After nearly 35 years, the "Predator" franchise is still going strong. Despite a fair share of disappointment during its seven-film (and counting) run, every decade produces a strong chapter that reinvigorates interest in the mysterious alien hunters. John McTiernan's muscle-bound 1987 creature feature starring Arnold Schwarzenegger remains the best. Still, more recent offerings like Nimród Antal's 2010 sequel "Predators" and Dan Trachtenberg's 2022 prequel "Prey" have closed the gap and provided hope for future entries.
Delightfully R-rated, the "Predator" series follows a group of elite alien warriors, brought to life with incredible special effects, who venture to different planets to test themselves against the best killers they can find. Curiously, none of the films have allowed a Predator to claim victory over their most formidable foes, though they do enjoy minor victories that make way for some nasty spine-ripping action. To date, we've seen Predator eliminate its victims in various ways...

One of the most iconic science fiction action franchises is "Predator," which began with the eponymous movie starring Arnold Schwarzenegger in 1987. While "Predator" is regarded as an action classic, attempts to follow-up on its success have since had considerably more mixed results. The series has seen a number of sequels, revivals, and crossovers with the "Alien" franchise, with varying levels of critical and commercial reception. However, for every "Predator" movie that has seen the light of day, there are plenty of projects that were canceled or altered significantly.
From failed attempts to bring Schwarzenegger back in the fold to star in additional installments or sequel plans shelved by disappointing box office, there are lots of discarded "Predator" movies. This includes the studio shuffling pitches and filmmakers in their hopes to keep the franchise relevant and recapture the 1987 movie's magic. Here's a roster of "Predator" movies that were once in development but ultimately never made,...

With the new Predator movie Prey being released through the Hulu streaming service earlier this month, a lot of people have been talking about the Predator franchise and revisiting the early movies. In the new episode of The Arrow in the Head Show, hosts John “The Arrow” Fallon and Lance Vlcek are getting in on the Predator action as well, looking back at the 1990 film Predator 2 (watch it Here). To find out what they had to say about Predator 2, check out the video embedded above!
Directed by Stephen Hopkins from a screenplay written by Jim Thomas and John Thomas, Predator 2 has the following synopsis:
Los Angeles is enduring a heat wave and a crime wave, so the pressure on police officer Michael Harrigan to solve a strange string of murders is mounting. Harrigan thinks the culprit can be found among the warring gangs and drug cartels, but...

With Prey a runaway hit on Disney’s Hulu streaming service, people are quick to call it the greatest Predator sequel ever. But wait just a second folks – has everyone forgotten about 1990’s Predator 2 starring Danny Glover? Easily the least seen movie in the Predator franchise, this guns-blazing sequel married the urban action genre to the sci-fi/horror vibe of the first movie, and the result is a kick-ass movie that too few action fans have seen. It didn’t set the box office on fire, but it’s at least as good as Prey and should be celebrated as a truly great Predator movie. We’ll tell you why in this episode of The Best Movie You Never Saw!
For one thing – the movie has a kick-ass hero. Danny Glover’s Mike Harrigan is more of an everyman than Arnold Schwarzenegger’s Dutch. Not the hulking military man,...

Warning: This article contains major spoilers for every "Predator" movie -- including "Prey."
When you're in a "Predator" movie, things can get a little messy. For over 35 years, the intergalactic hunters have endured as one of the great movie monsters, hunting humans, animals, and even other iconic monsters with swift brutality. The species known as Yautja have appeared across five films and two spin-offs in all forms, upgrades, and mutations, with each dispensing their own violent pageantry of cannon firing, one on one combat, and spine ripping.
With the massive success of "Prey," let's take a look at some of the most memorable death scenes throughout the entire "Predator" franchise. There was a lot of death to sift through -- whether it's a beloved character who couldn't keep up or an antagonistic force facing the music. The only stipulation for this list is that, since the "Alien Vs. Predator" movies are included here,...

“Prey” is here.
The latest installment in the “Predator” franchise follows a young female Comanche warrior (Amber Midthunder) who runs afoul of our favorite alien hunter in 1717, 300 years before the original film takes place. But it harkens back to the original film’s spirit of pitting a single soldier (what was once Arnold Schwarzenegger is now Midthunder) in an element battle to the death.
But what is the ultimate outcome of the conflict?
We break down who survives (and what is left of them).
Major spoilers for “Prey” follow.
Back to 1997
Before we jump into the specifics of “Prey,” we have to briefly talk about a moment from one of the earlier movies in the franchise.
At the end of “Predator 2,” released way back in 1990, LA cop Mike Harrigan (Danny Glover) mortally wounds the predator that has come to futuristic, gang-riddled 1997 Los Angeles. (Also a big part of futuristic 1997 Los Angeles?...

As Above/So Below
The first Dowdle brothers collaboration to hit theaters since the 2008 [Rec] remake Quarantine, As Above/So Below is well worth the wait. Following a group of explorers in search of the Philosopher’s Stone, As Above/So Below was largely shot on location in the Catacombs beneath Paris, and the film’s found footage shooting style convincingly places viewers inside the skull-lined tunnels where shadows threaten to consume you at every turn.
Claustrophobic jump scares, the psychological horror of having your past literally come back to haunt (and potentially kill) you, and the creepily crafted screenplay from John Erick and Drew Dowdle had me anxiously tugging at my shirt collar throughout most of the film’s 93-minute runtime. The scariest part for me? The mysterious wide-eyed woman that Edwin Hodge’s camera-holding character Benji keeps seeing. Her lingering looks into the lens still give me chills.

An elite alien warrior who didn’t shy away from showing respect to a human who had earned it in 1990’s Predator 2, the Elder Predator was recently immortalized in grand fashion via Sideshow Collectibles’ Sixth Scale Figure. Though he is only on screen for a brief scene, fans of 1990’s Predator 2 will always remember the Elder Predator for showing respect to Mike Harrigan by passing on his flintlock pistol with “Raphael Adolini 1715” engraved on the shaft. Now Sideshow Collectibles and Hot Toys return that respect with their Elder Predator Sixth Scale Figure, a new entry to their Movie Masterpiece Series that they gave us the opportunity to check out.
Though the Elder Predator doesn’t fight in Stephen Hopkins’ film, the figure’s orange and black box cover art depicts the warrior with teeth bared in a ready-to-rumble style. Inside the box, the figure lays dormant as if he were stretched out in a hyper-sleep pod with an arsenal of weapons and clawed hands sitting in arm’s reach. Sideshow and Hot Toys equip the Elder Predator with attachable weapons aplenty: one sword, a pair of blades,...

Riddle me this folks…
I was watching Predator 2 earlier today; I’ve seen that film a dozen times, but it never gets old. It’s not what I’d call award-winning material, but it’s a good genre flick that doesn’t pretend to be anything more.
I couldn’t find any info on its budget to compare to how much it made at the box office ($57 million cumulative gross), so I really can’t say if it did well. But I’m inclined to believe that it’s had a much more successful life on the home video market (DVD/VOD) than it did in theaters, even becoming something of a cult favorite with some.
It’s a straight-forward action/thriller that starts off running and doesn’t really let up the rest of the way. It’s violent, bloody, comical, cheesy… a B-movie essentially, but still entertaining.
