Scoop is a dramatized feature about the BBC’s Newsnight team scoring a sensationally revealing 2019 interview with Prince Andrew about his relationship with millionaire sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein. For a film about a journalistic exclusive, it has the most generic title possible. There are already at least four other movies out there called Scoop, including a rubbishy 2006 Woody Allen film and a 1987 adaptation of Evelyn Waugh’s peerless 1938 satirical novel, a twofer satire of both the press and the British aristocracy.
Sadly, this latest Scoop has none of Waugh’s acid wit or alkaline intelligence. Although serviceable as a retread of the events that led up to the royal interview conducted by Newsnight anchor Emily Maitlis (impersonated here by Gillian Anderson), an interview recreated for big chunks of the running time, it doesn’t significantly deepen or enrich our understanding of the personalities involved — let alone journalism, privilege, sexual exploitation or the price of fish.

The biggest scoop of the century is pinning the British royal family to a sex trafficking scandal, as relived in Netflix film “Scoop.”
The feature, directed by Philip Martin and based on former “Newsnight” producer Sam McAlister’s memoir “Scoops: Behind The Scenes of the BBC’s Most Shocking Interview,” stars Gillian Anderson as BBC anchor Emily Maitlis, who infamously interviewed a disgraced Prince Andrew (Rufus Sewell) about his ties to Jeffrey Epstein in 2019.
“Scoop” is written by Peter Moffatt and Geoff Bussetil, with Billie Piper starring as producer/author McAlister. Keeley Hawes and Romola Garai co-star.
The film debuts on Netflix, following the conclusion of royal family drama “The Crown” in 2023. To note, “Scoop” lead star Anderson appeared on “The Crown” as Margaret Thatcher.
“Scoop” centers on the behind-the-scenes push to land an interview with Prince Andrew after the royal was listed in court papers as part of a U.

Another royal scandal is getting the Netflix treatment.
After “The Crown” concluded in 2023, the streaming platform is releasing film “Scoop” about the infamous 2019 BBC “Newsnight” interview between anchor Emily Maitlis and Prince Andrew. “The Crown” alum Gillian Anderson portrays Maitlis in the movie based on the former “Newsnight” editor Sam McAlister’s book “Scoops: Behind The Scenes of the BBC’s Most Shocking Interview.” Rufus Sewell plays Prince Andrew, the Duke of York at Buckingham Palace.

Infamous sex offender Jeffrey Epstein’s younger brother, Mark Epstein, speculated that former Attorney General Bill Barr may have been “protecting” high-profile individuals associated with his brother’s jail cell suicide.
Epstein, who faced federal charges of sex trafficking underage girls from Florida to New York, was found unresponsive in his cell at the Metropolitan Correctional Center on August 10, 2019. Mark challenged the initial determination by then-ag Barr that his brother died by suicide due to “screw-ups” in the jail.
“Yes, there were screw-ups, but that doesn’t mean my brother committed suicide because of screw-ups,” Mark told the New York Post.
It should be noted that in this current day and age the term “committed suicide” has been replaced with “died by suicide,” as the act is not a crime but a tragedy.

Former President Bill Clinton allegedly warned Vanity Fair not to publish articles regarding the sex-trafficking allegations against “his good friend” Jeffrey Epstein. Clinton reportedly stormed into their newsroom and began to “threaten” them.
According to the newly unsealed court documents, Virginia Giuffre, an Epstein accuser, mentioned Clinton in a 2011 email exchange with Sharon Churcher, a journalist in the Daily Mail.
The emails exchanged were advice given to Giuffre on whether she should do an interview and sell a photo to the publication. Churcher even offered to help her get a book deal back then.
“When I was doing some research into [Vanity Fair] yesterday, it does concern me what they could want to write about me considering that B. Clinton walked into Vf and threatened them not to write sex-trafficking articles about his good friend J.E.,” Giuffre wrote in an email.

Hundreds of pages of sealed records related to Jeffrey Epstein have been made public over the past week, revealing previously unknown details about the late accused sex trafficker who called some of the world’s most wealthy and influential people his friends, from Bill Clinton to Prince Andrew.
The release comes after a judge’s December ruling that the documents, which until Wednesday had been redacted, should no longer be concealed from the public. Previously, the documents had been part of Epstein accuser Virginia Giuffre’s 2015 civil case against Ghislaine Maxwell.

