Exclusive: Shameless alum Cameron Monaghan has closed a deal to join Jared Leto and more in Tron: Ares, the third film in the Tron sci-fi franchise from Disney. Details as to Monaghan’s character are under wraps, though the film will follow Leto’s computer program Ares on a journey from the digital world to that of humans.
Directing Tron: Ares is Joachim Rønning (Kon-Tiki), who helmed both Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales and Maleficent: Mistress of Evil for Disney following his breakout with 2012’s Kon-Tiki. Evan Peters, Jodie Turner-Smith and Greta Lee round out the cast of the pic penned by Jesse Wigutow and Jack Thorne, which is reportedly eyeing an August start, should a SAG-AFTRA strike be avoided. Emma Ludbrook, Jeffrey Springer and Leto will produce, with Russell Allen serving as executive producer.

Perhaps best known as Ian Gallagher on the Showtime comedy-drama series “Shameless,” Cameron Monaghan is a bright, shining star who’s currently headlining the drama-thriller “Shattered” with Frank Grillo, Lilly Krug, and John Malkovich. I sat down with Monaghan to talk about the film. “Shattered” is now out in select theaters and video-on-demand. https://youtu.be/UNkf_teLM38

Cameron Monaghan must be a glutton for punishment.
In “Shattered,” the actor plays a wealthy tech guru named Chris who comes to really, really, sincerely regret his fling with the beautiful and mysterious Sky (Lilly Krug). Their meet-cute in the aisle of a supermarket quickly devolves into kidnapping and extortion, with Chris finding himself tied up and brutalized in creatively horrific ways. Think of it as “Fatal Attraction” with buckets of blood.
“Shattered,” which definitely isn’t for the faint of stomach, opens on Jan. 14. Monaghan spoke with Variety about what attracted him to the horror-thriller, working with John Malkovich, and saying goodbye to “Shameless,” the Showtime series on which he memorably played Ian Gallagher, the tough-talking gay man from the wrong side of Chicago who finds happiness with charming delinquent Mickey (Noel Fisher).
Why did you want to make “Shattered”?
“Shattered” came to me pretty late in the process of its development.

The honeymoon phase is officially over for Shameless newlyweds Ian Gallagher and Mickey Milkovich. When the Showtime series’ final season premieres this Sunday (at 9/8c), the couple will be “just exiting” that stage after six months as husband and husband, executive producer John Wells says.
As the pair continue to navigate their new married life, they will find that maybe they’re not on the same page about some big things. “That’s a huge element of what we’re doing this season,” Wells tells TVLine. “It’s easier from a distance, isn’t it, married life? So that’s...

All good things must come to an end. All debauched things too. Which may explain how we’re here, staring at the Great Beyond for the Gallagher Brood of Shameless. Aye, two seasons after Emmy Rossum left the series as one of its ostensible lead characters, Fiona Gallagher, the series itself is resuming production and winding down in the age of Covid. That doesn’t mean it won’t go out swinging and drinking though!
Shameless Season 11 Release Date
The eleventh and final season of Shameless begins on Dec. 4, 2020. Don’t pretend like you will have somewhere better to be!

Shameless’s Gallagher family will gear up for one last season, with Showtime’s renewal for an eleventh and final season.
Shameless Season 11 is officially set, marking a monumental swan song for the veteran Showtime series.
The confirmation of Shameless’s final season was made by Showtime Networks President of Entertainment, Gary Levine, at the Television Critics Association’s Winter Press Tour. With the final frame set, the irreverently-embattled working-class dramedy series – which launched on Showtime on January 9, 2011 – is on track to make the decade mark with its eleventh season. While no official release date was provided for Shameless Season 11, the show typically premieres in the fall, meaning that the final season would presumably spill into 2021. Indeed, the currently-running Season 10 – kicked off back in November 2019 – will round the finish line on January 26.

