Paola Andrea Pérez Nieto was born in Cali, Colombia, has served as production manager and field producer for some of the most successful Colombian films in recent years. Her first feature as a producer, César Acevedo's Land and Shade, received the Caméra d'Or (Golden Camera) at the 2015 Cannes Film Festival.
Pérez graduated from the Universidad del Valle in 2009 with a degree in Communications and Journalism; she also studied "Production Manager and Executive Production in the International Market" at the EICTV (International School of Film and Television) in San Antonio de los Baños.
She was a partner of Burning Blue, from 2012 to 2016, with this company she produced the feature films Violencia by Jorge Forero (Forum section of the 2015 Berlin Film Festival); Land and Shade by César Acevedo (2015); and co-produced Diego Lerman's Refugiado, a Colombian-Argentinean co-production (Director's Fortnight - Cannes Festival 2014) and Jesús, a Colombian - Chilean co-production (Official Competition - San Sebastian Film Festival 2016)
With her production company Inercia Películas, she is currently working on the development of the feature films Horizonte by Cesar Acevedo, Donde Comienza el Río, by Juan Andrés Arango and the documentary film La Frontera Invisible by Alejandro Quijano, and co-producing Marcel Beltran's La Hora Cero and Flavia Montini's Los Zuluagas