One of the alleged victims of convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein claimed she had sex multiple times with former CEO of Victoria’s Secret Les Wexner, according to documents released on Tuesday.
The damning claim stems from a 2015 civil case against Ghislaine Maxwell by Virginia Giuffre as hundreds of court documents describing the alleged criminal activities of Epstein began to be released to the public last week.
Wexner, who was named in the previously sealed court records among many of Epstein’s long-rumored powerful friends, was accused of having sex with Giuffre “multiple” times.

Prince Andrew’s back in the news. But don’t expect to hear a word about it from the British royal family. According to an expert, Buckingham Palace won’t comment on the recent unsealing of legal documents related to the Duke of York’s Jeffrey Epstein connection. The reason, they say, is simple: Andrew’s not a working royal.
Unsealed legal documents mention Andrew more than 70 times in relation to 2015 Epstein lawsuit
After settling a lawsuit brought by Epstein victim Virginia Giuffre out of court, Andrew’s relationship with Epstein is, once again, making headlines.
The reason behind it? Legal documents from Giuffre’s 2015 lawsuit against Ghislaine Maxwell going public. According to Newsweek, Andrew’s name appeared in the recently unsealed files more than 70 times.
Although many of the claims made against Andrew had been heard before, the renewed interest in his connection with Epstein continues. Meanwhile, Buckingham Palace...

As news outlets race to pore over nearly a thousand pages of Jeffrey Epstein-related documents that were released Wednesday evening, several famous names are already circulating — but context is key. In the age of race-to-be-first news, and amid the rise of AI-generated online content, it’s more important than ever to read past the headlines. These people appear to have only been mentioned in Johanna Sjoberg’s deposition where she denies having met them.
Sjoberg, one of Epstein’s victims who had worked for him as a masseuse, was deposed on May 18, 2016 in connection with Virginia Giuffre’s defamation suit against Ghislaine Maxwell, who was sentenced to 20 years in prison following a conviction on charges of conspiring with Epstein to sexually abuse minors.
Sjoberg was asked if she’d met various high-profile people including Cate Blanchett, Leonardo DiCaprio, Cameron Diaz and Naomi Campbell — and the answer to those was universally “no.

Court filings containing more than 100 contact names linked to the late convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein were unsealed on Wednesday afternoon.
Over 900 pages of partially censored documents were released.
A great deal of the information has already been reported. Many of the people whose names were mentioned have not been accused of any misdeed.
The documents include a list of 185 people labeled anonymously as John or Jane Doe, beginning with J. Doe #3 and ending with J. Doe #187. Some of the names are mentioned twice.
A small number of people on the list are minors or sexual assault victims. The judge clarified that those names will not be revealed.
It was mentioned in the court record that the documents for the people in the 107th and 110th slots on the list will not be released right away. One had been given an extension until January 22 for her appeal regarding the release.

The entertainment world has been rocked with the revelations from the sealed court documents related to prolific sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. The document includes a bunch of names from Hollywood. Michael Jackson and Leonardo DiCaprio are some of the big names in the document along with politicians Bill Clinton and Donald Trump, reports Mirror.co.uk.
Stars such as Cate Blanchett, Cameron Diaz, Bruce Willis and Kevin Spacey have also been name-dropped. However, simply their mention doesn’t not imply that they have been party to any wrongdoing. The claims and association of the names to the crimes are yet to be proven in the court of law.
As per Mirror.co.uk, the judge said a handful of names should remain blacked out in the documents because they would identify people who were sexually abused. Before the unsealing, the names were listed in court papers as variants of J Doe.

Jimmy Kimmel is clapping back at Aaron Rodgers after the NFL quarterback suggested his name could be on a list of people connected to the late, disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein.
During a recent appearance on the Pat McAfee Show, the New York Jets player said, “There’s a lot of people, including Jimmy Kimmel, who are really hoping [the list] doesn’t come out. … I’ll tell you what, if that list comes out, I’ll definitely will be popping some sort of bottle.”
Nearly 200 names connected to Epstein, including associates, former employees of his and Ghislaine Maxwell, or people who had flown on his planes, reportedly could be released by a New York judge soon. So far, the names in court documents have only been known as John and Jane Does.
Following Rodgers’ comments, the host of Jimmy Kimmel Live! took to X (formerly Twitter), threatening to take him to court.

