Audie Cornish, who just last week announced her departure from NPR’s All Things Considered, is joining CNN+ as anchor and correspondent.
Cornish will host a weekly show for the network’s subscription streaming service, set to debut in the spring, and will contribute to its live programming. She also will host a new podcast and will appear on CNN covering breaking news.
“There are fresh stories to be told and new ways to tell them,” Cornish said in a statement.
CNN+ will launch in the spring, and will feature shows from Chris Wallace, Anderson Cooper and Kasie Hunt, among others. Cornish will be based in Washington and will start in February.
Cornish has been with NPR since 2005 on the national desk, and joined the politics team in 2008. She was named host of Weekend Edition Sunday in 2011, and then became co-host of All Things Considered in 2012. She won a George...

YouTube announced today that it will partner with StoryCorps, a nonprofit that records and archives oral stories from diverse voices in order to pass wisdom through the generations, on a new program by which creators will be able to produce video-based StoryCorps interviews at YouTube’s Spaces in Los Angeles and New York.
The initiative is part of YouTube’s Creators For Change initiative, announced last month, which appoints a group of influencer ambassadors across the globe who will advocate for various causes aided by funding and other resources from YouTube.
Beginning December 5 for 12 days, YouTube will make available custom sets at its Spaces in Los Angeles and New York that look and feel like StoryCorps’ recording booths. A select group of creators who are using YouTube to address social issues will be invited to bring someone to the Spaces for a video-based interview about identity and belonging in modern-day America.

The Palm Springs International ShortFest, billed as the largest short film festival in North America, has announced its Festival award winners! 331 short films were screened, but in the end, only 18 categories were awarded.
I love and totally support the Palm Springs International ShortFest, many winners move on to nab an Oscar! According to Festival Director, Darry Macdonald, "It.s been a remarkable year for ShortFest, with record attendance and a rapturous response to the programming by audiences, industry and filmmakers alike. As definite favorites emerged from an incredibly strong selection of shorts, the winning list well-represented the demographics of the overall line-up. From 32 Australian short films in the festival, a few were sure to rise to the top – Elizabeth Tadic’s “Umoja: No Men Allowed” receiving the Grand Jury Award (while Christopher Stollery’s very funny “dik” was by far the most recommended film in the marketplace); and, with many well-known directors, there were always going to be some that ascended (Terry George – writer/director of “Hotel Rwanda” and “Reservation Road” – picked up $500 for his second place effort).

Best Of Festival Award - The winner of this award is eligible to submit their film to the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences for Oscar consideration.

Happy Cinco de Mayo! A relatively minor holiday in its home country, Cinco de Mayo has gained new life in the Us as beer and liquor companies have picked up on the fact that it's very easy to trick gringos into drinking specific beverages for holidays we know absolutely nothing about. Fun facts about Cinco de Mayo: It is not Mexico's independence day, that is celebrated on September 16th, a day that most Americans do not associate with tequila or Coronas because it doesn't have a snappy name suitable for drunkenly yelling in bars. However, I've got a better reason for celebrating tonight: it's the 21st birthday of newest Pajiba correspondent, Adam Lyon. So wish him a happy birthday if you haven't already and, buddy, I owe you a drink whenever I see you. Here's Wednesday night's TV:
8:00 p.m.: "America's Next Top Model" on The CW.
"The New Adventures of Old Christine...
