- Huge fan of Richard Burton. Earnshaw organized the first-ever Burton retrospective in 2002 as part of the 8th Bradford Film Festival, hosted by the UK's National Museum of Photography, Film & Television. Ten films were screened including Equus, Look Back in Anger, Becket and Where Eagles Dare.

- Programmed a season of Richard Burton's films in August 2009 at the National Film Theatre in London to commemorate the 25th anniversary of Burton's death. Also programmed a season of Steve McQueen's films in 2010 for the 30th anniversary of the actor's death. For both strands he presented an illustrated lecture: Lion of the Welsh for Burton and Hollywood Nonconformist for McQueen.
