The 12 Days of Creepmas continues on Bloody Disgusting, this time with 9 sci-fi horror movies that get a bit wild with the yuletide theme.
Keep track of the 12 Days of Creepmas here.

"Star Trek: The Animated Series," originally just called "Star Trek," debuted on September 8, 1973. It will soon be commemorating its 50th anniversary. To celebrate, as announced at this year's San Diego Comic Con, Paramount will be newly animating several "Star Trek" characters and tapping extant "Star Trek" actors to produce several promotional bumpers in the old "Tas" style. Jonathan Frakes will play Commander William Riker in one such bumper, Armin Shimerman will return to play Quark in another, while Doug Jones will appear as Saru from "Star Trek: Discovery."
The announcement was given by "Star Trek" creative consultant Casper Kelly, who previously worked on "Star Trek: Short Treks."
"Star Trek: The Animated Series" famously reunited most of the original series cast (Walter Koenig does not appear) and merrily continued the five-year mission of the U.S.S. Enterprise. James Doohan reprised his role as Scotty, but also took on a lot of the show's supporting characters,...

A series adaptation for the New York Times bestselling book “They Both Die at the End,” from author Adam Silvera, has been set at Netflix, hailing from “Bridgerton” creator Chris Van Dusen, as well as executive producers Bad Bunny (née Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio) and “Yellowjackets” EP Drew Comins and studio eOne, TheWrap has learned.
The project, which was acquired by Netflix in a highly competitive bidding situation, has received a significant commitment. It marks Van Dusen’s return to the streamer after the success of “Bridgerton,” where he serves as creator and EP on the period romantic dramedy – one of Netflix’s biggest hits, with Seasons 1 and 2 occupying top spots in the Most Popular List for English-language TV.

Exclusive: In a very competitive situation, with five streamers/networks bidding, Netflix has nabbed a series adaptation of Adam Silvera’s No. 1 New York Times bestselling YA novel They Both Die at the End, I have learned. The project, which hails from Bridgerton creator Chris Van Dusen, Yellowjackets executive producer Drew Comins and studio eOne as well as music superstar Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio, known professionally as Bad Bunny, has received a significant, script-to-series commitment, I hear. It marks Van Dusen’s return to Netflix where he created and served as executive producer/showrunner on the first two seasons of Shondaland’s hit period drama Bridgerton, each of them ranking as Netflix’s most popular English-language TV series at the time of their launch.
Emmy and PGA Award-nominated Van Dusen is writing the pilot script and is executive producing through his Cvd Productions alongside Silvera, Ocasio, and Comins via his eOne-based Creative Engine.

After starting a job at an eerie hardware store, an anxious young man uncovers a shocking mystery that leads to a fight against terrifying forces that lurk just behind the walls.
Well, that’s certainly one way to start off the new year!
I went into Braden Swope‘s Human Resources knowing absolutely nothing about the film and yet even still, I walked away feeling immensely disappointed. The potential to tell a legitimately engrossing horror-comedy was quite high and yet it all came crashing down in the first thirty minutes.
These are essentially the set-up parts of the movie but sadly, even these scenes felt incredibly cheaply made and were honestly quite boring to watch. Not a whole lot happens, to tell you the truth. We...

It starts like any other yule log channel, with a warm fire filling the frame. A landlady interrupts the yuletide joy, her legs and vacuum shuffling past now and then. The doorbell rings; an elder woman with a Southern accent is there with her large adult son (dubbed "Pleatherface" at one point), claiming their car broke down, then forcing their way in. Later an unwitting couple returns to the home, unaware of the grisly death that went down moments before their arrival. All the good girls and boys watching become captive witness to hillbilly murder, haunted logs, a cult, aliens, and a night of laughs at a cozy cabin in the woods.
"Get in the holiday spirit with this cozy, crackling fire," reads the HBO Max page for Adult Swim's "Yule Log," the latest fever dream from Cheddar Goblin commercial creator Casper Kelly ("Too Many Cooks"). /Film's Matthew Bilodeau...

