There’s a familiar, acrid aftertaste to “Flack,” Pop’s new drama about the controlled chaos of the publicity industry. The grim behind-the-scenes machinations of the glossy entertainment industry have always been one of TV’s favorite subjects, as are the people tasked with pulling the strings without anyone ever realizing. Over just six episodes, the show manages to cover everything from serial harassers, to closeted athletes, to lazy comedians embracing transphobia rather than actual punchlines.
It also centers characters with deliberately jagged edges — the kind of people who flirt with self-improvement before spiraling into a self-loathing that they insist is inevitable. These so-called “antiheroes” have traditionally been grizzled men, but “Flack” is the latest show to let women assume the role, most particularly with Robin (executive producer Anna Paquin), an ace publicist whose mother’s suicide and addiction issues have hollowed her out. In this way, creator Oliver Lansley...

NBC has put in development Whites, a comedy based on the UK format, from Matt Tarses (Scrubs), Will Arnett and Sony Pictures TV, where Tarses and Arnett’s Electric Avenue banner are under deals.
Written by Tarses, Whites’ U.S. adaptation is set in the fast-paced and hilarious kitchen at a beautiful restaurant in upstate New York. Roland White, a disgraced wunderkind of the New York culinary scene, has spent the past three years here in exile, and things are complicated when the owner hires Emily, a new pastry chef who is as gluten-free, farm-to-table and gender-neutral-pronoun-using as anyone on the planet.
Tarses executive produces with Arnett, his producing partner Marc Forman, Peter Principato of Artists First and the original series’ creators Oliver Lansley and Matt King.

Anna Paquin, star of Pop TV and UKTV’s forthcoming dark PR comedy drama Flack, says now is the time for female roles that are “flawed, complicated and interesting” – echoing recent male antiheroes such as Walter White, Don Draper and Tony Soprano.
The True Blood star plays Robyn, a quick-witted London-based U.S. publicity maven whose job it is to put out media fires and manage high-profile and exacting clients, in the six-part series.
The 45-minute drama, which is produced by Episodes producer Hat Trick Productions, is currently in production in London with rising actresses Lydia Wilson (Requiem) and Genevieve Angelson (Good Girls Revolt) appearing alongside Sophie Okonedo and guest stars including Bradley Whitford.
Speaking to Deadline on set, Paquin, says, “I see this era of television as one in which women’s roles are interesting, flawed and complicated, where they’re not necessarily perfect. People are not going to...

Endeavour wraps up its second series with this impressive episode. Here's Gem's review...
This review contains spoilers.
2.4 Neverland
All Arthur’s knights were brought down by earthly vices in the end: Lancelot by desire, Gawain by his pride and anger. Even the best of men had their price – all save one, Galahad. His destiny was to find the Grail, and to die as soon as he did so. No ties of love or family could bind him to this world for long. He saw men’s deeds with an outsider’s eye, and paid the outsider’s price in loneliness for doing so. It was the path forecast for him before his birth; there was none other open to him.
How appropriate, then, to be reminded of Galahad as we observe Morse at worship in the opening scenes of Neverland, the devastating final episode...

Sky Atlantic HD‘s six-episode comedy series from writer/director Robert B. Weide (Curb Your Enthusiasm), has added five cast members to join Nick Frost who’s playing the titular Mr. Sloane. Olivia Colman (Broadchurch, Hyde Park On Hudson), Ophelia Lovibond (Mr. Popper’s Penguins), Peter Serafinowicz (The Muppets… Again!) and Lawry Lewin (Horrible Histories) have boarded the bittersweet 1960s-set romantic comedy that centers on Frost’s buttoned-down man in crisis. Shooting is underway in London for a 2014 airdate. Sky Atlantic has been pushing deeper into original series, recently partnersing with Starz on drama Fortitude, with Canal Plus on The Tunnel and with BBC America on biopic Fleming. This is Weide’s first UK series. He’ll write and direct all six episodes of Mr. Sloane with Aschlin Ditta (The Catherine Tate Show) and Oliver Lansley (Whites) as co-writers on two episodes. Mr. Sloane is a co-production between Weide’s...

Oliver Lansley ("Whites") is set to play classic British comedian Kenny Everett in BBC Four's new telemovie biopic "The Best Possible Taste" reports The BBC.
A radio DJ and television entertainer, the offbeat and wild Everett is probably best remembered for his own series "The Kenny Everett Television Show" which ran throughout much of the 80's.
Some of Everett's most famous characters including Sid Snot and Cupid Stunt will be featured. Everett died in 1995 from an AIDS-related illness at the age of 50.
Former "Coronation Street" actress Katherine Kelly will star as Lee 'Lady Lee' Middleton, Everett's wife of thirteen years.
