Elizabeth Marrs
- Actress
- Director
- Writer
Blending an earthy core with white glove manners, Elizabeth Marrs is a fearless and versatile actor with old-school sex appeal and sparkling zaniness. After several decades working in academia she returned to her first love of acting, taking on roles that range from slapstick comedy to unflinching tragedy. Today, she is a ripened artist working in film and television as an award winning actor, writer, director and producer.
Imagination and curiosity drives her skills as a storyteller. Her childhood improvisations were recognized as talent by the Ringling Brothers and Barnum Bailey Circus when she was plucked from a pool of 500 kids to perform under the big top as a child clown. During her teen years, Marrs studied with the Cleveland Playhouse and was cast as the lead in High School productions, while in graduate school, her innate charisma and love of character attracted the attention of student filmmakers at the University of Illinois Chicago and Northwestern University. In her former "role" as Dr. Elizabeth Olton, professor of Art History, Marrs continued to interpret both comedy and tragedy, effect her audience, and when necessary, act out works of art during her lectures. These experiences solidified Marrs' need to embody a character, tell a story and do it with verve and joy.
Embracing her potential as an actress and creator, she does not rely on fate to come knocking but actively pursues her craft through collaborations with other filmmakers and boldly digging deep into character with empathy and a spark of grit and wit.
Watch Elizabeth's work in the upcoming indie feature film, The Team, where she plays the Director of the CIA. In addition to acting in this emotional dark military picture, Marrs is one of the Executive Producers.