Real Time With Bill Maher will return for its 21st season on Friday, January 20 (10:00-11:00 p.m. Et/Pt), with a replay at 12:30 a.m. Allowing Maher to offer his unique perspective on contemporary issues, the show continues with its opening monologue, one-on-one interviews with notable guests, roundtable discussions with panelists, and its signature “New Rules.” The series airs on HBO and is available to stream on HBO Max.
The Hollywood Reporter observed, “Amid a bleak talk show landscape, Maher achieves the unthinkable: He consistently gets people talking.”
About Bill Maher: Maher headlined his first special on HBO in 1989 and has starred in twelve solo specials to date, including the recent “#Adulting,” the hour-long presentations “Bill Maher: Live From Oklahoma,” “Bill Maher: Live from D.C.,” “Bill Maher… But I’m Not Wrong,” as well as “The Decider” and “I’m Swiss”, “Victory Begins at Home,” “Be More Cynical,...

Editor’s note: This article includes mild spoilers for “Adult Swim Yule Log.”
All due respect to James Cameron and his underwater actors in “Avatar: The Way of Water,” but you can’t beat the filmmaking gamble of Casper Kelly’s “Adult Swim Yule Log.” Adult Swim’s first feature-length live action endeavor dropped without warning December 11 after the season finale of “Ricky and Morty”: A cozy two-minute yule log video morphs into a disturbing home invasion horror movie that becomes a supernatural cabin-in-the-woods thriller with a young couple (Justin Miles and Andrea Laing) who may be at the mercy of a haunted fireplace.
And then things get really weird, with everything from time travel to UFOs figuring into an unclassifiable odyssey. “My dream has been making movies,” Kelly told IndieWire over Zoom this week. “I thought now that I’ve got one, I’m going to put in everything I can.

In the age of streaming, the folks at Adult Swim are constantly proving the power of stumbling across a bizarre fever dream at 3:00 a.m. You wake up wondering if that commercial ("Unedited Footage of a Bear") about an ambiguous drug, which turns into a nightmarish spiral into the world of addiction, was something you hallucinated while in this dream state. Adult Swim is practically bred for surprises like that; it's one of the few reasons to actually hold onto your cable package.
Since 2009, the programming block has continually released bizarre shorts like these under the "Infomercial" banner, which allows its creatives to go wild and experiment. They're often released to channel viewers in the dead of night, with almost no marketing. However, a few of them slip through to the masses by means of viral success. Casper Kelly,...

Casper Kelly opens up on how his stealth holiday horror movie came together, its curious development, and the importance of keeping audiences surprised.
It’s becoming increasingly difficult to genuinely surprise audiences during a digital age where entire scripts can leak before a movie even exits pre-production. Horror is a genre that thrives through the unknown and its ability to make its audience uncomfortable and unsure of what they’re about to experience. A true surprise is easier said than done, even when there’s a strong plan behind it, but Casper Kelly’s The Fireplace (also known as Adult Swim Yule Log) manages to accomplish this rare feat (read my review here).

Adult Swim’s first feature-length horror film is the holiday gift that keeps on giving and a standout genre experiment.
“It’s so hard to surprise people these days…Everybody’s seen everything.”
It’s two minutes before Adult Swim’s holiday yule log presentation finally shows its hand, breaks free of its defining formula, and begins to first hint that something bigger and more sinister than a seasonal celebration is afoot. A yule log video is a holiday tradition that’s supposed to provide its audience comfort through warm, continuous, predictable images. The Fireplace, alternatively, is the complete antithesis of this tradition as it unsettles and surprises the viewer through every single minute–yet, inexplicably, also still succeeds as a functional yule log video. This stealth feature film functions as a cornucopia of horror genre tropes that plays out like an ultra-stylized Dadaist Cabin in the Woods filtered through Adult Swim sensibilities.

A curious phenomenon that has occurred over the past few years is the proliferation of yule log videos. From The Pokemon Company to Shudder and even Michael Bublé, yule log POVs set to relaxing Christmas music have become a major way for companies and celebrities to celebrate the holidays. In 2021, Adult Swim got in on the action, uploading a "Rick and Morty"-themed yule log on YouTube featuring the titular characters sitting by a fireplace and trading jabs.
Given the popularity of this concept, it's no wonder that the network decided to revisit the yule log idea for 2022. In 2014, Casper Kelly (Your Pretty Face is Going to Hell) released the now viral 11-minute video, sending the internet ablaze with fervent fan reactions. If you somehow managed to escape its catchy grasp, Adult Swim’s Too Many Cooks is an experimental short film, blending sitcom parody, surrealism, sci-fi, soap opera, and police procedural commentary with a madcap serial killer deconstructing all its branching storylines.
If that sounds weird, it’s because it is. But that’s what Adult Swim does best – delivering irreverent comedy that gifts us odd delight and daring discomfort.

