Plus, Weird: The Al Yankovic Story, Saint Jessica Wild of Chickens, changing the look of The Hobbit, and Nintendo goes 3D.
I mentioned a couple of months ago there would be a new Jackass 3D coming out. Now there’s a story floating around on how Paramount made the decision to go 3D for Jackass. It involves tying a remote controlled helicopter to one of their junk and flying it in a tethered circle right at the executive’s face.
Nintendo is developing a 3D-capable 3Ds that won’t require you to wear glasses. Or ever speak to another human being again.
The Onion TV is coming to TV. IFC has announced plans to bring the fake news format to cable in spring 2011. I’ll be honest, I’m not sure that it translates.
Take this with a boulder of salt, but Paper is reporting that out director Lee Daniels...

One of the things that really stuck out to me on last night's highly entertaining episode of Drag Race was what an amazing teacher -- and self-promoter -- RuPaul is for this fast-dwindling group of queens. The main challenge was all about having the ladies create a storyline for a book they'd potentially write about themselves and shoot a drag cover appropriate for said book. In addition, Pandora, Raven, Tyra, and the rest had to do a satellite interview with E!'s entertainment journalist Marc Malkin, where they'd try to incorporate both the name of their book and plugs for...

You can always count on RuPaul to speak the truth. And, natch, for being funny as hell while doing it. It's one of the queen's best attributes. On last night’s episode of Drag Race, the host couldn’t have been more spot on with her searing bon mot to eternally funny queen Pandora Boxx, as she awaited her fate after the rocker chick-inspired challenge: “Pandora Box,” RuPaul said, in her hilarious, deeply dramatic fashion, “you are the Susan Lucci of this competition.” And RuPaul is right — the poor, poor Pandora Boxx, a favorite contestant of mine who pulled off...

Tyra Sanchez, wielding her hateful attitude, has incited drama several times already on this season of RuPaul's Drag Race, notably in episode 2 when she whined her way through the first group challenge where the queens did burlesque. And "the other Tyra"—as Ru has taken to calling her—certainly delivered on the drama front again last night. She ruffled the other contestants' feathers—well, mostly just Tatianna's—as she hummed-shrieked-sang while putting together her dress for this week's wedding-themed challenge. It's clear the producers or episode editors want us to believe that the Tyra-Tatianna drama was a big diva showdown,...

With just nine queens left vying for the title of America's Next Drag Superstar, the competition finally got hotter than a two piece and a biscuit on RuPaul's Drag Race last night. Even though it was sad to see Mystique sashay away last week, I felt like last night was truly the first episode this season where it was somewhat difficult to choose which queen would have to go. Holy drag queen! We're finally boiling down to the cream of this season's crop. Werq! Before we delve into who did, indeed, sashay away this week, let's talk about what happened early in the episode.

When RuPaul appeared at the beginning of last night’s episode of Drag Race, she told the queens that in her early years she had no money and “would eat anything.” And now, she continued, “that’s what you’re going to do.” Dun, dun, dun! Commence the (rather inventive) game of “Chicken or What?” Where—you guessed it!—the ladies had to put on a blindfold and eat a nibblet of a fried morsel that could be chicken, then decide whether it was indeed chicken or, alternatively, “what.” “What” being, of course, something totally disgusting—bull’s testicles, soy chicken,...

My favorite moment of last night's episode of RuPaul's Drag Race revolves around this quote from RuPaul herself: "Tatianna, that’s an answer for the Miss America contest—not the RuPaul Drag Race contest.” Zing! Sitting at the judges' table, the drag superstar host had just asked Tatianna who from Team Pandora Boxx deserved to go home after losing the burlesque challenge. And, while everyone else on the team was saying that Tatianna herself should take her high heels back to the streets and leave the Drag Race womb, Tatianna decided to go allllll kinds of PC with her answer,...

