Luke Combs is the man of the hour. The 59th Annual Academy of Country Music Awards nominations were announced on Tuesday morning, April 9, and Combs came out on top with eight bids, including Entertainer of the Year. Check out the complete list of nominations here.
This is Combs’s fifth nomination in a row for Entertainer of the Year, an award he has yet to win. This year he’s up against Kane Brown, Jelly Roll, Cody Johnson, Chris Stapleton, Morgan Wallen and lone female nominee Lainey Wilson. Women are consistently underrepresented in Entertainer of the Year, though Carrie Underwood won in 2020 (in a tie with Thomas Rhett) and Miranda Lambert finally prevailed in 2022. But we mustn’t underestimate Wilson here. She pulled off a huge upset at the CMA Awards last fall, claiming Entertainer of the Year despite being relatively new on the scene.

Brandy Clark could probably use a little rest. In the week before she sits down with me in Nashville, she’s been in New York to appear on Today — which required a 5 a.m. glam appointment — then attended a Tony Awards luncheon before heading to Los Angeles for another event, and then back home to Nashville. Somewhere in the middle of that, she had something like 26 straight hours of being awake.

Nate shared about the impending full-length project: “It has been so much fun making this album, and I really believe in every one of these songs.
Written by Nate alongside Mary Kutter, Chris Sligh and Paul Wrock, “Wreckage” first captivated fans when he shared part of the song on his social media platforms, growing his collective following by 270k+ since the first time he previewed the track. The gripping and emotive song will be featured on his upcoming, self-titled album along with his current Gold-certified single “Whiskey On You,” which is Top 5 at Canadian Country radio and climbing, as well as recent releases “I Found You” and “I Don’t Wanna Go To Heaven.”

Donovan Woods has announced plans for his new album, Without People. The Canadian singer-songwriter’s follow-up to 2018’s Both Ways, the full-length project will be released November 6th.
Recorded remotely by Woods and backing musicians during quarantine, Without People shows Woods exploring various aspects of human connection. Bailey Bryan may have been wearing a Reba T-shirt when she took the stage at Cma Fest in June, but there was little else “country” about her set. And the 21-year-old Washington State native knew it. Since releasing her debut Ep So Far in 2017 and its clever single “Own It,” Bryan had been slowly transitioning into a pop artist, writing lyrics and embracing sounds in the studio that were far afield from what’s being played on already poppy country radio.

“I’m a ghost on the radio,” sings Jon Pardi in “Call Me Country,” a swaying, steel-drenched track that arrives near the end of his new album Heartache Medication. Name-checking his country-music heroes like Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson, and Merle Haggard, the California native places himself in the same lineage — both as preservationist and rule-breaker. Freight trains, prisons, honk-tonks, and cowboys are all here, lamented as relics. “They used to call me country,” Pardi concludes, upholding one tradition even as he weeps for its loss.

“The Voice” finale will showcase the Top 4 singing live for America’s votes on Monday, May 20. Each of the four finalists — Maelyn Jarmon, Gyth Rigdon, Dexter Roberts and Andrew Sevener — will get three chances to sing on the two-hour show. They will do covers and original tunes as well as duet with their coaches.
In this final round of the season 16 competition, the coaches are not evenly matched. Blake Shelton, who won six of the first 15 seasons of “The Voice,” still has those three male artists in contention while rookie coach John Legend counts just the lone woman standing, Maelyn, on his team. The other two coaches — reigning two-time champ Kelly Clarkson and veteran Adam Levine — are left sitting on the sidelines.
We’ve discovered spoilers on Apple Music of the songs that the Top 4 will perform live on May 20. Take a look below at the titles of these tunes...

Last year Bruno Mars was the king of the Grammy Awards winning all six of his races. This year, one of the artists he bested for many of those prizes, Kendrick Lamar, leads with a whopping eight nominations. Many of these bids come for his work on the “Black Panther” soundtrack and the chart-topping single “All the Stars.” Likewise, Lady Gaga earned four nominations for “Shallow,” the love ballad from her film “A Star is Born.” Both of their songs also contend at the Academy Awards.
The four general field categories — Album of the Year, Record of the Year, Song of the Year, and Best New Artist — are the top prizes at the Grammys. While the nominees are drawn from across a variety of music genres, the winners of these Grammy Awards tend to be the biggest pop and rock acts like Mars, Adele, Taylor Swift, and Mumford and Sons.