The sitcom has been a staple of American television practically since the medium began, and continues to be. Yet there's something about the '80s sitcom that feels so quintessential, as all the pieces of what makes up a typical sitcom are not only present but exaggerated: a heightened concept, an ensemble cast, a cheesy title, and an even cheesier theme song and intro sequence to go with it.
The surreality of sitcoms — particularly the '80s sitcom — has become a source of parody in recent years, best seen in Casper Kelly's brilliant 2014 short for Adult Swim, "Too Many Cooks." One of the many...

Adult Swim said Wednesday it is expanding its creative portfolio with the production of four all-new digital short series based on breakout characters from four of the network’s series: Rick and Morty, Your Pretty Face Is Going to Hell, Robot Chicken and Aqua Teen Hunger Force.
Each mini spinoff is 8-10 episodes and will be available across Adult Swim’s digital platforms around the world. It comes as the network continues to expand its shows into other formats; earlier this month, Adult Swim confirmed three of its series were getting feature film treatment: Aqua Teen Hunger Force, Metalocalypse and The Venture Bros.

“We see it as our mission to put something hilarious within a fingers’ swipe of anyone on the planet,” Michael Ouweleen, president of Adult Swim, said in a press release. “These shorts are a way to meet the next generation of Adult Swim fans where they are, while giving our creators another format to play in and innovate around.”

“Rick and Morty” fans are getting vindication for The Vindicators, as Adult Swim has set a digital short series based on the fan-favorite characters Supernova, Vance Maxiumus, Alan Rails, Crocubot and Noob Noob, aptly titled “The Vindicators.”
The show is one of four digital short series that Adult Swim revealed Wednesday, each “based off break out characters from or inspired by” four of the cable channel’s shows: “Rick and Morty,” “Your Pretty Face Is Going to Hell,” “Robot Chicken” and “Aqua Teen Hunger Force.”
Per Adult Swim, “Each digital short series will highlight minor characters that have previously appeared in or been inspired by fan-favorite series and create new worlds with them as the stars. Fans will go on missions with The Vindicators, catch up with the Aqua Teen villains, have fun with the demons in hell and explore the life of Alabama Jackson, a character invented at a...

All this week, we’re presenting the Vulture TV Awards, honoring the best in television from the past year. The nominees for Best Viral Moment are: Nicole Kidman on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon Jon Snow at a dinner party, Late Night With Seth Meyers "Too Many Cooks," Adult Swim Anne Hathaway’s “Wrecking Ball” performance, Lip Sync Battle Australia takedown, Last Week Tonight With John Oliver And the winner is ..."Too Many Cooks" When "Lazy Sunday" first aired on Saturday Night Live back in 2005, the TV universe seemed to shift a bit on its axis. (Perhaps because it really did: The Lonely Island video, one of the earliest professionally created YouTube sensations, helped usher in the age of internet-tv convergence.) It would be a stretch to suggest Adult Swim’s "Too Many Cooks" will end up having a similar impact, but for a few weeks last November, Casper Kelly...

At this time of year, it's good to be reminded that contemporary TV offers such a cornucopia of riches. This past year, in particular, has offered plenty to give thanks for -- in terms of both what's on the air and what is not. Among the things I'm thankful for:
That "The Flash" is actually good.
That recent, pricelessly funny Billy Bob Thornton guest spot as a lovelorn urologist-to-the-stars on "The Big Bang Theory."
That I don't work at the "Today" show.
That David E. Kelley is writing a TV show for Reese Witherspoon and Nicole Kidman to star in.
That this is the last season for "Two and a Half Men."
That "Seinfeld" reruns still hold up pretty well.
That Casper Kelly made '80s sitcom parody "Too Many Cooks." Whether or not you like the finished product -- and it's often pretty disgusting -- I'm glad someone had the impulse to make it.