Recently it came to light that you could Jerzify Yourself. Which was fun for, like, a hot beach second. But screw that spray tan-and-trucker cap shizzle because now you can Dragulate yourself with Logo and RuPaul's Drag Race's Dragulator. Werq it out, boys and girls! Like I did. (See: left.) I mean, to be honest, this isn't that much of a stretch for me, since I've taken this plunge in a much more literal way before. But just look at the difference from the inset photo that I started with! From just fine to super fab...in about five minutes!

"I'm back!" screeched RuPaul at the top of the 9 o'clock hour last night, announcing that, yes ladies, another season of RuPaul's Drag Race — Logo's ridiculously addictive search for America's Next Drag Superstar — had begun. And back it certainly was, fiercer than ever. More contestants, a brighter (although is that a good thing in a drag situation?) workroom, and crazier challenges! Or as Ru put it during her first She Mail delivery: This season's is set to have "more twists and turns than Kim Kardashian trying to wiggle out of a pair of Spanx." But before I delve into the genius...

RuPaul's Drag Race is coming back to Logo, the network announced yesterday, for its second season on Feb. 1 at 9 p.m. Woot! To celebrate that news (or maybe just for a random bit of fun) Logo released the book cover at left of the famous drag host doing her best — and honestly, totally awesome! — Sarah Palin. Love! RuPaul really hit the mark with this one, from the cheesy red jacket to the signature eyewear, she makes a great version of the former Vice Presidential candidate and current media tour-er. According to the press release Logo sent along with the photo,...

We've got a treat for all you RuPaul's Drag Race fans out there—a glimpse at the season 2 cast! The show is set to debut in February, and Logo just dropped this exclusive video into EW's very happy, drag-loving little lap. Take a look: Like Ru says: "You betta watch!" As you can tell, it certainly seems like the show hasn't lost any of the copious amounts of verve and panache it served up so heavily in the inaugural season earlier this year. (And, here's a dream within a dream: You can still watch all the episodes from last season online.

Since I enjoy Logo's ridiculous reality treat RuPaul's Drag Race so much, I've made it my personal mission to cover all aspects of the show here on PopWatch. (Just deal with it!) So now, a bit of news on season 1's winner, the fabulous Bebe Zahara Benet: The Cameroooooooooon! native has got her own documentary coming! Who knew? Back at the season 1 finale party at NYC's Therapy, where Bebe performed after she was crowned the winner, I remember seeing tons of cameras following her around -- but I figured those were just for the show or some such. Alas, hark! It's actually documentary cameras that have been following around the drag queen since May of 2006. Amaz! And finally, there's a trailer, which just went online yesterday: Love those grainy, dramatic opening and closing montages. Don't you? They just look glam, kind of throwbacky. It's hard for me to get...

We've got a bit of casting news for the second season of Ru Paul's Drag Race, which will air on Logo (our parent company) early next year. In addition to the regular reality show casting process (where the show's producers select the contestants), the show runs an online contest to fill one of the 12 contestant slots.
At rupaulcasting.com, Ru herself invited drag queens from around the country to submit photos, blogs, and performance videos. Then the public was able to vote on their favorites, and the resulting winner was spicy Miami native Jessica Wild.
Wondering how the rather tamely named "Jessica Wild" won out over the likes of "Dusty Pouché," "Dragity Kane," and "Mimi Imfurst"? Check out photos of Jessica (both in and out of drag) as well as her winner's video after the break.
Enjoy!

EW is pleased to introduce the first contestant who'll be sashaying your way on season 2 of RuPaul's Drag Race: Meet Jessica Wild. The raven-haired beauty (pictured at left in a bustier and door-knocker-sized earrings) is actually the choice of the people -- that is, fans chose her from the slew of wannabes who submitted profiles on RuPaulCasting.com. (The rest of the cast will consist of producer-chosen contestants.) As I'm sure Drag Race fans will remember, last year's fan-voted contestant was none other than delicious runner-up Nina Flowers. So Jessica has a lot to live up to in the show's second season, which is set to debut in early 2010. From the initial information Logo has provided -- and the blog posts and videos Jessica posted on her Logo profile -- here's what we know: Jessica's real name is David. He's a native of San Juan, Puerto Rico, but recently moved to Miami,...
