Rock’n’roll musicians have a habit of thinking of themselves like secular gods, but the truth is they’re not infallible. No matter how successful a band may or may not have been in the past, there’s never any guarantee their next record will live up to the heights they’ve previously scaled. Sometimes, everything that once went right just all goes wrong.
There are often extenuating circumstances, of course. Band members may leave due to death, drugs or just good old-fashioned “musical differences”, or an ambitious new direction may turn out to be more like a swerve into oncoming traffic.
Whatever the cause, the fact remains that just because an album has the name of a classic band slapped across the cover, it doesn’t necessarily follow that the album itself will be a classic.

Netflix has released a full trailer for their upcoming animated series Stretch Armstrong and The Flex Fighters. The series was inspired by the classic late 70's-early 80's action figure that kids could stretch. The series has a very different kind of tone and vibe as the original toy, but it looks like a fun series that the kids will enjoy.
The story follows a high school student named Jake Armstrong and his two best friends Nathan Park and Ricardo Perez and they are accidentally exposed to an experimental chemical that forever changes their lives. They are transformed into unlikely heroes who embark on a series of adventures.
Stephen Davis, Chief Content Officer and Executive Vice President, Hasbro Inc. previously had this to say in a statement:

Netflix has released the first teaser trailer for Hasbro's upcoming animated series Stretch Armstrong and the Freedom Fighters. The series was inspired by the classic stretchable action figure from the late 70's-early 80's. I had one of the toys when I was a kid, and although the first part of the trailer touches on that classic toy, this series is going to be something very different. It's a series that looks like it could be fun for the kids. Watch the trailer and you'll see what I mean.

I'm sure some of you remember the classic Hasbro toy Stretch Armstrong, which first came out in the late 70s. I remember having one of the toys when I was growing up in the 80s. It was a toy of a superhero that could stretch. At one point, Hasbro was looking at adapting Stretch Armstrong into a feature film and Taylor Lautner was attached to star. Thankfully that didn't happen.
Instead, Hasbro opted to adapt the toy into an animated series called Stretch Armstrong and the Flex Fighters and that series is coming to Netflix.

"Goosebumps" and "Monsters vs. Aliens" director Rob Letterman is reportedly being lined up to direct the long-in-development new "Dungeons & Dragons" film at Warner Bros. Pictures.
The big-budget fantasy, based on the iconic role-playing game, boasts a script penned by "Wrath of the Titans" scribe David Leslie Jones.
Self-proclaimed D&D fan Vin Diesel has previously been rumored for the movie about a warrior and his band of mystical creatures – including a half-dragon and a cunning gnome – as they embark on a dangerous journey to find a mythical treasure.
Roy Lee, Allan Zeman, Brian Goldner, Stephen Davis and Courtney Solomon will produce. The property was adapted for the small screen as an animated television series in 1983 and a much-maligned live-action film in 2000.

Lending a new lease of life to Warner Bros.’ long-in-development Dungeons & Dragons movie today is Rob Letterman who, according to The Tracking Board, is in line to helm the big-budget fantasy feature.
Best known for Monsters vs. Aliens, Shark Tale and, more recently, Goosebumps for Warner, Letterman will reportedly steer the iconic role-playing game onto the silver screen, via a script penned by Wrath of the Titans scribe David Leslie Jones.
Boasting a legacy that stretches all the way back to the mid-70s, few media franchises hold a candle to Gary Gygax and Dave Arneson’s Dungeons & Dragons. In its meandering path to theaters, Warner has cited both J.R.R. Tolkien and James Gunn’s rip-roaring space opera Guardians of the Galaxy as cinematic touchstones.

Jem and the Holograms may go down in movie history as one of the craziest things to have ever happened, but not for the simple reason that it doesn’t seem like it’s going to be a great film. The film is about to hit (October 23), and no one seems to be making a truly concerted effort to let you know.
Back when the film was announced, and subsequently when casting info came out, the ’80s were on people’s lips, and a lot of retro everything was hot. That trend has died out, and not that many people took to Jem anyway. Jon M. Chu was somewhat hot at the time too, as the man behind The Lxd, and a couple of Step Up titles was attached to G.I. Joe: Retaliation, and uhh… ’80s cartoons, right?