William Tokarksy is having a hell of a week following his breakout role as the menacing killer in "Too Many Cooks." We chatted with Tokarsky — who, in real life, speaks in an incredibly gentle southern drawl — about what the production was like, the reactions he’s received, and how to rock a Members Only jacket ... covered in blood. How did you get involved with "Too Many Cooks?" When I first retired, I started working as an extra in some TV shows and movies. Atlanta’s the growing movie/TV capital of the South now, and one of the shows I did was for Adult Swim — a little show called Your Pretty Face Is Going to Hell. Casper Kelly [the creator of "Too Many Cooks"] is one of the creators and directors of that and we got to be friends working on set. They liked my look and asked me...

If you found yourself subconsciously humming or trying to sing the words to "Too Many Cooks" this weekend, we don't blame you. There's no escaping the subliminal, hypnotic powers of the Adult Swim parody, which veteran scribe and producer Casper Kelly (Your Pretty Face Is Going to Hell) unleashed on innocent TV watchers last Friday. Kelly penned the lyrics to the repetitive, cornball-but-catchy song featured in the video, and Shawn Coleman and Michael Kohler scored it. We've written out the lyrics below in full so you can succumb to their dark powers and properly sing along. (If you want to overachieve, we've also included the few instances of actual character dialogue.) There are a few voices on the track, but we figured you'd want to do it as a duet, so click play, grab a friend, and have at it.Man: It takes a lot to make a stew Woman:...

If you’ve seen this [adult swim] video called “Too Many Cooks” making the rounds on the Internet today but haven’t actually watched it yet, you need to right now. It’s a life-changing experience. No, seriously. What makes this even more hilarious is the fact that it aired to unsuspecting viewers during the network's infomercial block.
The video, which comes from director Casper Kelly, starts off simple enough as a scarily accurate parody the opening credits of late ‘80s/early ‘90s sitcoms. Right around minute 3, though, they start jumping television eras and genres and things start to escalate and implode very quickly. At about the halfway mark it becomes an exercise in patience more than anything else. With just enough thrills and laughs to keep you from clicking away, you’re stuck watching the entire 11-and-a-half minute video. Watching this is basically like going on a roller coaster ride: It starts off great.

About five minutes into watching “Too Many Cooks,” you begin to think, What lunatic made this? That lunatic was Casper Kelly, longtime Adult Swim writer and producer, and co-creator of Your Pretty Face Is Going to Hell. Vulture spoke with Kelly about the short’s surprisingly long production schedule. Find out why it took a year and a half to make, what got cut for being “too wacky,” and whether or not Kelly was high. Where did the idea come from? It was a shower idea. I like that style of comedy like David Letterman when he’ll repeat something and then it’ll become annoying, and then it becomes funny again. Or Andy Kaufman would do that. I love that kind of humor, but I’ve never really tried anything like that. So I got that idea, but I didn’t think I could make it work for 11 minutes,...

Making fun of the 1980s television landscape, Cartoon Network introduced a new video that’s as funny as it is strange.
“Too Many Cooks” aired on Adult Swim and consisted of 11+ minutes of Casper Kelly-created craziness that included a massive cast of fake actors in what ends up being a cop drama, horror movie, sci-fi series, superhero epic and cartoon.
Via his website, Kelly wrote, "Thank you everyone. The response to Too Many Cooks feels more surreal to me than the thing itself.”
And when the actual show begins, the family home is filled with people as a guy walks through the front door and the words “To Be Continued” appear on the screen!