Despite an emotional, shocking goodbye in the middle of Shameless's ninth season, Cameron Monaghan is indeed returning to the show as his beloved character, Ian Gallagher.
After announcing his exit last year, telling fans that "all good things come to an end," Monaghan has since reversed his decision and will once again be a part of the cast for the Showtime dramedy's 10th season. It's especially exciting news considering the show is already losing its leading lady, Emmy Rossum, so now fans won't have to go without Ian, too.
While appearing at the TV Critics Association press tour to discuss his role on Gotham, Monaghan explained to a room full of reporters what went into his initial decision to leave, as well as why he's decided to come back.
"It got to the point where I wanted to step away for creative reasons as well as business, which many...

Some may claim to have no shame, but premium cable is in a class by itself. Today, Showtime announced it has renewed its Shameless TV show for a tenth season. The renewal comes despite falling ratings and the fact that female lead Emmy Rossum is leaving the series at the end of season nine. In addition, TV Guide reports Cameron Monaghan, who left the dark dramedy during the first half of the ninth, will return as Ian Gallagher for the show's tenth season.
A Showtime original, Shameless follows alcoholic father Frank Gallagher (William H. Macy) and his resilient, self-reliant kids who scramble to survive. The cast also includes Jeremy Allen White, Ethan Cutkosky, Shanola Hampton, Steve Howey, Emma Kenney, Richard Flood, Christian Isaiah, and Scarlet Spencer. Read More…...

It was Showtime's turn at the Television Critics Association winter press tour today, and there were renewals, revivals, and delays.
Let's get the big renewal our of the way:
Shameless has been renewed for Season 10, and there's a catch that fans will surely be happy about.
Cameron Monaghan is returning for the milestone season as Ian Gallagher.
Yes, really!
Fans were up in arms about the character's departure during Shameless Season 9, but given that he got a somewhat happy ending behind bars, this could mean that things are about to go back downhill for him.
Time will tell.
Monaghan joins William H. Macy (aka Frank), Jeremy Allen White (Lip), Ethan Cutkosky (Carl), Emma Kenney (Debbie) and Christian Isaiah (Liam).
Emmy Rossum will not be part of the new season following her decision to leave, and her final episode is slated to air in the coming weeks.

Showtime’s flagship series Shameless officially is returning for a 10th season, with William H. Macy and the rest of the cast coming back, sans Emmy Rossum. Also, Cameron Monaghan — who left the series during Season 9 — will return as Ian Gallagher for the upcoming run.
The announcement was made at the top of Showtime’s TCA presentation today. While Rossum had announced that she would leave the series after the the end of her contract after Season 9, Macy had said that he was wanted to continue as the Gallagher patriarch. He has closed a new deal with producer Warner Bros. TV, as have his co-stars.
Gotham regular Monaghan exited the Showtime series midway through last year as his Ian Gallagher character ended up behind bar. The then seeming end of the long time Shameless character worked out for Ian as he was reunited with his ex-boyfriend Mickey, portrayed by Noel Fisher,...

The Gallaghers are coming back to Showtime for Shameless Season 10, even if Fiona and Ian aren't.
It’s a minor miracle the Gallaghers have managed to stay together for this long. After nine seasons, the Showtime hit is lost two family members, Emmy Rossum (Fiona) and Cameron Monaghan (Ian), but apparently not for too long in the latter's case, as Ian Gallagher will be returning for at least a sizable amount ofd Shameless Season 10, which will carry on without Rossum and with William H. Macy, despite the latter's recent PR woes.
There’s no word yet on the length of Shameless season 10. The first eight seasons consisted of 12 episodes. Season 9 was split into two seven episode runs. The second half of the season is still airing on Sundays. It's set to become the longest-running series in the history of the premium cable network.

Shameless Season 9 is almost over, and things are looking... up? Wow. Thus enters the new trailer for the season finale.
There must be an afterlife, because someone up on a great, fluffy cloud really likes Frank Gallagher. Dangerously so for the members of his community he still is allowed to torment. And as Hurricane Monica is the only person, living or dead, that could still give a damn about the Gallagher of most ill-repute… well you do the math. Thus Gallagher clan continue to see their ever incredulous fortunes rise. How else to explain Showtime renewing Shameless Season 9?! It might be the last year with Emmy Rossum and Cameron Monaghan among the cast, but with still six episodes left, it should make for an extended Irish goodbye!
Here is the trailer and synopsis for the next episode, titled "Found."