Eager to turn the train around in time for release, Universal has pumped out a catalogue of clips – and a new poster – for its soon-to-be-released adaptation of Jem and the Holograms.
Inspired by the 80s cartoon series of the same name, the studio all but kicked the hornets’ nest earlier this year after revealing a debut trailer that was less than impressive. Since then, production company Blumhouse has assured us that Jon M. Chu’s live-action flick is actually “a great movie,” though today’s barrage of teasers doesn’t necessarily dispel our lingering doubt.
Following the rags-to-superstardom tale of Aubrey Peeples’ title character, the movie documents her humble beginnings as a budding singer operating with little more than a webcam and a shoddy microphone, to one of the hottest pop artists on the planet. With Marvel Studios and Warner Bros. planing to keep churning out super hero movies for the next decade or so, it looks like the heroes of both cinematic universes will have some company, with Hasbro Studio’s president Stephen Davis announcing their plans at the MIPJunior conference (via TFW2005) in Cannes to continue the Transformers franchise through to 2025. As well as the already announced Transformers 5 and an animated origin movie, Davis revealed that Hasbro’s Writer’s Room, which includes Akiva Goldsman (Angels and Demons), Robert Kirkman (creator of The Walking Dead comic book), Jeff Pinker (Fringe, Lost), Zak Penn (The Incredible Hulk), and Steven DeKinght (showrunner on Netflix’s Daredevil), has generated ideas for parts 6,7, and 8 of the franchise. No-one was impressed by the first Jem and The Holograms trailer, as fans complained about the liberties taken with their beloved animated series. The trouble all stems from adapting an ’80s cartoon into a 2015 live-action movie, as any variation from the source material was bound to ruffle feathers. With the arrival of a new trailer though, could those preconceptions finally be smashed?

Georginio Wijnaldum was denied a dream debut as Southampton came from behind to break Newcastle United hearts and draw 2-2 at St James’ Park.
Steve McClaren’s first game in charge of the Magpies in the Barclays Premier League was a very-entertaining affair, but unfortunately his side could only deliver him a point.
All-too-familiar defensive deficiencies saw Newcastle concede from a Graziano Pelle header, before goals from Papiss Cisse and debutant Wijnaldum put the Magpies in front. However, 10 minutes from the end, Shane Long again exploited the Magpies’ poor defence to nod in a Saints equaliser and rob both Wijnaldum and McClaren of a victory on their respective Newcastle bows.

Who would you rather play for if you were a professional footballer? Newcastle United or Southampton?
The Magpies offers a chance to play in front of 52,000 adoring fans, wear the famous black-and-white stripes and join the Mike Ashley rollercoaster ride that doesn’t tend to slow down. Southampton can give you the opportunity to work with one of the finest midfielders ever to have played the game (Ronald Koeman… not Steven Davis), play European football and have Graziano Pelle as your wingman.
Tough call? It’s remarkable to think that Southampton were playing League One football in 2010 and now they’re a more prosperous employer than Newcastle. The Saints are strong favourites to win the first match of the 2015-16 Barclays Premier League season against the Magpies this Sunday (1.30pm kick-off) and continue to build on their seventh-place finish last year.

Almost a year after final arguments in a protracted lawsuit over the rights to the franchise, Warner Bros. Pictures has announced that everything is resolved and they are proceeding with the making of a new "Dungeons and Dragons" movie.
In a statement, WB Pictures Creative Development and Worldwide Production boss Greg Silverman says: "We are so excited about bringing the world of Dungeons & Dragons to life on the big screen. Though no director is yet attached, David Leslie Johnson ("The Conjuring 2," "Wrath of the Titans") has written a script while Roy Lee, Brian Goldner, Stephen Davis, Courtney Solomon and Allan Zeman will produce.

Every generation needs a voice, and Universal Pictures is hoping that this particular voice can bridge the generation gap. Jem and the Holograms – Jem, Kimber, Aja, and Shana – are back in a new film called simply Jem and the Holograms. The new trailer has been released and it looks like it could be a fairly entertaining interpretation of the animated series. But, judge for yourself.
About The Film:
Jem And The Holograms: As a small-town girl catapults from underground video sensation to global superstar, she and her three sisters begin a one-in-a-million journey of discovering that some talents are too special to keep hidden. Yesterday saw a fuzzy, scanned image from Jon M. Chu’s Jem And The Holograms hit the web after an eager-eyed fan spotted it in the latest Elle. In an attempt to keep things totally outrageous, or something, Universal Pictures has now dropped a higher quality version of that same image along with a brand new synopsis.
Based on the Hasbro animated TV series, which was a huge success back in the 80s, Jem And The Holograms steps it up by dragging the rocker chick into the modern age. In her latest adventure, the songstress – and her trio of holograms – will find success after one of their songs becomes a viral hit, presumably on YouTube.
For this live-action iteration, a new cast of humans will be rockin’ out, including Aubrey Peeples, Stefanie Scott, Aurora Perrineau and Hayley Kiyoko as the leading quartet. Ryan Guzman, Molly Ringwald and Juliette Lewis are...

