its “One Hit Wonders Night” episode on Fox. Four mystery celebrities sang their hearts out, but it was Hibiscus who wilted after her performance of “It’s Raining Men” by The Weather Girls. The fiery flower removed her mask to reveal “The Real Housewives of New York City” star and Luann de Lesseps.