Jimmy Kimmel is setting the record straight — and threatening to sue Aaron Rodgers after the quarterback suggested that the comedian had some sort of link to Jeffrey Epstein.
On Monday, Rodgers said on ESPN that he would pop “some sort of bottle” once a list of associates to Epstein is released, adding that “a lot of people, including Jimmy Kimmel,” should be scared about being on it. Kimmel, in a tweet Tuesday, clarified that he has never met or “had any contact” with Epstein.

Welcome to another rundown of every stat released by the TV insights company Samba TV. Below, we’ll run through all their released viewing stats (whether through their socials or through somewhere else) for Netflix’s newly released movies for the past three years.
How does Samba TV get its data? As described on its own website, the company tracks what appears on the users’ TV by reading pixels and utilizing this data for personalized recommendations on the TV or mobile apps connected to the television.
It’s also important to note that Samba TV stats typically only cover US households.
Of course, Netflix itself releases excellent viewing stats every Tuesday via its top 10 site. However, more data is always good, and it’s good to see shows and movies benchmarked against each other from a company like Samba TV.

Christmas morning in the UK saw the King lead the royal family’s traditional walk to church from his home of Sandringham in Norfolk, eastern England, with some familiar faces on display.
Included in the family outing was his brother Prince Andrew – seemingly back in the royal fold for private events, even if his public role remains on hold, following his friendships with the late Jeffrey Epstein and the jailed Ghislaine Maxwell, and the hashed non-apology the prince made for both in a TV interview. With more papers detailing the late shamed sex trafficker’s associates set to be released in January, speculation continues in the UK press as to whether Andrew’s name will once again resurface and his PR nightmare continue into another year.

A trove of information regarding Jeffrey Epstein and his myriad associates will be revealed after a federal judge ordered the unsealing of documents tied to Virginia Giuffre’s settled lawsuit against Ghislaine Maxwell.
As ABC News reports, Judge Loretta Preska ordered the documents to be released Jan. 1, 2024. The exact scope of the information contained in the documents is unclear, though over 150 Epstein associates could be named.
Many of the files are related to John or Jane Does who have previously spoken publicly about their connections to Epstein, or aired accusations against him.

Robert Kennedy Jr., an independent presidential candidate, had a close relationship with notorious convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
Kennedy reportedly had access to Epstein’s Manhattan office in 1993 and even socialized with him at The Pierre Hotel.
Kennedy admitted to two past trips on Epstein’s private plane and claimed that one was to Florida and the other for a “fossil hunting” expedition in South Dakota.
He stated that he never traveled alone on Epstein’s jet and always accompanied his wife and children.
However, discrepancies have been found in Kennedy’s account when it is compared to the description of his relationship with Epstein provided by longtime family friend Christina Oxenberg.
Kennedy’s claim that his trip to Florida in 1993 was with his wife and children contradicts the fact that at that time, he was married to Emily Ruth Black and had two children with her. Kennedy divorced Black...

Suspicions that Epstein hadn’t really hanged himself soon gave way to claims of a vast coverup — the man supposedly murdered to prevent him from revealing the worst secrets of the global elite.

Omid Scobie has launched the publicity rounds for his new book about the royal family, Endgame, with provocative claims it is Prince William who has painted his younger brother Prince Harry as mentally fragile. Scobie, the author of Finding Freedom, which documented Harry and Meghan’s ‘Mexit’ from the UK to Hollywood, writes in his new book: “The side of it that a lot of people don’t know, or within our industry have known but chosen not to report, is just how involved William has been in many of the things that have gone out about his own brother.”
In an interview with The Times, he adds that William’s wife, the Princess of Wales, has always been favoured by the UK press. Scobie says, “In the coverage of Kate we infantilize her massively so the bar is always lower. The small achievements that we’ve seen from the...

“We all know Ari Emanuel to be an incredibly performative, erratic, and in my mind, always self-serving [person].”
This was CAA cochairman Bryan Lourd wasting little time responding to comments made by Endeavor CEO Ari Emanuel concerning Lourd’s agency being named alongside imprisoned former Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein and the Walt Disney Company in a civil suit filed by actress Julia Ormond. Her suit includes allegations of sexual harassment, battery and retaliation. Lourd responded in the opening moments of his panel while speaking at the Bloomberg Screentime conference in Los Angeles on Thursday.
“The idea that he, in any way, could say that he could hold himself out as morally superior to anyone, but specifically around the issues that are so challenging for women, is odd,” Lourd said. “It’s ironic that the companies that he’s led his group into and the men that he’s partnered with … [are] his advisers on women’s issues.