Stephen Davis has always been an easy target for schoolyard bullies. The 15-year-old freshman at Streamwood High School in Elgin, Illinois, has been the brunt of cruel jokes and pranks since he was in first grade. At 330 lbs., he's often ridiculed for his size. "I'm big," Davis told CBS Chicago. "I get bullied a lot during the school day. I shake it off. Basically, it's background noise to me." Off the back of being named September’s Manager of the Month on Friday, Ronald Koeman guided Southampton to their biggest ever win in the top flight, as Saints beat Sunderland 8-0 this weekend.
Southampton, who last won by the same scoreline against Northampton Town in the Third Division South way back in December 1921, now become only the fifth team since the inception of the Premier League to win by at least an eight goal margin. They follow Manchester United’s 9-0 win over Ipswich in 1995, along with Newcastle, Tottenham and Chelsea who have all won by eight in the last two decades.
Koeman had described Sunderland as “strong opponents with a good defence” in the build up to the game, while after the match he told the press that: “I was not happy with how we started the game. Sunderland was the dominant team”.

Bryan Cogman, a producer, story editor and writer on HBO's "Game of Thrones", has been set to script a potential franchise launching film based on the fantasy card game "Magic The Gathering" at 20th Century Fox and Hasbro.
First introduced in 1993, the role-playing fantasy game became the forerunner of a growing card game movement.

Simon Kinberg, Brian Goldner and Stephen Davis will produce.

A lone second-half strike from Adam Lallana helped the Saints to a vital Premier League victory at St Mary’s Stadium.
It was only the second win in 10 games for the Saints, a run that has seen their early high position slip in the table.
However, 25-year old English international midfielder Lallana has been a revelation for the Saints this term, and his 66th minute strike after a cross from Gaston Ramirez ensured a much-deserved home victory for the Southerners.
Artur Boruc had a relatively quiet game in goal, but he was called on to make a vital save from Irish international Shane Long in the dying minutes.
Southampton dominated much of the game, but it’s their on-target count that will worry boss Mauricio Pochettino; just 5 of 18 efforts on target.

Chelsea travel to European hopefuls Southampton on New Year’s Day knowing their hosts have only one Premier League win in their last five against the Blues on the South Coast.
That solitary victory for the Saints since 2000 came in March in an all-English scoring affair. Jay Rodriguez and Rickie Lambert were on target at St Marys with Chelsea only briefly level through John Terry under interim boss Rafa Benitez.
Mauricio Pochettino’s team have only picked up one point from the last nine available on home turf and five throughout December. The reverse fixture exactly one month before this second meeting of the season saw Southampton lead early – again through Rodriguez – but then succumb to second half Blues goals from Gary Cahill, Terry and Demba Ba.
Such a lean festive season has seen the Saints slip to ninth place in the table and as many points off the European places.

A Jay Rodriguez goal helped clawed back a point for Southampton against Newcastle in a bad-tempered match at St. James’ Park packed with incident.
Yoan Gouffran earlier notched his fifth goal of the season before the Saints drew level, and as tempers frayed there was a bizarre injury to the referee and a brawl in the dug-out.
The hosts were first to threaten after just five minutes as full-back Mathieu Debuchy took the ball on the volley and rocketed an edge-of-the-box howitzer past the onlooking Andrea Gazzaniga’s left post.
And six minutes later Newcastle continued their early pressing – with the Saints defence dug in on the goal-line after a goalmouth scramble, Loic Remy found his open-goal attempt blocked.
The visitors mustered their first effort on target just after the quarter-hour mark, as young midfielder James Ward-Prowse attempted a tame shot from distance, easily gathered by Tim Krul.

With England’s place at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil confirmed national coach Roy Hodgson can now begin to assess his options. There were few surprises in the squad announced to face Chile and Germany in Wembley friendlies.
Southampton pair Adam Lallana and Jay Rodriguez, 25 and 24 respectively, earned deserved call-ups as the Saints continue to fly high under Argentine coach Mauricio Pochettino. The Three Lions roster is getting an increasingly younger flavour through regular inclusions of defenders Kyle Walker, Chris Smalling and Phil Jones among others.
Everton starlet Ross Barkley and Spurs winger Andros Townsend have also broken into the squad this season. They join a recalled Jordan Henderson and forwards Danny Welbeck and Daniel Sturridge – all being well – on international duty over the next couple of weeks.
Hodgson has already shown he is prepared to place his faith in youth, but the usual suspects still remain.

Southampton kicked things off at a sunny White Hart Lane in what was a crucial game in Spurs’ hunt for Champions League football, as a 1-0 victory put them above Arsenal – albeit potentially temporarily – who kicked off later.
A tentative start from both teams saw a series of long balls being played back and forth to no immediate avail, culminating in Adam Lallana sending an early free kick floating disappointingly over Hugo Lloris’ bar in the third minute.
On the five minute mark, a good run in to the box from Jermain Defoe ended with the England man shooting viciously in to Artur Boruc’s side netting from eight yards.
For the next few minutes, Spurs really dominated possession – particularly in the midfield area – without really threatening, but it was Southampton who almost took the lead in the eleventh minute. Rickie Lambert took advantage of Tottenham’s high defensive line,...

The Movie Pool rolls out for the Transformers Prime: Season Two Blu-ray set!
This review is based on the 4-disc Blu-ray set
The Set-up
Season two of the epic Hub TV show focuses on the battle between rival factions of an alien race of robots known as Transformers. Optimus Prime and the heroic Autobots take on Megatron and the evil Decepticons. Includes all 26 episodes of the second season.
The Delivery
There have been so many incarnations of Transformers over the years, but Generation One, the original series, still holds a special place in the hearts of hard core fans. Transformers Prime, however, may eventually become the definitive version of the brand. Combining the best aspects of the original 1980s animated series (including the voices of Peter Cullen as Optimus Prime and Frank Welker as Megatron) with the look and music cues of the modern films, Transformers Prime is a...

Manchester City won a tough match against promoted Southampton, fighting back from 2-1 down to win the match 3-2 in the Premier League this afternoon. Goals from Carlos Tevez, Eden Dzeko and Samir Nasri were enough to see off the visitors, who scored through substitutes Rickie Lambert and Steven Davis.
City gave a debut to summer signing Jack Rodwell, and Joe Hart returned in goal, while Southampton handed a league debut to seventeen year old James Ward-Prowse, plus Saints debuts for Jay Rodriguez and Nathaniel Clyne.
Southampton started off the better team and showed composure in possession. After Sergio Aguero was carried off injured after a tackle from Clyne, City reacted and won a penalty when Carlos Tevez was fouled by Hooiveld after a lovely through ball flick from Samir Nasri. David Silva’s tame penalty was saved, however, and Southampton were at the very least City’s equals in the first half hour.

Sunday’s late kick-off sees promoted Southampton travel to face defending champions Manchester City. In terms of opening games, it does not get much tougher than this for the new boys and City showed last weekend in the Community Shield that they are packed full of firepower.
In a way, this is the perfect game to start off Southampton’s season. The Saints will travel to Eastlands with no pressure, and their players will find out what standard they will be required to meet if they want their stay in the Premiership to be more than fleeting.
Roberto Mancini’s side will not know what tactics they will be up against, although Nigel Adkins has throughout his short managerial career asked his teams to play good, attractive football. With Rickie Lambert leading the line they also have a physical presence, but how well the former Bristol Rovers striker will do...

Boston — Mark Wahlberg says he's considering a jailhouse meeting with James "Whitey" Bulger, but victim's relatives are criticizing the actor's interest in the reputed former mob boss.
Bulger has reached out to Wahlberg, the actor told Boston's Waaf-fm radio Friday, and he speculated Bulger wants to give him rights to his story.
"He wants me to come down and visit him. Maybe he'll give me the exclusive rights to tell his story, `cause he knows, you know, we can do it better than anybody else," Wahlberg said.
Wahlberg grew up in South Boston, also Bulger's home when he ran a local gang in the `70s, `80s and `90s while working as an FBI informant. Bulger, 82, is accused of participating in 19 murders before fleeing in 1995, allegedly after his FBI handler tipped him that an indictment was coming. He was caught in California last year after 16 years on the run.
