I have to say that in my opinion there were some very questionable choices made in last weeks lip-sync LALAPaRuza challenge. That fact that Antrea went from one of the greatest lip-sync performances in the first round against the powerhouse that is Sasha Colby only to end up all the way down to the bottom three is totally absurd. If it was up to me I would have given both Sasha and Antrea the win as the talent on display during this performance was overwhelming! What is even crazier however is the fact that when Antrea was granted the opportunity to automatically save one of her fellow queens from the final battle she opted to save the weakest performer in the competition, Spice. While I totally understand the idea of respect and artist integrity, I would have chosen to battle against Spice as it would have been an easy win.

Rey Ortiz was laid off toward the beginning of the Covid pandemic. At the time, he was working at a furniture and appliance store in L.A. selling toilets — yes, toilets — during the day while sewing designs at night. Many of those designs weren’t for any person in particular, just the results of his sometimes overactive mind. But a selection were for contestants on RuPaul’s Drag Race. In May 2020, on his birthday, he was let go from the shop.
“And I can honestly say my phone hasn’t stopped ringing since,” Ortiz says. The designer now counts Lizzo, Latto, Mary J. Richard (Haylock) is a teacher from New York City, who finally lands a job in small town Texas. He makes no attempt to hide his gay orientation, which forces the vice principal (Rachel Dratch) to fire him. But the story does not end there. Through comedy special Bianca Del Rio’s Rolodex of Hate, short film Darby Forever, and upcoming web series The Outs (which will premiere on March 30th), Vimeo has cobbled together its first full slate of original programming. Now, at South By Southwest, the online video platform has added to its library. It has announced a second round of original programming, including contributions from Jake and Amir, Garfunkel and Oates, and other notable content creators.
Jake and Amir, a comedy duo consisting of Jake Hurwitz and Amir Blumenfield, are best known for their work with CollegeHumor, and while much of that work has been distributed on YouTube, some of it has showed up on Vimeo as well. The duo’s upcoming series will be titled Lonely and Horny, and it will star Blumenfeld as a thirty-something with sex on his mind. Lonely and Horny will serve as Jake and Amir’s...

It’s been an exciting week for Vimeo. The online video platform, which has recently showed an increasing appetite for original content, released the comedy special Bianca Del Rio’s Rolodex of Hate on December 2nd. A day later, it announced the launch of adaptive bitrates on its streaming videos, with the option to go as high as 4K resolution.
Rolodex of Hate comes from Del Rio, a drag queen who rose to fame after winning the sixth season of the reality TV show RuPaul’s Drag Race. Over the course of her hour-long special, which costs $7.99 to rent and $12.99 to own, she dishes out “her own brand of insult comedy,” according to a press release from Vimeo. While the online platform has served as a home for other comedy specials (including an upcoming one from Elliott Morgan), Rolodex of Hate is one of three original projects it plans to...

In 2014, Vimeo announced that High Maintenance, a smoky web series regarded as one of the Internet’s best, would be the platform’s first ever original series. Vimeo agreed to finance six new episodes of High Maintenance and delivered on that promise a few months later.
Now, a year on from the start of its original programming experiment, Vimeo is taking a huge step forward. It has announced its first ever “slate” of originals, one that includes a new season of acclaimed indie series The Outs, a short film from Saturday Night Live cast member Aidy Bryant, and a stand-up special starring acerbic drag queen Bianca Del Rio.
The three projects in Vimeo’s new originals slate took very different paths to get there. The Outs, like High Maintenance, got its start as an exemplary indie web series (one that happened to use the Vimeo player). Creator Adam Goldman has helmed several well-received projects,...

The tepid seventh season of "RuPaul's Drag Race" came to a close last night in decadent fashion. The three finalists, Ginger Minj, Pearl, and Violet Chachki sashayed for Ru's final blessing. Who won? Check below. We'll tell you why it's annoying. Though Ginger Minj was the favorite going into the finale thanks to her wild showmanship and electrifying impersonation of Adele, the crown went to Violet Chachki. Take a look at her season highlight reel. In seasons past, contestants won "RuPaul's Drag Race" for exhibiting a range of charismatic traits. Season six winner Bianca Del Rio was snide, ferocious, and whip-smart. Season five winner Jinkx Monsoon was kooky, kitschy, and slyly carnal. Violet Chachki, meanwhile, is certainly a glamorous and compelling stage-walker, but she's exhibited none of the comic verve that has made so many other notable contestants (Sharon Needles, Alaska, Adore Delano, Willam) such indelible characters. In fact, Violet...

Starbucks' latest commercial features two of our absolute favorite drag queens from RuPaul's Drag Race! In the coffee chains' first Lgbt ad, Drag Race season six winner Bianca Del Rio and season six runner-up Adore Delano star as "coffee frenemies." The video clip starts out with Adore talking to someone on the phone about her busy work schedule. "So that's a 7 p.m. interview, an 8 p.m. cruise and a 9 p.m. show in front of five thousand fans. That's a stressful schedule, girl," Adore says. "I need a coffee!" That's when Adore spots a nearby Starbucks store. She heads inside and asks several customers waiting in line if she can cut. Starbucks, which can definitely count itself as one of the most gay-friendly corporations, just released its first Lgbt-centric commercial. The stars are the two undisputed queens of "RuPaul's Drag Race" season six, winner Bianca Del Rio and runner-up Adore Delano (a.k.a. Danny Noriega, who was also a semifinalist on "American Idol"). The queens need their caffeine and fight over who deserves their coffee first. It's precious. I only wish the barista would've made them lip-sync for their lives.

The 40th Annual Seattle Pride Parade was this past Sunday and featured Grand Marshal George “O My!” Takei as well as announcer Brian Daniel Peters in his drag queen persona Mama Tits. Mama hosts Seattle’s long-running weekly drag brunch show called “Mimosas with Mama” and clearly that experience has made her quick on her feet and adept at transfixing a crowd.
This year’s Pride event attracted a number of anti-gay “religious” protesters spewing their bullsh*t with signs and a megaphone. They probably weren’t ready for a towering drag queen who knew the bible far better than they did and read them for the hypocrites they are. Bianca Del Rio herself couldn’t have done better.
Here’s a video of the moment. Really makes you wish you’d been there.

Happy 39th birthday to one of the funniest reality TV contestants of all time, "RuPaul's Drag Race" season six champ Bianca Del Rio. The queen has the no-nonsense attitude of Judge Judy, the stank side-eye of Marla Gibbs, and enough lightning-quick wit to zap the bourbon out of Dorothy Parker's hand. With the possible exception of Bianca's runner-up Adore Delano, it's safe to say Bianca is the funniest queen in the show's history. While season four standout Willam was extremely clever, he lacked a certain empathy with his fellow players. Season two Carol Channing idolator Pandora Boxx was a pure joy, but her kookiness was more quaint than exhilarating. And season five winner Jinkx Monsoon had the comic chops, but her talents were reserved mostly for character roles. Bianca is all of the above, and she manages to be both savage and sympathetic with everything she says. A true...

James Franco bared his rump for a good cause on Sunday night, when he was stripped by drag queen Bianca Del Rio during Broadway Bares: Rock Hard, the Great White Way's skin-baring event to raise money for AIDS research and education. During a skit, James - who stars in Of Mice and Men on Broadway - got sassed by Bianca and pulled the "do you know who I am?" card on her. She responded by saying she needed to do a "background check," which involved him dropping his trousers. Needless to say, the sight of James's bum was met with more than a few cheers from the audience. Watch the whole exchange above.