Endeavor CEO Ari Emanuel said on Wednesday that rival CAA agency bosses Bryan Lourd and Kevin Huvane should step aside in light of Julia Ormond’s lawsuit against disgraced mogul Harvey Weinstein, Disney and their own agency.
Speaking at the Bloomberg Screentime conference Wednesday in Los Angeles, Emanuel said that “they should take a leave of absence. And investigators should come in and they should look at what they did. They didn’t apologize. They didn’t deny it.”
Emanuel is bitter rivals with CAA, and is long known for disrespecting his industry competitors, though usually in private. But even so, his broadside against two respected industry veterans was shocking in its directness.

One of the most obvious bits of trivia regarding "Succession" is the fact that its characters are based on the Murdoch family. Rupert Murdoch, the elderly conservative billionaire who's been running News Corp (proud owner of Fox News) for decades, is clearly the inspiration behind Logan Roy. "Succession" creator Jesse Armstrong even said at the Edinburgh TV Festival this year that the "predecessor" to the show was "a script [I wrote] about Rupert Murdoch and his family -- the real people." And although the battle for succession amongst Murdoch's adult children hasn't been quite as dramatic as it's been for their HBO counterparts, there are plenty of other details the show has drawn from.
Shiv Roy was evidently inspired by Elisabeth Murdoch, a woman who apparently felt constantly overlooked by her family as a serious, capable business leader. Like Shiv, Elisabeth tried to branch out from the family and start her own independent company,...

Deceased sex offender Jeffrey Epstein scheduled multiple meetings with conservative financial operatives, including billionaire Peter Thiel and real-estate mogul Thomas Barrack, in the run-up to the 2016 election, according to a report from The Wall Street Journal.
Over the course of his life, Epstein established connections throughout the upper echelons of politics, industry, and society, at the same time building a sex trafficking ring involving underage girls. In 2008 he leveraged those connections to secure a sweetheart nom-prosecution deal when faced with charges related to procuring underage girls for sex work. Epstein...

Since Jeffrey Epstein died under mysterious circumstances in his prison cell in August 2019 while awaiting sex-trafficking charges, and his right-hand woman Ghislaine Maxwell received 20 years behind bars for her part in the sex-trafficking operation (in a low-security prison, without having to name names), there’s still an overwhelming air of suspicion, confusion, and anger surrounding the notorious pedophile and the rich-and-powerful men who found themselves in his inner circle. Justice doesn’t seem like it’s been served when Bill Clinton, Bill Gates, Donald Trump, and other Masters of the...

It was the interview that shook the royal family to its core. Prince Andrew imagined that his November 2019 sit down with BBC Newsnight would help rehabilitate his tarnished image and explain his problematic association with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. Instead, the one-hour interview resulted in widespread condemnation of his behavior and ultimately forced the palace to remove him from his official duties.
How did the man who was once second in line to the throne end up in such a disastrous situation? It was a crisis of his own making, according to royal experts and palace insiders interviewed in the new documentary, Secrets of Prince Andrew, airing August 21 on A&e.

Prince Andrew’s secrets are set to be uncovered, again, this time on A&e.
The network is launching Secrets of Prince Andrew, from Fulwell 73’s Bitachon365 and Candle Media, on August 21.
The documentary special will explore the British Royals’ scandal-plagued life, including the disastrous BBC Newsnight interview in November 2019 that shook the monarchy to its core.
It is the latest U.S. documentary about Prince Andrew, after Peacock launched Banished last year. Netflix is also dramatizing the story for a movie with Gillian Anderson.
That car-crash interview, which forensically examined the Duke’s relationship with Jeffrey Epstein and his paramour Ghislaine Maxwell, who was convicted of child sex trafficking and other offenses.
During the interview the Prince said that he regretted continuing to associate with Epstein after the financier pled guilty to soliciting underage sex in 2008. However, the fact that he offered no apology to Epstein’s victims caused uproar and global headlines.

Bill Gates allegedly had an affair around 2010. Jeffrey Epstein was aware of the relationship and used the information to send a threatening email to Gates in 2017, suggesting he would make the affair public. Gates’ affair was with Mila Antonova, a Russian woman in her 20s at the time. It started after the two met through competitions for the card game bridge. The paper found a 2010 YouTube video, shown below, of Antonova talking about the game and noting her meeting with Gates at a national tournament.