It's an 11-minute hallucinogenic odyssey that Looper (and future Star Wars) director Rian Johnson has declared worthy of being "in the Oscar running for best short." And since the people at Adult Swim have made it available online -- it debuted inauspiciously last month during a 4 a.m. programming block -- Too Many Cooks has blazed a trail across the Internet to become a must-see among in-the-know Hollywood creatives. What is it? That's a little hard to describe. From the demented mind of Casper Kelly, co-creator of other out-there Adult Swim titles like Stroker and Hoop and Your Pretty Face is

Adult Swim has an "Informercials" slot at 4 Am where they showcase oddball, offbeat programming. It's not exactly when anybody is actually watching the channel, so it says something that this week your Facebook and Twitter feeds have been clogged up with "Too Many Cooks." And unlike most things that everyone says to click, this is actually worth your time. Created by Casper Kelly, this is a parody of sitcom intros that plays out for twelve increasingly bizarre and hilarious minutes. As the opening sequence to the fake "Too Many Cooks" keeps rolling over and over, the characters find themselves in more and more horrifying situations, until the whole thing just goes so far off the rails that...well, you just have to see for yourself. If anything was made to be watched bleary-eyed at 4 Am it's this, and yes, that's a compliment. See what you've been missing below.

You’re going to see a weird viral video today. It’s going to make you scrunch up your eyebrows, lean in close to your screen, then lean far, far away—and when it’s all over, you’ll wonder if you’ve transcended this mortal plane altogether. It’s called Too Many Cooks and it aired on Adult Swim at 4 a.m. for a week straight at the end of October—wedged somewhere between infomercials and insomnia. Adult Swim has always fostered TV insanity, but the network has ascended to surreal new heights with the 12-minute video Too Many Cooks. Created by Casper Kelly and originally aired during Adult Swim's late night "Infomercials" slot, the short starts out as an innocent send-up of cheesy late Seventies/early Eighties sitcom intro credits. But it gradually becomes more demented, morphing from a wacky family comedy to a variety of genres (police procedural, sci-fi saga, superhero cartoon) as most of the ever-expanding cast is either blown up or brutally murdered by a creepy slasher.

This is making the Internet rounds and will presumably swallow the entire world by midday at this rate, so why resist? Casper Kelly is a regular Adult Swim contributor, and this is his magnum opus. What begins as an extended parody of every single type of mediocre ’80s sitcom personage (the casting, finding the exact right face for every goofy dad, hectoring boss and bemused grandma, is really something) mutates into a series of other staples of the decade — G.I. Yesterday, a friend sent me a Youtube link along with a brief note saying, "I’m not sure why I’m forwarding this to you except it’s the oddest f---ing thing I’ve seen on TV in a while, and…f---…I don’t know why…try to get through it…" With that kind of intro, how could I not immediately dive into "Too Many Cooks"? An Adult Swim short (created by Adult Swim vet Casper Kelly) that — like some of the channel's other weird experiments — debuted earlier this week at 4 a.m. (in a timelsot labeled "Infomercial"), "Too Many Cooks" is an elaborate parody of '80s & '90s sitcom title sequences that in time turns into... something else. As my friend said, it is the oddest thing you will have seen in a long time, but it may also be either the most brilliant or dumb thing.

Adult Swim announced it will renew Dave Willis and Caspar Kelly's workplace comedy "Your Pretty Face Is Going to Hell." According to a press release issued by Adult Swim today, "Compared to other key programming in the same time period, 'Your Pretty Face Is Going To Hell' ranked No. 1 among young adults and men, outdistancing direct competition such as Comedy Central, Spike, Nick-at-Nite, MTV, and FX by double to quadruple digits." "Your Pretty Face Is Going to Hell" is a satire on corporate culture that is set, most appropriately, in the depths of Hell. Co-creators Dave Willis and Casper Kelly have previously collaborated on episodes of "Aqua Teen Hunger Force" and "Squidbillies."...

Matt Servitto (Banshee, The Sopranos), Henry Zebrowski (The Wolf Of Wall Street) and Craig Rowin (Night Of Too Many Stars, @Midnight) star in the workplace comedy that follows Gary (Zebrowski), an associate demon, as he attempts to capture souls on Earth in order to climb the corporate ladder of the underworld. Gary is too stupid, lazy, and kind-hearted to do his job well and is frequently stabbed in the back by his devious co-worker, Claude (Rowin). Plus, his boss Satan (Servitto) is immortal, which means that management positions are unlikely to become available soon. The creators of Squidbillies sure do have a lot to hoop and holler about, given the absurdist show is in its sixth year, with an impending sixth season due out on September 11th, 2011.

Starting June 21st 2011, fans can own the DVD, which features the entire ten episodes and a slew of bonus material from the the fifth season. From the official press release:
