Matthew "Match" Ray - My first question is now that the full length series movie is out, are you getting the reaction you expected?
Marcel Sarmiento - You never know what to expect, but i'm pleasantly surprised people dig it.
Mr - Tell us what you thought about this project when you were first approached.
Ms - I wondered how in the hell can i shoot something that stands up with all these other filmmakers for five grand?
Mr - So now that the movie is out what is been the most fun that you heard in people's reactions to your short or to some of your other friends or directors for this project?
Ms - Well I thought I'd hear more concern over the dog, but frankly there hasn't been any of that. Aren't people concerned what we did to that poor white...

Significantly and obviously inspired by anime, White Wall is a low-budget mix of martial arts, western and post-apocalyptic sci-fi. The latter is the genre it captures the best, as it cribs liberally from the standard apocalypse scenarios. Dystopian cities under military rule, the last arks for human civilization; all that's left after a deadly virus has turned most into the infected.
It's a decent time-tested premise. Combined with western kitsch and some kung fu fighting, it reads like a solid recipe for a fun flick. But this is one of those dishes that would increase, not sate, the appetite. In other words, when the credits roll, you're going to want to watch this movie again. Just maybe not this one.
Giving new meaning to "white wall," the film opens with several walls of text explaining the film's backstory. After human civilization is ruined by the virus Vxii, a white wall...

Having divided viewers and sparked a lot of chatter on the film-festival circuit and at midnight shows over the past year, Deadgirl has now arrived on unrated DVD from Dark Sky with a reversible cover reflecting the way the movie subverts expectations of the undead and bad-girl subgenres. Initially packaged on the outside is the traditional zombie image seen at left; on the inside is the more provocative art seen below.
The movie (reviewed at length here) is both a gory ghoul opus in which the living corpse receives more violence than it inflicts, and a femme-fatale film of sorts in which the title character is confined to a state of inactivity for much of the running time. Specifically, the catatonic DeadGirl (Jenny Spain) is discovered bound to a table in the basement of an abandoned hospital by Rickie (Shiloh Fernandez) and J.T. (Noah Segan), teenaged pals united by their high-school-outsider status.

I will start this review off by saying something I have already stated many times on this site. ‘TiMER’ was one of my favorite films at the 2009 Tribeca Film Festival and it better get a nice wide release very soon. Since it’s premiere in April, ‘TiMER’ has been wowing audiences at some other film festivals and even picked up the award for Best Film at the Connecticut Film Festival. An honor it definitely deserved.
In ‘TiMER’, Oona O’Leary (Emma Caulfield) is waiting to meet her true love. The problem is that her biological clock is ticking, even if her TiMER isn’t. A TiMER is a device implanted in your wrist, which counts down to the exact day you will meet your one and only. Oona’s is blank, which means the love of her life doesn’t have one. So Oona only dates TiMER-less guys in...

‘Deadgirl’ is a dark vision of teen angst, a somber coming of age tale about the immorality that can stem from social separation. Deeply twisted yet strangely cerebral, it is a welcome entry into the horror genre that has become plagued with the ‘Saw’s and the ‘Hostel’s of the world. While it’s surface narrative could draw similarities to those types of films (torture is part of the story), there is a deeper meaning behind what is going on that allows it to offer up more than your typical serving of torture porn.
Jt and Ricky are best friends, outcasts together at their local high school. They spend their days skipping school, running off to secluded spots around town, drinking beers, and basically expressing their teen-aged anger in the best way they know how. They find their own, personal Pleasure Island in an abandoned mental institution. Once there,...
